I'm glad to have stumbled on this video. I've been beating myself up mentally, for the past couple of weeks. Thought a female friend wanted to be more (very large cluster of "signs she's interested", only 1 or 2 "signs she's just being nice"), so I took my shot and told her how I felt. It backfired, and now she doesn't to be in each other's lives. I've been doubting/second guessing myself since that night, that I had read too much into things. The mistake you made is telling her how you feel. It would have been better to ‘show’ rather than tell. Practically speaking this would mean creating situations where you could go out with her without calling it a date and use the opportunity to flirt with her and build tension/chemistry with the aim of making a move to kiss her. If that’s not going to happen then you’ll know about it quite quickly and you can move on to another girl. Telling a girl how you feel about her is the fastest way to make her reject you.

I joined a fitness class 2 months ago and the lady who organizes it once a week ( she isn't the instructor, but shes the one who brings the instructors in and locks the places up afterward ) has been showing some of these signs but I still can't tell if she's just being nice. Funny thing this timing is... I just met someone on Wednesday and we seemed to hit it off immediately, and in just a short period of time I saw nearly every single one of the signs that she's interested in me. When I see her she gives heart to heart hugs that linger, says things like I smell really good, says things about how she just loves my energy, we were in a photo together and she texted me saying people think it’s engagement photos (maybe she testing the waters here?). This has nothing to do with romance, but the concept of interested-VS-just-being-nice remains. The subject is my half-sister's dad. I felt like he didn't really give me a lot of attention when picking up or dropping off my sister (though I was very little, so what would I remember anyway). Then I stayed over at his and his family's house with my sister for a week or two, when I was eight. Once in the summer, the other in November. Well, when I reunited the dad in 2015 for my sister's college graduation and her wedding in 2019, I felt like he was a little too interactive with me. All peppy and "I'm-a-big-fan-of-John" attitude. It was actually kind of annoying. At my sister's wedding, he commented how good the food looked in line, compared our heights when the conversation about mine came up, and fist-bumped me about some funny joke I must've made (my memory is vague). I don't know, I wonder if he was just embellishing his admiration of me. I tried to be close to him and his family and maybe he was giving me too much "fatherly" affection in response. But maybe because he felt like he had to? If that's the case, I don't want it. It's kind of like going on a pity date with someone. You just don't do that.
All of these signs of sexual interest may also mean that she likes you as a potential mate for life, husband and father of her children. And signs that she is falling in love with you. From my experience, I see that the line between sexual attraction, love, and husband-hunting is much more blurred for women than for men.
Yes I've experienced all of these from the "she likes you category" but I didn't pick up on. Especially in years gone by. The just being nice category I always picked up on those. Missed opportunity. I was something like 33. She was something like 23. She was a graduate student working for the research team I was on (not at a university). I was initially dating someone else but somehow knew it wasn't going to last. I let the age difference and the professional work environment stop me from exploring this. Got one for you. At church she said I need to bring guys I know to church so she can get to know them, I said sorry they not interested in church. Then in the evening we both have same Bible group study. This whole time I hadn’t noticed her spend much attention on me. But months later, I attended a homeless feeding that I finally could go too that friends invited. She also showed up, turns out we have couple same friends. I was helping out there and talking to someone at same time. She walks in late, in my area. I just said hi and continued doing my thing. When the homeless started going through the line, I went to pour drinks at drink table on other side of where everyone was. She walked all the way around tables and people talking to two guys and then she just hung out with me talking. It seemed like she started paying attention to me from then on at homeless feeding event Thursday following me around. I don’t know why she never gave me attention at church Sunday morning and Sunday evening Bible group. She invited me to eat with her group of friends after homeless feeding and she didn’t sit next to me or talk much. Not sure.

I'm glad to have stumbled on this video. I've been beating myself up mentally, for the past couple of weeks. Thought a female friend wanted to be more (very large cluster of "signs she's interested", only 1 or 2 "signs she's just being nice"), so I took my shot and told her how I felt.
It backfired, and now she doesn't to be in each other's lives. I've been doubting/second guessing myself since that night, that I had read too much into things.

The mistake you made is telling her how you feel.
It would have been better to ‘show’ rather than tell.

I joined a fitness class 2 months ago and the lady who organizes it once a week ( she isn't the instructor, but shes the one who brings the instructors in and locks the places up afterward ) has been showing some of these signs but I still can't tell if she's just being nice. She does initiate most if not all of these interactions since i'm a pretty shy person.
- She offers to give me lifts home as i'm around a 40 minute walk from the class and I don't drive. She knew I didn't drive but didn't know how far I was walking either. Winter is here now so she's taking me home each week. Though she did start offering and taking me home before the weather started to get really cold
- We've had some deeper vulnerable convos in the car as she's taking me home, like our struggles with family and some other things.

I just met someone on Wednesday and we seemed to hit it off immediately, and in just a short period of time I saw nearly every single one of the signs that she's interested in me.
We were introduced by a mutual friend that has known her for a while, and told me up front that she's really shy and introverted. However, from the beginning she seemed to be everything but.
She among other things, took my hand as I was starting to use a salt shaker and helped me use it. She was occasionally bouncing around in her chair and singing along with the songs when one came up that she liked.
Add an innuendo or two, and once it was time for her to leave, I was attempting to stand up to shake her hand, and instead of taking my extended hand, she lunged at me instead and gave me a hug, while resting her head on my shoulder.
Shortly afterward, I turned to the friend that introduced her and I, and said "Quiet and shy?"
The response was:
"I have no idea what just happened. I never saw anything like that before."

