Great videos ,well done on the drone footage,it looks like an island of virgin bog surrounded by commercial peat cutting, bord na mona,good to see the Massey drawing it home in bags,a dying tradition,yet it was a brilliant source of fuel,and when cut by hand ,it was just another task for rural families, hard work,but immense satisfaction for the man who could provide heating for the winter,now they want to ban it,whatcha shame,.

@@tomcatserkan no its not fertile its a peat deposit call a bog the peat is used mainly as a fuel to generate electricity.some peat can be used as growing medium to help plants and crops grow its usally a lighter peat found on the top of bogs.
serkan Mustafa avci Yes and no.The soil in the bog is waterlogged and acidic the refore organic matter never fully decomposes ,but when its taken off the bogs mostly the topsoil its very good growing medium.

I heard all that said 40 years ago and theres more trees, birds, insects now in that section than back then.
I have a friend in Ireland that her husband cuts turf for their home needs now the Irish gov wants them to switch to gas or coal more expensive

whats the purpose of cutting turf? what is the use of this?
It’s used as fuel like wood and burned in fireplaces and stoves.
We cut the turf and destroy the natural bogland so cheap ignorant hicks can burn it in their fires in winter.....

There is a machine but it can do more harm then good sometimes so best do it by hand and yes PAINFUL lol
