I have been a Glycerin wearer in the past. Looking forward to trying this version. As a general note for me with regard to running shoes, I'm never very concerned with breathability or weight. No matter what, here in Miami FL it's almost always hot. The only shoe that I ever ran in that felt heavy to me was the Adidas ultra boost. I'm a grown man, so a few ounces in a shoe is negligible. Already running in Brooks Hyperion Max 2, and that's a very good shoe.
I bought my Glycerin 21 this summer and was a bit sad that they are not breathing as much as my Triumph 21. But now, during wet winter with +5 temperature in love them soo much! Very comfortable and makes my feet warm very fast.
I will probably eventually buy the 22’s because the Glycerin is part of my rotation. However, I can wait until they go on sale because I still have about 300 miles left on my Glycerin 20’s. Also, I have a pair of Nike Vomero 17’s that I work into my rotation as a similar shoe.
Glycerin 20 was my wife's go-to shoe for exercise, dancing, general wear etc. (she's not a runner). Didn't like the 21 because it got a good deal softer. It'll be interesting to see how she feels about it since it seems to have gotten a bit firmer again but also a bit heavier.
Just had the glycerin max on my foot and an hour ago. As nice looking as the shoe is, the heel slip is real, and I never have an issue with that in any shoe besides maybe a nike. I will definitely be holding out for the 22 when it releases here in Canada as the dna tuned foam seems like a real winner. I also would prefer a lower stack without the aggressive roll as I can use it in the gym as well. I couldn't imagine trying to do a any weighted squat with the maxes on , it would be a rolling nightmare 😅😅😅
Great review! I've been using the 20 and 21 GTS versions of this shoe and loved both. Would you choose this new 22 GTS version over the new Adrenaline GTS 24?
I’m still in Glycerin 18 and on about 1,900km and still fine! When first wore them felt too soft for me but obviously really got into them now as daily trainer and indestructible! Only problem is had to adjust lacing as very shallow shoe profile and I’ve got high arch so caused numbness on top of foot. Once missed out some eyelets very comfortable.
@ I don’t know, all that change your shoes after a few hundred miles feels like a big marketing con! I think when people say the shoes bottomed out it can just be in the mind as they really just want a new pair! (I’ve done it myself). Probably depends on runner, I’m about 68kg and focus a lot on running form and rotate 3 daily trainers and they’re all over 1,000km and I’ve not suffered with any big injuries. It is frustrating as I do want to try some newer versions but prices shot up since I last bought a pair!!
@@CSRunner7 I get what you mean. Great you haven’t had any injuries! Was told by my physio that it can be a big factor in injury-running in shoes that become essentially not supportive anymore/foam too compressed when they have huge miles in them. I’ve found that I’ve noticed this (particularly the compressed foam) in other brands but have recently switched to Brooks & Puma since they use nitrogen infused foam, & in theory, should last longer. Your comment certainly is a vote of confidence in Brooks! I also rotate shoes, so get a bit more out of them. We all love new shoes, but less of them in landfill, without picking up injuries in the process has to be a huge win!! (I still think you deserve a new pair of shoes soon with the amount of mileage you have done! Gotta treat yourself occasionally!😂😉)
@@CSRunner7 oh, look at the previous version(s) of something ur interested in-I save big doing it that way. Usually huge discounts on the superseded model. I just check a couple reviews of them before I buy. Picked up Glycerin 20’s recently under $120 Aussie $ and am stoked. Did the same with Puma deviate nitro 2’s. Got them for a steal & absolutely love em!!
love the glycerin series for my daily training and long runs. ran my first marathon in them and they were great. currently training for a half marathon and looking for a race day shoe. what do you think complements well for race day for someone training in the glycerin? slower runner here
New balance and Brooks shoes in Europe have ridiculously high prices, compared to everything else on the market. If we compare it to Novablast 5 it's like night and day when it comes to performance to price ratio
The padding on glycerine 21 around the ankle was firm, tight, and uncomfortable, as it was always cutting in. I hope glycerine 22 is looser, softer, and not as imposing in that area.
Fordy is right. The Glycerin 22 is $210 CDN while the Glycerin Max is $250 CDN. It would make much more sense to purchase the Glycerin Max for $40 more since they're both stacked heavier shoes with the same DNA tuning.
@@zentatonic I'd personally wait for the 22. The max has a ton of rocker on the front and I just couldn't get use to walking in them. Running was great, but walking I didn't enjoy.
@TomUK7 because I have foot issues from my job, and so far the only shoes I can wear for more than a few hours are my running shoes and a couple pairs of boots
Just saw your comment about not having the Glycerin as treadmill shoe. I was curious your thoughts on what shoes at what stack height you think work for treadmill. I currently have the Ghostmax 2, Glycerin 21 & Superblast 2. Any of these are treadmill shoes?
I use the Glycerin 21GTS at the min as my daily shoe. I really like it and will definitely get the 22. Current rotation is GTS21, Superblast 2 and Magic Speed 4.
The weight difference of the glycerin Max and this G22 is such a turn-off considering so much difference in the midsole stacks. Im glad it is what it is & I dont have spend money on the G22 since I already have the Glycerin Max 😂. Dear Brooks, please bring back the Aurora BL v2 with DNA Tuned with the weigh of the Adidas Evo SL...man...my wallet would hurt for sure !!!
All the comments about the weight! Didn’t realise how many Kipchoge class athletes we had out there 😂
🤣
Couldn’t agree more….😂🎉
Heavy shoes affect weak person more

