Isaiah 42:8 - I am Jehovah, that is my name; and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
      Exodus 3:15 -
And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, Jehovah, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name forever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.
I posted another long comment here a few minutes ago detailing various ancient Bible Era sources that strongly suggest that Yahowah was the original pronunciation of the Name, which is incredibly ironic.
It was maybe late last year I did a Hebrew word search and found out that the phrase 'Ehyeh shows up like 50 or 60 times in the Hebrew Bible, and that Angels, Humans all use it in reference to themselves!
When Ruth tells Naomi that she will become like a daughter or (I can't recall the exact verbiage) the words "I shall become" spoken by her is 'Ehyeh in Hebrew.
In Proverbs 8:22, Wisdom says "Jehovah produced me as the beginning of his way...then I came to be beside him as a master worker". Again, "I came to be" here is 'Ehyeh in Hebrew.
So rather than being a 'Name of God', 'Ehyeh is simply the phrase he used to explain his Name, otherwise, it would have been improper for others who served Him to use referring to themselves.

In order to make it "Yahovah" or "Jehovah" you would have to add two Vowels and the Consonant "V" that wasn't introduced into the Latin Alphabet but 500 years ago alone with the letter "J."

I'm Jewish, so I'm not terribly familiar with the Book of Revelation, but I think it's interesting to note that this sentence "Holy Holy Holy is The Lord G-d Almighty, who was, and is and will be" sounds a lot like the Kedusha, a Jewish prayer that is recited in the morning and evening services. The original is from Isaiah 6:3 and reads ""Holy, Holy, Holy, The Lord of Hosts, The entire world is filled with His Glory."

    • @gagejohnson3272
      @gagejohnson3272 7 ปีที่แล้ว +40

The book of Revelation is written in the genre of apocalyptic literature, a genre that was very popular for several centuries in the Middle East, and within Jewish circles, even before Jesus' time. Because of that, Revelation is replete with Jewish imagery, language, and structure. It especially alludes to the prophets, such as Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel. If you ever have time, I would really recommend you read Revelation; understanding Jewish traditions, I'm sure that you have a much better grasp on the author's allusions than many Christians who read it.

@@mr.e3894 Do you know why God wanted the Canaanite all destroyed? Do some research. During Abraham's time, God wanted them gone but he said it wasn't their time yet. The kind of disgusting acts of evil they committed in worship deems all of them worthy of death for their sins. God said not to let any of them live. Yet the Israelites didn't destroy them all and both Israel and Judah didn't which led to them worshipping the Canaanite gods and even practicing child sacrifice.
Also there were rules they had to follow in having slaves as servants. God commanded them not to treat them as they were treated in Egypt. There was actually something in place, where some slaves if treated so well could essentially join the family they were serving.
There was also a limited time that people could be kept as slaves, after time their debts would be forgiven and they were to be released.
You have to use critical thinking but also see how things actually were and not read into it.

The sincerity is all that matters. Even when we cant make out the words because, for example, we are distracted or cant find the words, Gods spirit bears witness with ours and interprets words unuttered. How beautiful is that?! 📑 With the decay of the Hebrew language at times and the absence of the Torah at other times during the lives of the ancient generations of Jews, that absence during the intermittent periods of the distant past led to the loss of the Hebrew memory of the vowels connecting the entire written language not only the name of God, which led to moving forward in the restoration of Hebrew based on the local languages that The Jews lived among in the past like Aramaic, then the Latin languages later, which led to confussion and then to the separation of Hebrew from the Semitic languages and its acquisition of a completely different context, dominated by a Western character.
📑 It is inappropriate to judge it yourself that the Creator is without a certain name, leaving His name to humans, for the name of the Great Creator is what He calls Himself with and grants It His sanctity by Himself.
📑 The word YHVH is not a name known for God as it is promoted, but rather a title of deity (YHVH=LORD) OR (GOD) and nothing more.
You do not realize that Ezra conveyed to the Jews the idea that 'Elohim is God' by teaching them that (Elohim is YHVH) and of course the Jews understood at that time what Ezra didn't mean at all , unfortunately they interpreted this asif the word YHVH is a new and better name for Elohim, so it can be attributed to the Jews own God rather than to God Himself.
When Moses was addressed by Elohim, he did not say that he was another God, or that he had replaced His personal Name with a new Name. Rather, the Jews interpreted the words of Elohim in order to be understood so .
It is self-evident that the Creator says to Moses:
☝ Iam the Lord your God.
      (אני אלהים יהוה שלך.)
I am the God your Lord.
      (אני האלוהים אדונכם.)
📑 In order to know where the derivation of the title (YHVH) came from, you only need to return to the Hebrew phrase that can cause this problem, something like(The Lord is Elohim/ God is God.) or(אלוהים הוא ה’ 0 ) and to read it from left to right in contrast to reading the Hebrew language to realize how the problem occurred between the Jews of that time with Ezra.

