Oh my goodness!!!!! I recognize this man! I'm looking for videos on turf cutting as I'm writing a paper on this topic. But then I saw this man, Sean, and it hit me --- a friend and I met him on our 2023 trip to Ireland!!! We asked if we could park our car on the street outside his house as we wanted to hike up the hill. When we came back down, he invited us in for some tea! We talked, and he even showed us a photo of his donkey!!!!!! When we got back home from our trip, we sent him some photos that we took up on that hill as well as a photo of him that we took before leaving. I hope he's doing well! What a crazy coincidence that I would find Sean here on TH-cam!!
God bless the turf cutters. Their hard work has warmed many, many generations of Irish families. There is also something special about the fact that a landscape that is often so rugged can offer up a bounty so great, which pretty much sums up the beauty of Ireland in a nutshell. 🇮🇪
Piece is from Kerry. On Dingle peninsula overlooking the Blasket ISLANDS. Feothanach is mentioned in the piece. A village not far from where "Ryans Daughter" was made. Beautiful countryside.
Ba chóir duit teacht anseo chun samhradh amháin a chaitheamh sa Ghaeltacht agus beidh tú beagnach chomh líofa is atá mise ina dhiadh, gealaim é sin duit.
Bhuel... Cen sceal 👍 Gaelige i Baile Atha Clia Maith thu. Bron ormsa nil fada ar mo mhobile. Beidir la amhain aris i nhEireinn - ba bhaith liom na seannos agus gach craic ansin ann..
Is breá liom an boladh a bhaineann le móin a dhó. Tá an físeán an-deas. Go raibh maith agat. Gearrthóir móna a bhí i m’athair sular tháinig sé go Meiriceá.
Its nice to show a bit of the old traditions , The rope from the creels going around the donkeys neck is to narrow, In Donegal we never used a rope between the creels it affects the windpipe of the Donkey, The head collar is also a bit shabby,
We are irish, I suggest u go learn it if u are born and bred here u imbecile. You cannot even understand your own first language let alone speak it, how despicable and what a weakling u truly are !

A wonderful glimpse of Irish tradition. In one of the most beautiful spots in the world, no less!
Watching this piece from the Dingle Peninsula in Kerry helps me value the simple things in life.
He's a great fellow, and he's got the right idea about life, top man.
Thank-you! So beautiful!
TH-cam is a great tool as well. It will Preserves a lot of History. TH-cam is only 11 years old.
I miss Kerry and the old ways.
That man is a rare breed, and a good one at that
What an extremely beautiful part of the world.
Well in seanie
Can someone please tell me the name of that beautiful fiddle tune in this video? Thanks! ☘️

Great video
Nice work. Thanks
Awesome. How long does a few pieces of turf burn?
About a half hour.
Depends how dry it is, if some thick bastard leaves it out on the bog too long it'll crumble and burn like paper

IDK why, but whenever I watch this video I feel very sad.
No wonder! Our country is been destroyed day by day. Ireland is in a worse state than the Famine.

I've never seen a black Hobbit!
Waste of time turf is the worst fuel for the fire better with blocks and coal
It’s the tradition that is being celebrated and continued.
Not a waste of time
