When the boys were very young, their father, George Osmond, choreographed their barbershop routines, but after they started appearing on The Andy Williams Show in 1963, Andy’s choreographer, Nick Castle, taught them to dance and he choreographed their routines on the show. After they left The Andy Williams Show in the late ‘60s, they eventually met martial arts expert Chuck Norris, who choreographed their concert routines during the early-mid’70s. Jay Osmond choreographed their routines on The Donny & Marie Show, and he later choreographed their line dance routines when they went country for a while in the ‘80s. This routine for “Yo Yo” (from The Flip Wilson Show in 1971) was inspired by the martial art of Chuck Norris, and he may have actually choreographed it.

I was lucky enough to see them live 3 times in the 70s. Donnie was singing “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” & when he said “Honey you lied when you said you loved me@ I yelled out - in a fairly quiet arena - “No I didn’t” The audience and Donny laughed and he said “I love you too.” My 6 year old mind knew we were going to get married.😂

Alan, Wayne, Merrill, and Jay were the original singing Osmonds. Sister Marie and brother Jimmy came later. Tommy and Virl are the two oldest brothers who are hearing impaired. They have been on the Osmond Christmas shows dancing, and, if I remember correctly, playing the piano and saxophones. Their mother taught them how to feel the vibrations. Their 25th and 50th Anniversary shows are fantastic where the four brothers perform, Marie, Donny, and Jimmy do solos, and they all join together, especially at the end. I have seen the Osmonds in Missouri, Illinois, and several times in Las Vegas, and their shows are awesome. Alan, born in 1949, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and has retired; Wayne, born in 1951, had a brain tumor removed several years ago and has retired; Merrill, born in 1953, just recently retired; Jay, born in 1955, and if I'm correct, is semi-retired; Donny, born in 1957, still performs currently in Vegas; Marie, born in 1959, still performs; and Jimmy, born in 1963, suffered a stroke a few years ago and has retired. Subscribed to your channel last year, and I think the two of you do an excellent job! I'm 73 yrs old, still love the Osmonds, and enjoy watching the two of you. On a side note, Alan's sons perform as the Osmonds 2nd generation, and their song "Hand Over Your Heart" is beautiful. To hear a "production" number by Donny, listen to "Any Dream Will Do" -- "Give Me My Colored Coat" from "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". He sings with Maria Friedman and they sound great together. Since this is from the production, they are in costumes.

Marie and Donny had a TV show in the late seventies. And Marie had her own country music (paper roses). My sister still loves Donny and was very excited when he did Masked Singer.

THAT LEAD ROCK AND ROLL VOICE you asked about is Merrill Osmond! 😍Woo! I loved it when I was a kid and I still do! Donny Osmond is just too cute though. 😍 Jay Osmond is the primary dance routine choreographer and also the drummer in the family. Oh, if you do Marie Osmond for 'Female Friday' Do her first hit "Paper Roses" that was released in 1973 she may have been either 13 or 14, I am guessing. I am so glad you enjoyed this video, and I enjoyed your reaction! ☮💕

JAY Osmond did the choreography for “Crazy Horses “and some of the others but not this one. For this one a professional choreographer did this one!

Check out there’s several videos of Marie singing “HE AI’NT HEAVY HE’S MY BROTHER “ with the brothers!! That song was sort of their theme song.

Eldest to youngest: Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay and Donny
This was literally just months before Donny's voice changed, so quite a treasure.
It was one of their deaf brothers who actually taught the boys how to dance and then Jay became the primary choreographer for the group.
Would love for you to do "Osmond Brothers- Side by Side" from Disneyland After Dark, April 15th, 1962. This is (I think) their earliest commercial performance you can find on video. It's the eldest four boys before Donny joined, it's short, and it's prior to their Pop/Rock stuff but it's an incredible look at their sheer musical talent and how they got started as just little boys. This was where they caught the attention of Any Williams' father, which got them on Andy's show where they became weekly regulars.

This is my favorite reaction video you guys have done. I've been suggesting this song on a few other reactions. I knew you would really like this one. The Osmonds are a very tight knit family. Their dad was a strong leader. The Osmonds kind of broke up in 1975 to focus on doing the Donnie and Marie show. The family built a studio out in Utah (where they're from) which cost a fortune thinking the show would last longer than 4 years. It was a very good show, but like I said, it only lasted 4 years. They fell on some hard times financially that is too long to go into here. But pulling together as a family over the years, they have rebounded well. There is a sister Marie Osmond. She had a number 1 hit at 13 named Paper Roses. To my knowledge she did not perform with the brothers until later years. There was also a very young Jimmy who was huge in Japan. If I'm not mistaken, he had a big hit album over there when he was like 5. . I loved how you guys were dancing along with the song. I was dancing right along with you....lol Great reaction video guys.

The music wasn't particularly deep (we had Yes and Pink Floyd for that!) but their music was just a lot of fun. They toured continuously until Merril (the one singing lead here) decided to retire. I was lucky enough to see them live during this time and they were incredible. Very wholesome, but still slick pop stars. Love your reaction! The reason that their moves are so perfect is because they spent 7 years on the Andy Williams Show, where they sang, danced and played numerous instruments. By the time the Osmond Brothers were out on their own, they had already done it all. Lead singer is Merrill, who would have been 18 in this video. Alan is the oldest and he would have been 22 with Wayne 20, Jay 16 and Donny 13. Merrill did a lot of the choreography in the earlier days, with Jay taking over by the time the Donny & Marie Show aired. All are awesome singers, dancers and musicians.