Joshua? Cause that's all Yeshua means. If you're referring to an actual name referring to Jesus it's Koine Greek and it's spelled Iēsoûs and that's the one and only name that ever refers to Jesus in ancient biblical texts. Yeshua doesn't appear even once in the New Testament. It was a name pulled in more modern times from Messianic Jews.

I started drinking when I was 16. I would drink at parties, but I also started drinking alone because I was unhappy, and I was in a lot of emotional pain all the time. My mom was very aggressive when I was younger, and my brother hated her and so did I. He started hanging out with shady people, he started failing all his classes, he was never home, and my parents fought all the time. I also ran away several times. I was always trying to figure out a reason as to why I was here or what the purpose of life was. So, I started looking at different philosophies, religions, and beliefs. When I was 18 after I was hungover, I got on my knees and I prayed for the first time. I asked if God was real that he would show me he was real because I couldn’t take it anymore. I was crying when I prayed for this. At that moment I felt a presence come over me like a wind. It was barely noticeable, but it was unlike anything in my life I had experienced up until that point. I was surprised when I felt it and I remember saying “what was that?” after that experience I pretty much forgot what happened and kept partying, until my senior year when I got arrested. After my arrest, my parents lost all their trust in me and I was expelled from high school. I was told never to come back to my school. At that time, I felt afraid and hopeless. That’s when I started looking for God, and I prayed that he would reveal himself in my life and that he would give me signs. My prayers began getting answered so consistently that I couldn’t deny that God was doing something. It was mysterious and compelling. I ended up in Church and started reading the bible hours a day. I stopped hanging out with all my other friends because they were continually getting arrested. I was able to forgive my family and myself and to ask to be forgiven. I noticed how at Church people were judgmental and how they formed cliques but were afraid to be around anyone else different from them. It increased my faith because I realized Jesus was not like that and ever since I was young, I saw people as people regardless of who they were. After a while, it’s like I could see God's presence was in my life and then it felt like he wasn’t, and then he was, and then he wasn’t. One day I woke up and felt more depressed than I ever have in my entire life. I felt like I was dying on the inside. That night I prayed, and I said, God, I don’t see my life five years from now I'm going to die Jesus save me Lord, please save me. I was weeping when I said it and when I asked him to save me, I felt a presence inside of me like a heartbeat, and I felt it once like a pulse, and I said Lord please save me and I felt it again even stronger. It was like radiance. When I woke up the next morning, I had transformed everything felt brand new like I was a kid again. All my fears and all my racing thoughts everything was gone. I looked at my hands, and I said this can’t be real, it's impossible. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw a different person. I started praying, and the holy spirit became entirely real to me; it was washing over me and inside of me. It was total love and peace, and I heard a voice but not an audible one, it was an inner voice. It said I am with you; I love you, I will never leave you, it’s done it’s finished. That was May 3rd, 2009, and ever since then I’ve followed God, I have seen many things change and many things I know wouldn’t have changed without faith and belief. I know what it’s like to be lost to feel you have no hope. Don’t ever think you’re stuck, or life can’t change because it can. My mom is a Christian now, Its night and day. Some of the things that went away during that period were severe anxiety and my addiction to alcohol. I’ve seen and experienced so many things that are miraculous and seen how God has worked in my life. When we ask God to forgive us for what we’ve done and turn away from our sins and wrongdoings and we believe in Christ's sacrifice everything changes. His word says if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that he died and rose again we will have eternal life but not just life after death but abundant life in the present. Our sins are erased not only past, present, and future but our burdens and fears are lifted also. Our thoughts, our minds, our hearts, our souls are transformed and united with God and we know his spirit lives in us. If you seek, pray, and knock you will know JESUS IS KING!!! HE LIVES!

Joe the Right Triangle Right. Well, the definition of using the Name in vain belongs to the rabbis not to God. I simply cannot comprehend just how reading the Name within the biblical text could possibly be called using it in vain. Otherwise, if they just hid the Name so that people would not know it at all so they wouldn't use it *outside* of the biblical text, that's equally wrong. Hebrews had been commanded to use the name to protect themselves and to vouch for their vows. How could they have done that without knowledge of the Name ? This type of enforced protection against accidental usage in vain is no different than what islamists are doing with their women, putting them in full covering dress so men would not be tempted to lust after them. Where's the virtue of self containment in that ?

