So, I'm guessing that the chip allows the data from to be loaded into the console much like it would from a disc, while at the same time telling the console that the game is an 'official copy' which the correct region data. The way that copy protection worked on the console used a very little known fact about CD lasers, mainly that they can read right into the centre ring of the disc. Sony were the only company to take advantage of this and when the game discs were produced, a spiral track of data was placed on this ring that no one else had the ability to reproduce. to make it even more secure, they took advantage of the laser's lens being 'floated' around in an electromagnetic field, as this was necessary for all CD lasers because the data track wasn't always perfectly cantered, so micro adjustments were needed to read the data. what this means for the copy protection in that the data track in the centre ring wobbles, which made it near impossible to reproduce. this is the sound you can hear the laser making as it scan for region data where seems to zip back and forth rapidly. When you 'chipped' a PlayStation console, the chip would send data to the BIOS telling the console the game was official and the right region too

When you 'chipped' a PlayStation console, the chip would send data to the BIOS telling the console the game was official and the right region too
I love his videos. Nothing but fixing something with no sound only but the sound of the tools and the fixing.
Can you restore my will to live?

Got to admit, the original PlayStation still looks so good. There was just something classy yet really “gamey” about it.
Here’s an idea! What if you started a new channel that would feature you not only fixing up items, but also giving them different add-ins and upgrades. And you call it “Mod Tinkering”!🤓
That sounds brings back so many great memories
you make really good relaxed videos about cleaning and repair where things technical problems and everything works again. I'm so curious how that looks like new in the end🤩
Your videos show real good conscience like tutorials.
You're really good at this kind of thing, could you do a ps4 controller tutorial to fix the shell on it? Change shell on ps4 controller, instead of black ps4 controller another skin color shell. 👀👍
Or a tutorial, why a ps4 makes loud noises. maybe you can fix how or why it is. 😄 and.. my ps4 controller R1 button doesn't quite work properly. the R1 button is very low as if you can't press it anymore and is half as nonfunctional. the (x) button is very easy to press. could you put out a tutorial, how to fix it?
Thanks 😁
Playing real fast and loose, holding the power supply like that. Glad you are still alive, you have balls of steel. Consider me subscribed!
Love this restoration! But the biggest question is, what happened to the spider!? I hope he's safe...
That PS1 boot sound. Sounds like childhood.
I love a good "upgarde" on a PlayStation
Funny to think that old abandoned consoles become really cool homes for spiders to live in
When I read spider nest I expected to find an modchip
lmao i know right? first time i ever bought a set of ps1s for repair i found a ratty modchip installed, cold joints, overly long cables, dusty nasty tape holding it together. Eventually trying to safely free the cables from their cold jointed prisons ended up lifting a pad off the board. rip.
Absolutely mesmerizing ASMR experience for gaming enthusiasts! 🎮🕷 Witness the incredible restoration of a broken and yellowed PlayStation, complete with a surprising spider nest discovery inside. The retrobrighting process is fascinating, and the upgrade to play games from SD cards using PSIO is a game-changer! 📀🔧 This restoration tutorial is perfect for those with a knack for soldering and a love for classic gaming. Kudos to the creator for sharing this amazing journey with us! 🙌😊
Yes, there are brief visuals of spiders in this video. Stay safe, fellow arachnaphobes. There are other very good videos from this channel that do not contain spiders 🖤
Always glad to see Ducktor make his appearance
i like how you put the isopropyl alcohol in a shot glass like yeah i’ll down that
So much skill. Plus, your black gloved hands leave me all tingly with anticipated release!
Você vive de consertar video-games ou faz por diversão? tenho muita vontade de fazer oque você faz nos vídeos, parabéns.
This is fabulous… it’s like watching a surgeon and it always has a good ending!! Job well done!!
ficou muito massa o upgrade 👏👏👏👏👏❤
Watching you restore and crank up Spyro made me crack the biggest smile 😁
6:06 a question I've always had, how do you not remove the scratches from the plastic with those brushes you use?
The plastic is not that weak
The plastic is not that weak
The plastic is not that weak
The plastic is not that weak
The plastic is not that weak
More than the ASMR, It's really admirable the vast knowledge about electronics and chemistry. You are a true savant.
How much Hydrogen Peroxide do you have? Infinite?
IKR, and it's expensive
For the time I think the PS1 is a fairly elegantly designed piece of kit.
This is my first time in my 25 young years of living I've seen someone put on gloves over already worn gloves. I'm in awe.
Awesome. Thanks for show the upgrade. First time that I saw this. Great!
this old gen console upgrade became next gen ASMR
So glad you chose to play Spyro, it is my favorite game from PS1. Awesome restoration as always!
We always played PlayStation at a friends house when i was in elementary school and you showed exactly the 2 games i can remember. What a coincidence.
