Game Description:
Based on the HBO series The Sopranos. The game takes place between the fifth and sixth seasons and centers on Sal 'Big Pussy' Bonpensiero's illegitimate son, Joey LaRocca, as he moves his way up the family business. Paulie Walnuts is your captain and Tony Soprano your boss. Trouble arises when the Jamaican gang gets involved with AJ which is lead by Desmond. The Philly family also causes trouble by moving onto Tony Soprano's territory in Jersey which is led by Don Buscetta. You work alongside with familiar characters from the show such as Sil, Chrissy, AJ, Vito, and more.

A mob war is brewing after the murder of the Philadelphia boss' nephew. The Sopranos crew has been named as the culprit, and Philadelphia's and New Jersey's most powerful families are about to collide. As the illegitimate son of "Big Pussy," you have to demonstrate your loyalty to Tony Soprano. Starting as a soldier you must make money on collections, protect your turf through intimidation, and gain admiration within your own family to move up in the ranks of the organization. Carry out orders from Paulie, Silvio, Christopher and Tony, and earn your stripes by breaking down enemies through intense verbal interactions. But if you can't get through verbally, send a message by utilizing punishing specialty combat moves, where you can break arms or use random objects as weapons to shattering effect. Use your smarts to earn money, intimidate to create fear, and achieve success to gain admiration and family respect -- turning you into a made man. Follow a compelling story collaborated on by show creator, voiced by the show's key cast members. Carry out orders in familiar locations such as the Bada Bing!, Nuovo Vesuvio's, Satriale's, even the newest Season 6 locations. Hot game soundtrack with a blend of past hits and modern up and coming acts, to help recreate the atmosphere of the hit show.
● Punishing specialty combat moves, with a variety of brutal attack variations (Arm break, etc.)
● Enforce with a sadistic streak to devastating effect - Get your point across with the help of a meat slicer, filing cabinet drawer and other devices
● Inflict damage on your opponent's body, leaving him with impaired or broken limbs, deep swelling cuts/bruises and more
● Dynamic verbal intimidation - Break down opponents by either being hard or playing it cool, impacting the story in real-time by changing your line of attack
● Earn your stripes working for Tony Soprano's crew -- Report to your captain, Paulie Walnuts, as well as Silvio, Christopher and Vito.
Fun fact: Christian Maelen, who provides the voice of Joey LaRocca, was originally David Chase's second choice to play Christopher Moltisanti.

Having the actual cast made this game better
100% agreed.
Of course it made the game better. Glad they didn’t have nobodies to voice act the soprano characters. Instead the actual tv cast themselves.

I mean it's really the only reason the game has any legacy at all at this point. The interiors of the settings and the voice acting with the original cast.
The rest of it is a pretty huge disappointment

I can't believe the show finished up 15 years ago. That ending gives you chills. Man I miss James so much. 2006 was a fantastic year for gangster games. This, Scarface The World Is Yours and The Godfather. I really wish these games get the followings they deserve. They will never age. Why can't games be like this anymore? It makes me shed a tear. We should have got the Xbox 360 version. Absolutely LOVED this video!
This game definitely could not be made today with the sexism / guy jokes. It's crazy that it was 15 years ago! The cast is now old and there will never be another Sopranos game like this since some cast members are dead now similar to The Godfather game.
Not to mention that Tony Sirico who played Paulie is in terrible shape and has Alzheimers..
im buying them all and a used playstation 2 slim all for 300$
2010's "Mafia II" is still my favorite gangster game. The character's were so likeable and the cinematics had a great quality to them, tying the whole story together.

Y'see this making of video was very contradictory .. Because David Chase himself said in interviews that he was NEVER involved in this game.. That it was some higher ups at HBO who made it happen and that he himself was pissed this game was ever made...
At 9:50 the actor who plays Joey LaRocca recalls David Chase suggesting him to be the main character. There are multiple sources that mention David Chase here. Maybe David Chase went back on his word after seeing the poor sales?
@@MafiaGameVideos That would explain why Joey LaRocca never appears or gets mentioned by anyone on the show. Always pissed me off that they didn't get his voice actor to get on the show since he looks exactly like Joey.
Yeah it's possible when they say via David Chase they really just mean HBO.
@@MafiaGameVideosThe actor here is merely speculating that David Chase recommended him for the game. Doesn't prove anything. There are literally interviews from BEFORE the game came out where David Chase says he doesn't care about video games and wants nothing to do with them, so we know for a fact he didn't change his mind after the fact.
@@coltgun876Joey never appeared in the show because the writers for the game are completely different from the writers for the show. The two were never going to cross over.
The Simpsons Hit and Run (with its GTA style sandbox) is the framework that games based on TV shows and movies should be based on. Most fans of a given show or movie would want to freely explore the universe. A Sopranos game of this kind, where you can visit the Soprano house, Johnny Sack's mansion, the Pine Barrens etc would be epic.

Ray Liotta (voice of Tommy) apparently had bad run ins with the people at Rockstar when they were developing the game.
This documentary has more interviews with the cast than any of the DVDs! 🤣

I swear this game wouldve been great if they had the same software engine used to make games like uncharted and la noire.Sadly it would be decades later.
