I'm actually using some of my older MPC 2000XL sampling techniques with my Live... using more creativity to build my sampled melodies... versus just sampling straight loops, I'm also back to sampling records and TH-cam music finds, versus buying sample packs... my older samples seemed to be much more creative, especially coming from an ASR-10 whereas I had to sample everything unless I ordered a mail in drum kits...lol #Salute
Hey I'm trying to put sample in a pack and attach a cover art picture , I see that you can do by using akai builder , however I went to install the desktop software but it was promted with ILOK, which I don't want to use , so I bailed the installation Is there any other way around it to make expansion pack with your own picture cover..... so far I made a Jackie Chan snake in the eagals shadow kit and I done some Mario and Sonic Kits would be so cool to have pictures to go with it , if you can help that would be great 👍
@simcitybigworldmedia do I haven't tested it but I do have a theory that might work. Pretty simple. Open an existing expansion that you may have from akai. Open it on your computer and look how the image is formated or even just labeled. Go and do the same for your expansion. Save it name it how the expansion is.
I've been making music for around 25 years ish , I got my first ever MPC One + the other day , im confused how to use it , I am learning slow , but I'm finding it really addictive and keep going back wanting to learn more , thanks to your TH-cam videos its been helping me out 👍
Well thank You for dropping in and subscribing 🙏 I definitely can help with some basics. If you get stuck on anything just lmk and I'll help however I can. My email is also available in the bio.
I just got an MPC Key 61 for my birthday and I’m completely new to this technology. Ive scoured TH-cam and watched so many videos trying to learn this board and none of the videos explain things like you do. Brotha I’m glad I found you on here. I hope to chop it up with you one day while I learn this board. Thank you for the videos, it’s so helpful bro 🙏
Thank You 🙏 I appreciate the good words. Sometimes we just resonate with certain voices. Glad I could be helpful. Moving forward I'll do some more key 37 videos. Also considering doing one on one lessons in the future. Thanks for dropping in! Enjoy that keyboard 61 it's a great piece!
@@LiftedNoise thank you for the words of encouragement. I just want to learn and have fun. If you do the one on one sessions I would be up for it most definitely. Always down to support
@LiftedNoise Exactly! I copied the pads on Maschine Plus here and there, but I'm 100% more comfortable chopping the samples manually (lazy or micro chop), and convert it to a program. I tried copying the pads for a while, but I get a better feel for the sample when I chop
Definitely like the manual and auto chop features now, so I'm moving towards using that more now bit it just wasn't the same in older mpc. Always appreciate you stopping in bro 🙏 much love and respect ✌️
Thats exacly how i do it. I find tgat when you use lazy chop you just end up doing the same thing you would get with regions. You miss all those dope kind of in between chops. I also do it in sample edit under program
Yeah, somehow, I completly ditched the chop menu entirely aswell. I like to adjust my chops in the programm menu, it's even faster when u use the 4 q-link page with start or stop highlighted. That way, u can use the big knob to adjust, 4th q-link to zoom in or out and the pads to select the sample.
That's a very interesting process... I didn't really understand the "mute group" part, I just recently started chopping, when I used to just use "start and end points" for whatever sample parts I wanted to use (coming from 2000XL days), I now do a combination of both... but there was a part of your video that gave me an idea... you hit a kick the same time you pressed the sample pad, and they simultaneously started, and from watching one of your older videos, I'm gonna try something, I'm gonna "layer a kick and maybe some other sound/s" with the start of some of my more difficult samples to use as a starting point ... So Thanks again X's 2!!1 LOL #Salute #MPCGang - Rich From Philly... check out some of work when you get a chance, I'm definitely already Sub'd to you
Fam can make a new Video using 3.0 MPC . Copy feature .. what I needed ..NI has a dedicated duplicate button.. This way you can grab a long sample .. copy to multiple pads .. set different start points .. / ends .. Sometime you have a sample with different sections you need in the same Bank / program… Thanks ..
Yea you can definitely do that. Didn't I show that in this video. I'll look at it, possibly can make a video but, there's a physical copy button, should be the same in MPC 3.
How has your SAMPLE CHOPPING evolved?
Sample anything other than 4/4 timing, like 3/4 or 7/8 helped expand my sampling techniques. It can be challenging at times but helps!

Dope! I’ve used the program edit to chop but didn’t know about the play head cheatcode in sample edit 🎉
😎🍻
Dope video bro!! That was how I chopped when I had the Maschine Plus, but I go to Sample Edit, Select Chop, Slice and Dice, and convert it.🙏🏾✊🏾💚
Right I think that's how maschine best behaves but your saying you don't do the copy pad anymore with the mpc..?
@LiftedNoise Exactly! I copied the pads on Maschine Plus here and there, but I'm 100% more comfortable chopping the samples manually (lazy or micro chop), and convert it to a program. I tried copying the pads for a while, but I get a better feel for the sample when I chop

Exactly, it seems like a less boxed in approach. More freedom to color outside the lines.
Definitely will be using that… Appreciate the hard work!
Ay man I appreciate the word 🙏
Always Value Bruh!
😎🙏 I appreciate it bro!

Dope bro i use to chop like that on my 2000xl and still do when i use my XL But on my live2 I’m lazy. lol 🙃
I didn't know there was a copy pad option on older MPCs..?
Dope track bro I like the sample chops it reminds me of just blaze and Kanye west how they sample
That's what's up! 2 big inspirations 🙏
Word. That would be dope if Roland made it possible to copy audio and pad parameters per pad. Besides that, dope video.
Definitely. Do you know of a place to submit requests? Thanks for the comment 🙏
I dont even use a mpc, but good vid..and the beat was hard

@Phrozen716 good tip bro! On it 🍻
Yo yo
Yo what's good bro! Thanks for stopping ✋️
Raul. Just make the damn music already man!! Every time you make these damn videos you delay the process.
Good point Ralph!! I appreciate the tough love 🙏
False advertising - i expected to see chopping on retro MPC
With an MPC LIVE on the thumbnail why would you expect that?