However, she talked about an ex… he stopped by one day and she was asking me all excited “why did he stop by?!” She was smiling a lot and it kind of seemed playful. 🤷♂️

Then talked about her sexy dresses at home and what she was wearing then was nothing to how she really looks. That was very obvious. Have one gal does a lot of both categories. When I see her she gives heart to heart hugs that linger, says things like I smell really good, says things about how she just loves my energy, we were in a photo together and she texted me saying people think it’s engagement photos (maybe she testing the waters here?).
Seems like absolute interest right? Well while she also smiles at me she doesn’t blush, doesn’t fidget, doesn’t play with her hair, doesn’t bite her lip, holds eye contact like a good communicator (no deer in the headlights look like I normally get from an interested girl), energy remains the same, even though we have each others numbers to check in with certain things in business she makes zero effort to carry a conversation past one text, will often just let things be.
Data points in both camps, my gut tells me she entertains the idea, but is overall indifferent or uninterested. More than likely finds me attractive but has no interest in getting into anything.

This has nothing to do with romance, but the concept of interested-VS-just-being-nice remains. The subject is my half-sister's dad. I felt like he didn't really give me a lot of attention when picking up or dropping off my sister (though I was very little, so what would I remember anyway). Then I stayed over at his and his family's house with my sister for a week or two, when I was eight. Once in the summer, the other in November. I don't know if I asked if I could join my sister, but there's a pretty good chance I did, to invite myself into her family. I even wrote them a letter in 2013 because I missed them so much. Well, when I reunited the dad in 2015 for my sister's college graduation and her wedding in 2019, I felt like he was a little too interactive with me. All peppy and "I'm-a-big-fan-of-John" attitude. It was actually kind of annoying. At my sister's wedding, he commented how good the food looked in line, compared our heights when the conversation about mine came up, and fist-bumped me about some funny joke I must've made (my memory is vague). I don't know, I wonder if he was just embellishing his admiration of me. I tried to be close to him and his family and maybe he was giving me too much "fatherly" affection in response. But maybe because he felt like he had to? If that's the case, I don't want it. It's kind of like going on a pity date with someone. You just don't do that.
All of these signs of sexual interest may also mean that she likes you as a potential mate for life, husband and father of her children. And signs that she is falling in love with you. From my experience, I see that the line between sexual attraction, love, and husband-hunting is much more blurred for women than for men.

Yes I've experienced all of these from the "she likes you category" but I didn't pick up on. Especially in years gone by. The just being nice category I always picked up on those. The mentioning other dude thing was the one that I always found really insulting, just saying. Resolution: been getting out there more this year. The most obvious sign to me is her physical both behaviour but also closenes and touchyness.. For example, if she shares very private things with you when you are alone, if she stands up and down on you resting on your shoulder and so on and being physically playful.. Sadly being friendly is always interpreted as a sign to progress. Too many people see what they want to see and use a person's friendliness to try and manipulate situations. This is when you begin to see the creeps come out, as they violate boundaries and try to engineer interactions all under the guise of just being friendly.
Missed opportunity. I was something like 33. She was something like 23. She was a graduate student working for the research team I was on (not at a university). I was initially dating someone else but somehow knew it wasn't going to last. I let the age difference and the professional work environment stop me from exploring this. And she pretty much did everything on this list to say she was interested in me. Just couldn't get past the hang-ups.

Got one for you. At church she said I need to bring guys I know to church so she can get to know them, I said sorry they not interested in church. Then in the evening we both have same Bible group study. This whole time I hadn’t noticed her spend much attention on me. But months later, I attended a homeless feeding that I finally could go too that friends invited. She also showed up, turns out we have couple same friends. I was helping out there and talking to someone at same time. She walks in late, in my area. I just said hi and continued doing my thing.
When the homeless started going through the line, I went to pour drinks at drink table on other side of where everyone was. She walked all the way around tables and people talking to two guys and then she just hung out with me talking. It seemed like she started paying attention to me from then on at homeless feeding event Thursday following me around. I don’t know why she never gave me attention at church Sunday morning and Sunday evening Bible group. She invited me to eat with her group of friends after homeless feeding and she didn’t sit next to me or talk much. Not sure.
Thank you for the great advise, it is fairly accurate. I have experienced this type of behavior from women, often it is from women I did not find all that attractive. Story of my life, the ones that like me, I don't like, or are quite simply "trouble".

This is very intriguing. I have a co-worker that I have developed a bit of a crush on & a mutual friend of ours has actually suggested I make a move on her. We've become friends & started loosely hanging out by going to the gym a few times starting back in January. The gym thing fell off for a bit because she works overtime & then was on a family vacation.
About a month ago, I had this idea pop in my head. Tickets were going on sale for an live music event in August that I was going to go to with some friends. It came to me to get 2 tickets & ask if she wanted to go. I figured to go out on a limb & try it. If it became a waste of money then oh well. When we were working together next I brought up the event & that I have an extra ticket to which she got a bit excited saying that it sounds like a lot of fun & that she'd love to go. I was honestly shocked she was interested.
To put it into perspective, I see myself as a bit of a nerd/geek. I'm a gamer, but I enjoy health & fitness activities, along an array of others. However, I'm not exactly fit, but can tell the progress I've made. Her, on the otherhand, is absolutely beautiful & in all seriousness a kind person. When we talk & I make certain comments or do certain things, she does say "that's so sweet" in response. I feel like I'm just completely out of her league in my opinion.
