Exactly what I've been feeling for last 5 years.. Depressed. Listless. Just can't get out of this rut. It's really hard to persevere every day.. but what else is there? Gotta fight that daily battle, brother.
    Cheers.

It’s not easy to sit and talk in front of a camera. I really enjoyed those. I wouldn’t worry about run time, stream of consciousness is where the good deep thoughts are.

24 yr old dude from FL here, just wanted to comment and say that it can definitely help when you feel stuck or lost at least in my personal experience to try to find a new interest/passion/hobby. At a minimum it can help make life feel more interesting and fulfilling to conquer new challenges, for me it is fixing engines and fishing, I can’t tell you what it is for you but I think it’s worth a shot. Cheers, may many blessings come your way!

I would suggest reading the book of Ecclesiastes, even if you aren't religious. Try reading it outside with your bare feet (grounded) in the dirt. I'm not sure about happiness but contentment comes to me at moments when I am just breathing in nature and trying to truly see the color of green. Someday I might figure out what I want to be when I grow up but at 52 years I'm not holding my breath. Too much screen time = dread for me. The online hurricane doesn't match the cool breeze in the real world. Nature is where we belong; the further away we are from nature, the more dread creeps into our lives. Just my two pennies. Great books BTW. Thanks for this video and the last one.

Getting a promotion shouldn't be the goal. That's ultimately outside of your control. Working hard, doing your best to help your organization and your co-workers is. And it sounds like you've been incredibly successful there.
Cool voice, it kind of reminds me of Xemnas from Kingdom Hearts series.

Appreciate the insight you've given us about things. Keep releasing videos an I'll keep watching, I've commented on maybe like 5 total TH-cam videos ever an been around for nearly a decade at this point. Theres some big potential here, only sharing my thoughts because I believe this time is crucial on whether you decide this is just a phase you are having or something you want to be consistent with, regardless of what you do end up deciding, thank you for sharing your thoughts an I'll be waiting for the next video

Bro!! I’m really enjoying your videos. Especially the book recommendations. I’m 46 years old, and just retired from the military as a physician. I would not say that I’m experiencing the exact same emotions, but the feeling of being trapped at one point or another is inevitable once you are married, have kids, and a set career track. I have treated hundreds of people with depression and I myself have been treated for depression. I’m sure you know this.. but you are presenting classically as a depressed person.
Not saying you should immediately seek attention, but consider some of the simple things that people do to pull themselves out of depression.
I started eating differently. Only fruit,
Veggies, nuts, seafood, grains. Zero man made food or sweet beverages .
Exercise daily. Doesn’t have to be much more crazy than walking 4 miles and doing a few sets up push ups. If you’re not doing much this can go a long way to breaking up the routine which seems to be boxing you in.
Drink only water. Monitor your sleep closely. Remove your smartphone and tv from the bedroom and be intentional about sleeping at least 8 hours.
    Okay, done preaching .

I thank you doctor, however I have had a full mental health evaluation and I do mean full.
What I suffer from is the affliction of life itself, and some injustices I find rather infuriating.
David scores solidly within the average range or lower on the main scales that
would suggest any pathology. He does not evince emotional, thought or behavioral dysfunction, all of
which are solidly within the average range and technically below the mean. His main depression scale is
solidly within the average range and his score on the anxiety scale is significantly lower than average.
Oriented in all spheres, as it were.
I like to place that on my resumes (not really, that's a joke).

@ okay, cool. I often say that unfiltered life without some kind of deeper meaning is depressing as hell. I left religion in my late 20s and believe that there are few things that can match the sense of meaning that I had when I believed.
The only exception would be serving others in some way or another. That helps a lot. Whether it’s my children or other doctors struggling with this or that.. or patients in need. Yes, some of it is work, but a lot of it falls outside of my day job.
Perhaps some kind of community service,
Volunteer work, or altruistic endeavor could pull you out of this cloud. Life is a hell of an affliction, I won’t ever deny that. But, try to find small ways to break up the monotony. New goals and new things that make you uncomfortable, like the Indian novel you suggested. Military service was all about being uncomfortable for many years. Cold, wet, hungry, and doing dangerous stuff (not always fun dangerous). But there was something invigorating about it.
Don’t enlist.. not saying that.. but go on some kind of walkabout. The next time the kids are with someone else for the weekend. Get a tent, backpack, some food and water and walk as far as you fare into the forest or nearby National park. Camp, read, meditate and absorb all that nature. Almost 100% sure it will make a positive difference.

That is kind of the internal monologue I have with myself often. Arguing with myself that it all does matter somehow, perhaps not right at this moment in the moment, but maybe over time the sum of the things I do leaves a positive impression behind to be valued.
Benefiting those around us in a positive manner. Idk, maybe.
Hope you have a good day.

50% of people don't experience an inner monologue.
Be thankful you even have one.
Have you considered you have low T levels and that's what is calling your angst?
And happiness is overrated. Look for meaning.

Sounds like the soulless nature of your work is wearing you down beyond the mental wear that comes with work.
If you can/do find the time I recommend planting something with your hands.
    A tree
    A garden
    Doesn't matter
Tend to something with soul (hell get a puppy as an 'emotional support animal)
It helps a man's soul to care for something living, money doesn't cut it.
