UPDATE: I have been trying to find a reliable source for two stories: 1: Harry was offered a settlement, that he allegedly rejected and 2: William donated his settlement to Invictus Games. I understand they are probably true but are unverifiable at this stage…so I left them out of this recording. ❤
There seems to be a focus in the comments on the number of times somebody has been hacked and where William donated his settlement money. (Many I suspect from people who haven't even watched my video 😂) None of that is really relevant to the video I made! I don't know why how many times someone has been hacked is relevant? The damage can be enormous to any individual from one hack so I didn't bother mentioning that in this video...I suspect it is just part of the NGN spin and it has been covered ad nauseam by them! I am also aware of the story that Prince William donated his settlement to the Invictus Games. Which is a wonderful thing to do! I support William in this video however I also support Harry taking NGN to court over the phone hacking, I am CRITICAL however, of the way Harry went about it! X

Definitely it really comes down to the unnecessary inclusion of William, as the tone/wording is to really bring slander . For William I wonder if it wasn't about the money but winning the case with the acknowledgement that the wrong thing done had accountability??
Agree, even being hacked once would be awful, like knowing a robber has been in your home even if he didn't get away with any items.
Enjoyed the video 😄from sunny northern Qld!

I agree that there is damage even if it was just one hacking incident. But the fact is that when damages are being assessed in a court case, the details will make a difference. For instance, in a case where somebody is being sued because they were negligent and someone got hurt because of it. Every detail would be considered when deciding damages, like how bad did the person get hurt, was the negligence something that should have been foreseen, does it appear that the person being sued was careless or did they show a complete disregard for other's safety, and so on. So it was reasonable that William and Catherine would've been able to get a bigger settlement. Harry has the right to sue for whatever he wants, but the fact that he got hacked 9 times and Catherine got hacked 155 times is relevant when assessing damages.

Allegedly Harry was offered a deal of around 200K at the same time but I guess he didn’t think it was enough. I hear what you’re saying about Harry but I think it’s important also to wonder if his reaction is out of proportion to the offence. Harry’s phone was hacked 6 times as opposed to William (around 50-60 and Catherine (around 150). Hence the size of the settlement to William. Also, Harry was offered a settlement and turned it down , a choice he made himself. You have given an EXCELLENT summary of this case - clear and balanced for sure! I believe that Harry ruins his own credibility, not by the essence of the case, but rather by his hypocritical outrage! No matter how ruthless and unfair the press was, the Court is the place for justice and the Court does not seek revenge. So Harry's constant demands for apologies 'that hurt' (in this case Murdoch's) is yet another example of his unreasonable demands. As a society, we all must compromise and we often do not get everything we want when an injustice occurs. It's Harry's 'method' or technique of trying to humiliate and expose 'the enemy' (his family now) that I have a problem with. And it's a technique that is clearly undoing him (and Meghan). Thank you so much for putting a serious matter into perspective. Love your channel!!!!

First of all, the witness statement has been submitted incorrectly. It was not required and it was not given to the defence prior to submission so that rebuttals could be provided. The judge will decide whether to allow it into evidence in the first place.
Secondly, the judge has pointed out 'factual inconsistencies' between the statement and the way the original case was presented. This is a big deal. A witness statement should confine itself to the facts alone.
Thirdly, there was a time limit placed on subsequent action related to these cases and this has in fact passed so this is a meaningful position by the defence.
Fourthly, William made an out of court settlement, an entirely legal and very common occurrence, for the extensive hacking he and Catherine experienced which was considerably more often than Harry. There is a belief that Harry was also offered a settlement which he turned down. William is also believed to have donated that settlement to Invictus.
And finally, the monarchy cannot go about it's business without press cooperation, it would be a monumental own goal to make enemies of the press.

@@thevintagereadGenerally I enjoy your compare and contrasts from a literary viewpoint, however, I think it's quite difficult to make clear points here without reference to the legal aspects, especially when you point out that most commentators are on NGN's side. The reason for this is probably because H's case is actually quite weak. He is fast becoming a vexatious litigator and is hounding a free press because he seemingly does not like to be criticised. Where will that end? TH-cam commentators? Is does beg the question.

In addition to not taking responsibility himself while insisting on accountability in others, the other thing that really annoys me about Harry and Meghan is that no punishment applied to others is ever enough for them.
Meghan is choosing not to attend the coronation because she doesn't feel King Charles did enough regarding the skin color remark ("unconscious bias") in the royal family. Both King Charles and Meghan agree the remark was made without malice. Apparently, counseling/cautioning the individual that made the remark isnt enough for Meghan. I wonder what she thinks King Charles should have done. Publicly name and shame the individual that made the remark? Schedule a public stoning? Jail the individual? Send the individual off to a work camp for reeducation?
Harry and Meghan insist on a high (perhaps even unreasonable) level of accountability from others, yet they don't want that same standard applied to themselves. They blame others for their mistakes and bad deeds instead of taking accountability. Very hypocritical.

