If you didn't notice, the beat stays the same throughout the song and its Suga's rap flow that makes it seem like the music is changing.

The King is supposed to represent Yoongi's (Agust D's) past self, who was holding on to a lot of anger and greed. Yoongi explains this himself in the behind the scenes footage. Even the king's blond hair is a nod to Yoongi's blond hair from the era of his previous mixtape. (You'll see if you watch the music videos for his songs "Agust D" or "Give It To Me") The lower-class Yoongi represents his present self who now has everything he wanted, both fame and success, but now he realizes how dangerous and destructive his greed can be (notice how the King becomes more and more unhinged throughout the MV). Yoongi talks about something similar in BTS's song "Magic Shop" where he sings:
"The greed which I used as a weapon grew constricting and became a leash"

So in this song, Yoongi decides to kill his greed. The lyrics in the bridge sum up the main theme of this song really well:
"I got everything I ever wanted....
.....Yeah, what's next
Here comes my reality check
There's nowhere higher
I only looked up and now I want to look down
And put my feet on the ground."
And in typical Yoongi fashion, this song also doubles as a dis track towards the haters and doubters. There are lots of historical references, easter eggs and hidden word play in the song too. Yoongi is a lyrical genius. 🙌

I love every time during the reactions the army brother looks at his brother to check his reactions to a certain parts of the song/mv. I can relate so much!!! 😅💜
The general interpretation is that those are his humble and greedy sides. This song is a diss track, but the MV is the story of his internal struggle with fame, haters, etc..
But the song also said about that. Specially when he is blindfolded , and say he want to keep his feet on the ground.
'Daechwita' is a display of strength and self-confidence. Agust D uses the metaphor of a king or leader to speak of his own rise and success in the music industry. The lyrics reflect a challenge to authority and those who doubt his legitimacy and power, and also address themes of self-improvement, with references to his past and the struggle to get to where he is now. SUGA is brilliant
AgustD is my ultimate bias wrecker and what got me into BTS. It's heartbreaking to know the story behind this persona, but I'm also happy that SUGA poured out his honest and raw feelings in his lyrics throughout the whole mixtape and trilogy. I saw a comment in one reaction video that said something like AgustD may sound like he's always in rage, but when you listen deeply to what he has to say, he's actually screaming for help. And that broke me, especially when I saw him trying to get out of his AMYGDALA because the pain and trauma are too much to bear. I love him. And I'm always thankful for his music, which saved a lot of people who are also battling silently with their inner turmoils.

I generally agree with this, but I'd rec Bookish Theory for Daechwita, as DKDK kind of missed the main message Yoongi gave that Bookish caught.
This is the first video in the trilogy, Haegeum is next then Amygdala. Same characters are in all 3. Except not the blonde one. Love the reaction! And Yoongi has such an interesting way of changing his voice, and how he speaks. It is very pleasing to the ear :)

I have another suggestion for future reactions, a song that is VERY loved by the Army and rarely talked about, the song is called louder than bombs, there is no MV or live performance of this song, which the Army is patiently waiting to see/hear live when they reunite in 2025. Hi guys. Thanks for this, too. 'Daechwita' is part of a trilogy of songs. This is the first song. This one is from Agust D's 'D-2', his second album. The second and third part of the song trilogy are found in his third album called 'D-Day' - called 'Haegeum' and 'Amygdala'. They are also both like short films. Once you have seen rhe MVs, go back and watch the MVs again and read the subtitles. It will give you a better understandung of him. You are right - it is about his past. I won't say much more about it because i want the MVs and the lyrics to surprise you. Hope to see you soon. Take care.

I recommend that you seek out the behind the scenes videos especially the one where Yoongi is interviewed. The blond king is his past self-- if you look at his AgustD mixtape you can see he was blond then, very angry and aggressive, and (self-described) greedy for wealth and fame. Now he wants to be more rational and with his feet on the ground , so he's killing off his old self. If you watch Haegeum you can see the next phase of his self reflection.

Back when he did the opening for the World Cup in Qatar, there was an interview with the World Cup committee, and the announcer referred to him as a Kookie, and said why didn’t you bring all the kookies to perform?” It was so funny to watch. He plays both parts as both the king and the commoner are 2 part's of him and he's killing off the bits of his character he know's he needs to release himself from. That is a real place in the big park in South Korea and it's replace's the original building with copies and is anyone can walk around them but some time's it's closed off when artists are filming there for MV's or series/film etc.

Suga is also known as the savage king in the media. I always thought this music video was related to this title especially since he is referring to the media in this music video! Others gave him this nickname because he seems emotionless (Of course, Suga is very sweet and kind hearted, he is just introverted and not very strong in expressing his feelings)!
DAECHWITA is part of Suga's trilogy songs, so since you already started reacting the first part i suggest to react next tge 2nd part of tdilogy HAEGEUM of Suga. There is a storyline in these 3 songs , Suga building a story n first part in DAECHWITA continuing in HAEGEUM ( kind of 2nd sequel) then the last part of the trilogy AMYGDALA. These trilogy songs are one of so many Suga's masterpieces produced composed, writes, all by our genius brilliant Suga himself.

Daechwita is a traditional Korean music that was played by the kings of the Joseon Dynasty when they were going out of the palace.
The sound that sounds like Arabic music in the middle is an instrument called Taepyeongso, a traditional Korean wind instrument.
This song is the first music video of the trilogy and it is about getting rid of the past me (the crazy blond king) and becoming a new me (a black-haired commoner). If you watch DKTKTV, you can understand Korean culture and the meaning of the lyrics.

He kills his old self who was too obsessed with greed and proving others wrong. His current self realizes that it's useless to pursue anger and resentment. He chooses to kill off any bad aspects of his personality and he is calling all of us to be behind him and do the same. This is a trilogy and in each MV we see his evolution as a human being. It's epic.