Very good show
Thanks Chris! Appreciate your reviews. I love how Brooks is stepping up their game. Just ordered the Hyperion Max 2 from one of your earlier reviews.
Great shoe
@@jschwabrph the shoes are simply amazing! Especially after break in
You said exactly what I was thinking. They look a step back design wise. But I’ve gotta try the tuned when I get back out there. 🙂
Yep
I bought my Glycerin 21 this summer and was a bit sad that they are not breathing as much as my Triumph 21. But now, during wet winter with +5 temperature in love them soo much! Very comfortable and makes my feet warm very fast.
This new upper is warm
Love my Glycerin 21s. Quite fancy trying the Glycerin max
Great 👌 review Fordy really appreciate it
Thank very much

Yes , I Will buy the 22.. I have the 21 and the Hyperion Max 2.
Good for you enjoy!
Looks good, hopefully better for heel strikers. Like the design. Any views on this versus nimbus 27?

Really? I think they are probably well & truly past their use by😂but I agree, nitrogen infused foam is legit!!!

Saucony kinvara pro (or its new name endorphin trainer) or new balance elite v4 (but that’s expensive)

They are expensive in some places I totally agree
I agree on the looks 🤔 the colorways anyways.
Morning all. Brooks....!!! Run Happy!!!. Like to Fordy. A nice weekend for everyone.
You got that right!
The Glycerin was one of my favorite shoes....the Glycerin 11's, that is.😅 If i could only find a few pairs of those!😊
Glycerin 11!!!!!!
I like the Glycerin. The Glycerin Max had too much too cushioning. It hurt my knees.
Hello.. between Brooks Gly 22 & Asics Novablast 5, what shoes do u prefer for a long easy run? Thanks😊
The padding on glycerine 21 around the ankle was firm, tight, and uncomfortable, as it was always cutting in. I hope glycerine 22 is looser, softer, and not as imposing in that area.
Yeah comfort improvements made

Mostly for longer walks...

@Pbanders94 thanks 🙏
Just wondering why spend so much money on a shoe designed for running? When you want to walk instead? Why not just get something for half the price?
@TomUK7 because I have foot issues from my job, and so far the only shoes I can wear for more than a few hours are my running shoes and a couple pairs of boots
How do they compare to the Ride 18 as daily trainer?
Ride is more stripped out
Just saw your comment about not having the Glycerin as treadmill shoe. I was curious your thoughts on what shoes at what stack height you think work for treadmill. I currently have the Ghostmax 2, Glycerin 21 & Superblast 2. Any of these are treadmill shoes?
For me I prefer a low stack more traditional feeling shoe that don’t need to cost loads. Hyperion from brooks or even the launch
@@FordyRuns 100%. The Brooks Launch 10 is great on the treadmill. I would add the Brooks Adrenaline 23 for the treadmill
Would you recommend them for Treadmill running ?
No

You’ll like these
Looks like an asics now :)
Do you prefer this or the 1080v14?
Not sure
Looks like that old Asics Nimbus Lite with a white midsole TBH.
Similar
Yes agree, I’d want to use as daily trainer so that weight a bit too much compared to 1080 I think. Plus price a bit high.
Yeah too heavy
The 21 was terrible. Tight fitting, caused rubbing. Loved the 20. I hope these are as comfortable as them.
They are comfy

21 looks much better design wise.
Yep
Each to their own but I have no interest in a shoe over 300g.
My point exactly
200 € for the shoe that weighs 320 grams? 😂😂😂😂
Brooks obviously has a very loyal fun base in Europe. 😂😂😂. Good luck.
Yep it’s too heavy
it is quite an ugly shoe, your right it does seem a step back compared to the other new releases from brooks
