More of a soft services FM with main responsibilities being Reception, Cleaning, Photocopiers and some part of hard services such as AC maintenance and daily issues, repairs etc.
Does a Pest control maintenance contract makes part of a specialist service or a soft service? I have always thought it's considered a soft service of the FM. We use a pest control company who attends callous for sightings of mice activities, but also carries out preventative maintenance such as weekend sticky board operations periodically.
Iam a fresher hotel management graduate with 6 months indistrial training and I ve got offer in a facility management company as a waiter in gulf..can I proceed this offer..will I have good career in future??please reply me your suggestion when you are free..
It can be confusing, for sure! I would say that FM as a whole is a Support Service - it is there to support the core business of the organisation along with other support services such as HR, IT etc (see the video on 'What is FM' - th-cam.com/video/IRepGz0I6JU/w-d-xo.html). Hard, Soft and Specialist services are as described in the video. Building Services is a bit of a grey area, but generally speaking it tends to be interchangeable with Hard Services. This can vary between organisations, however - like you said, it can be confusing!
And today's question - are you a hard services Facilities Manager, soft services FM or do you cover both?
