    The fence separations remind me of Living Traditions Homestead. They sat two fences about 6 feet apart for deer deterrent. Pretty clever.

      The deer whisperer say 3'....first one 18" and the inner one at 48". But there are many variants....most of them are electric!

    For my garden I use Irish spring hanging from fishing line about deer nose high, cut into thirds. As the soap dries out just cut it with a knife to fresh exposed again. I also use a stinky sweaty shirt and put on a rod in the middle of my garden and change it out every couple days. Haven't seen a deer track since

    • @PineyGroveHomestead

      @@KB_2161 No, not even sure where to get that!! And we have no wolves in our area, so would the deer recognize that as danger?

    Very interesting that of human hair and milogranite as deer deterrent.
    I think working on a farm doing anything, takes a lot longer than expected. It is also never ending, sort of like housework.

    • @PineyGroveHomestead
      @PineyGroveHomestead  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Truth! We've tried lots of things over the years to keep the deer out, but this is working the best so far!

    Some farmers around here use spreadable pellitised human crap. Comes in a 40 pound bag. Spread it around the perimeter of the field. Works about a month, check with your local feed store. Wow just heard you mention it

    You can get 550 Paracord for $65 per 1,000-ft roll, so that might be an affordable option in lieu of using twine.

    • @PineyGroveHomestead
      @PineyGroveHomestead  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We had some twine laying around but yes, parachute cord would be more durable!

      bailer twine holds up well in the sun and sells for about $50 per 2 pack of 10,000 ft rolls.

    I'm skeptical too, we have the most determined deer out here that defeat everything. I always wondered how big farms with no fences deal with the deer problem?

    • @PineyGroveHomestead
      @PineyGroveHomestead  ปีที่แล้ว

      Stay tuned. Updates coming. Nothing is 100% for deer except a high fence, but we will share our results in the coming weeks. Big farms just accept the loss because they have large acreage and the deer won't wipe them out. 2-3 deer could wipe out this 1 acre. Thanks for watching.

      I just put a 3D fence up on my 150 foot long kitchen garden in the back yard... I had a doe who was getting in and wreaking havoc in my garden, destroying entire beds nightly. I have an 8 foot fence up but she figured out how to go under it and I had to use long garden staples to pin down the base of the fence and followed that up with t-posts stretched the length of the garden with 2 lines of thick twine - I spaced the t-posts 3 feet from the 8 foot fence and it stopped them cold. They quite literally were stymied - I will keep surprising them with new obstacles and ways to screw with their heads and see how it goes.

      @@PineyGroveHomestead i found it after i wrote you :) ... But how far apart did you put your posts? i don't remember hearing you say. I think some do as far as 25 ft? I'm 68 yr old female and trying grow enough food for a year. I have one garden with wired fence for rabbits and electric at the top, but it isn't large enough especially for growing vining plants. I thought I would try this type of fence for portable gardens and simplicity

      @@zepguwlthistle7924 It really doesn't matter how far away the posts are from each other....as long as they can hold up the wire. The biggest thing is to have 3' between the inner and outer fence.