@gee hasan I thought taking his name in vain, meant to present yourself as holy when your not, ie you saying your sin is in God's name, and that's vanity, if your trying to reach someone's heart it will be in vain, I never understood your type of reasoning but feel free to enlighten me, but vain in englisg means without effect, or if something is tried in vain, it was useless or impotent, you make it seem like vain means just saying it writing a word without also saying or writing a load of qualifying worshipping to make it not in vain, and by that exposition you've shared, the Lord is who is, and in Hebrew that's Yahweh or whatever, or whatever your post is saying, but surely God is who is, so it doesn't matter what language I speak, I learnt Gaelic in school and water is "iscaa" in English it's water, but it's water regardless of what I call it, or what Gaelic speakers call it or what Chinese call it, so if God is who is, then I don't see why he needs me to know hebrew if that makes sense, and I'm not sure you know what vain means

@gee hasan make straight your ways, and I will make straight mine,
if you don't know what spirit means then consider this, have you ever been embarrassed about being annoyed you lost a game to someone, that was a bruised spirit of pride, or have you ever felt lust descend upon you, that was a spirit, have you made a joke in good humour and also one with a mean spirit, have you ever wallowed in a sad song about lost love, that was a spirit of remorse, you have authority over these spirits not the other way around, tell them to depart and they will, and stop being a zealot I believe what you are doing is taking the Lords name in vain because your self rightous and you'll turn away any sincere seeker or lost person who is trying to be found, God isn't on your side against everyone, he's on everyone's side including you and me by Grace alone because you and I know how far we have fallen from glory, that's Justice and mercy and for that we give thanks and blessings for ever and ever, are you with me brother?

HalleluYah, not J :p Whilst I'm here, to touch up some corrections of this video. Adonai means 'my master', Adon is 'master'. In our English Bibles it should read as Lord= YHWH, God = Elohim. YHWH is never spelt out as Yahweh, for YHWH comes from the Otiot; a pictograph of 22 characters that the Father used - Yod Hey Waw Hey. It is not pronounce Yah Way, as he says, but more like Yah-hwuh - emphasis on the added breath, which tbh he did well in this video but said Way and not Hwuh. He also got how the name Jehova came about wrong, very badly in fact, Jehova more accurately Yehova means ruin, chaos, destruction etc. which YHWH is not. He is not using Paleo Hebrew, but modern Hebrew when showing the name of YHWH; YHWH wrote his name in Paleo Hebrew, which is the most ancient language way before Modern Hebrew, and you can find how it is in Paleo by visiting the Halleluyah Scriptures website which is the most accurate English translation going with all anointing names and passages and it's 100% free because they refuse to make money off of the Word. Shalom!

Peter Neilan Good question. But "I am" is a common English tradition and translation that is not exactly correct and does not convey the full meaning. I will be is more correct. Think of it as God the one who Is , the one who Exists. The Hebrew is much more rich and ancient and is difficult for English to perfect translate

    • @jodyyates681

      just throwing this out there.
" I am that I am" is what I beleive. but that dont tell them much or at least it dont to me. Old testament beleivers didn't really have a description as we do now. Christ came and said I am the resurrection, I am the bread of life, I am the truth the way and the life , I am the true vine and so forth.

    • @22airjordan1
      @22airjordan1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +29

jody yates that's ok. The Scripture speaks to each person in their own special way. But the truth is the old and new testament was not written in English so there is going to be words that have richer meaning when reading the original language. but I believe no matter what language God's word will speak to us and God will make sure his message is received no matter what language. But when God says I am and Jesus. I am in the ancient language really means all tenses. the one who was, who is (am) and who always will be. meaning God exists outiside of our understanding of time. "AM" means all of everything!! We just don't have a word in English that conveys that type of message.

According to 2,458 Hebrew Bible Manuscripts
The Name of God is pronounced: YeHoVaH יְהֹוָה
YOD sheva HEH cholam VAV kamatz HEH.
Proclaim Yehovah's name. It was removed from our Holy Bible's. LORD is a title not a name.
📖The key to understanding the meaning of the name Yehovah in Exodus 3:14 is Ehyeh "I am". Ehyeh literally means "I will be". Yehovah is a combination of three forms of the same verb , "to be": haya ("He was"), hoveh, ("He is"), and Yihiyeh, ("He will be"). When you combine haya, hoveh, and yihiyeh (He was, He is, He will be) you get Yehovah.
Yeshua is DIVINE (Adjective) of, relating to, or proceeding directly from God, the Supreme Being & YeHoVaH is THE DEITY (Noun) God; Supreme Being

    I agree, “I Am.”
Before Abraham was, I AM (John 8:58) refer to Exodus 3:14...
But, the Hebrew hayah (yud hey vav hey) means to exist, to be, to become, to happen, to come to pass, to Be Done.

So I was checking out the words "I AM THAT I AM" and I keep finding the word: הָיָה from Strong's Hebrew concordance number H1961. Pronounced: hâyâh or haw-yaw', mentioned 3,502 times. However, H3068 יְהֹוָה - yehôvâh is mentioned 6,521 times.