Thank you for another excellent video, you rock! I'd like to mention something you didn't talk about in your video.... Hazbeen WAS offered a compensation of 200,000 GBP, but he refused to take it, and the rumour says that he wanted the same amount of money as his brother's compensation.... forgetting that he was hacked 9 times, while William and especially Catherine were hacked 10-15 times more than him... it seems right to me that their compensation was bigger...
So, I agree that he still is in the right in asking for a compensation, as he didn't get the one he wanted at that time, but he is responsible for all of the circus he created, as he was impatient (William got his compensation years after the events, in 2020) and very greedy.
He is also a fool by putting out there the arrangements that the RF had made with the media, as in most cases he was the one creating havoc and negativity with his behaviour and the RF covered it most of the times by, yes, using their arrangements with the said media. In my eyes, he is a traitor and has no integrity or loyalty to his family. He is the "kamikaze" that might destroy the Institution and cannot see that in the process he will destroy himself too.
Anyway, these are a few of MY thoughts, observations, conclusions and my opinion only.

No doubt Harry wanted an apology from NGN, he wants apologies from everyone! But i think he would definitely expect some money if he got Murdoch to admit what they did. The big difference between William and Harry's battle over the hacking was William didn't want everything made public in court, the whole point was to maintain his and his family's privacy. Harry is not bothered so much about it all coming out in public tgriugh the court, as long as he's disclosing private information, it doesn't bother him, even if it affects the privacy of others. He just gives the press what they want, they give him a payout either way and they get more material for their papers. Murdoch apologised publicly for the NOW scandal, it was hardly sincere, but he's not going to do that for each case taken against his company. H needs to stoo criticising others making deals, they have limitations and are not wanting to publicise the hacked material.

The South Park guy doesn't care of being dragged to court and tell HIS truth, I think he cannot wait to go and continue with the complains and spread his toxicity around, in his attempt to defame the BRF. It seems that, for him, the court would be just another platform for him to spread HIS truth around and try to convince everyone that he is right.

I agree that Harry has the right to have his day in court (if he can get it to trial) but at what cost. It’s clear that when William asked Scotland Yard to look into his suspicion that his phone was being hacked the whole scandal unfolded from there. It was dreadful and quite rightly there were serious consequences for those involved (perhaps the investigation didn’t go far enough and some escaped unscathed). What irks me is Harry’s self centredness. The palace did the sensible thing to avoid having to appear in court, not because they had anything to hide, but because the hacked conversations were private. As I understand it the Queen would always advocate settling out of court and Harry would know this. He pulled out of the joint claim in 2019, he says, because he was being blocked by his father? I wonder about that. It’s more likely the process was too slow or that his wife got into his ear. I remember he announced this lawsuit around the same time as his wife announced she was suing the Mail over the ‘Dear Daddy’ letter. They were on tour in S Africa when her suit was made public( 2nd Oct 2019) and his suit against the Sun was announced on the 4th I think. I think, if it hadn’t been for his wife needling him, Harry would have settled at the same time as his brother. She has got him and the RF into a real mess and his case is weak - factually inconsistent with the additional 31 page witness statement presented without the court’s knowledge or consent. It reads like a teenage vengeful rant and is relying on his suspicion that his father was hacked and therefore, Harry’s privacy will inevitably have been invaded because his Dad would have been talking about him. I hope the judge throws it out. Remember, he was hacked only 9 times to Catherine’s 155. My rant over.

Harry was mostly in the Army during this so that explains his total ignorance. Newspaper editors were prosecuted. You've allowed hatred of Murdoch to give sympathy to Harry. He deserves none! William's Lawyers advised him to wait till the Leverson Inquiry was over and group actions suing were settled before he sued NGN who'd admitted to the crimes, the Royal Correspondent was in jail! William waited patiently and privately settled as most suing did. Harry chose to go his own way and knew better, at Meghan's behest probably. The thrust of Harry's case is that HE should have been prioritized and I can't for the life of me see how he can justify that position. Every time this case is referenced it seems to me that the 'little people' that were hurt ABSOLUTELY should have had their negotiated settlement first. Imagine what the parents of Millie are entitled to.. how they should be compensated is in calculable. Imagine William or harry settling first.. that would ever after be the 'bench mark' for ALL following settlements. Harry is devoid of the capacity to put a third party before himself. We saw that with the tale of hogging the gas and air... and we see it in every piece of mud he hurls at others privacy.
I take your points about future proofing ones actions but I just cannot get away from the heart break I felt at what was reportedly happening to the Dowlers at that time. Its something that I think none of us should every gloss over if we can avoid it. Love your channel and appreciate your insights.

Yes i believe Milly’s parents were compensated a long time ago…Horrendous what they were put through! 💔
