@@regularguy6501 my husband ran offset printing presses, Davidson's, yamada, and a 19x25 2 color press, he ran folders, cameras, cutter, and was also as they call it now image assembler, stripper in the old days.he also ran kluge, Chandler and price with the rice feeder, linotype, hand presses he actually has done it all in printing except selling.
Sure. I found a font on my pc that I liked, printed it out and spray adhesived it on to my stencil material and cut it out. It's good to have more than a 1/16th thick plastic on your saw. Put 2 layers of doorskin under it. It will cut better and will give you 2 more sets of stencils.
Have you ever tried tilting you table about 5 degrees when you cut these names. It will be different. He has glued pictures on wood tilted table about 3 degrees and cut around the outline of the person, makes them stand out away from the rest of the picture always go to the left.

Is there a way to get the lower case 'y' to descend below the bottom of the other letters?
I could but it disrupts the usage of my planks.
What size blade do you use
I buy them ny the gross so it's been years since I had to. I think they are a #5 reverse tooth PGT by Olsen.
