I also already knew much of Somali history of the sultanates and kingdoms too but I might not have read Ibn Battutah if it weren't for you. I'm from the UK but my mother is Moroccan.

Salam Sam. The history of Somali's are always in their poems and the way they have a good memorization of any events . I have seen a person who can memorize the whole Quran in a day and deliver the exact words to the next village with out even recite the Quran twice . Trust me on that .. those guys are so educated . Naima Ali depends on the language and how much help you are getting. Spanish took me about 2 years, BSL about a year and Arabic took about 3 years to be confident. but Arabic is so huge, I still have so much to learn.
