      alanbev you're talking about the medieval times like this is happening now that was hundreds of years ago no one does that

      Abdirahman Yasin somalia had the ajuran, adal, majerteen, warsangali and many more empires during medievial times who fought against portuguese invaders in naval werfare. They traded all the way to china and the medeivial somali currency can be found in the middle east. Mogadisho city is one of the oldest cities in the world. Go read books and stop beleiving these trolls who had no civilization at all.

    Your video title was enough to get me to search for Ibn Battutah. I'd heard the name before but you made me read his entire Wikipedia article, and it was so fascinating.
    I also already knew much of Somali history of the sultanates and kingdoms too but I might not have read Ibn Battutah if it weren't for you.
    I'm from the UK but my mother is Moroccan.

    I love what you said at the start about people thinking somalia started in the 90s judging by how they talk about it...wallahi if somalis stopped this and bothered to dig into their history they would all fly back home with their degrees and money to make Somalia the amazing nation it once was...this is why I ALWAYS say don’t forget your motherland no matter where you’re from because many broken countries are still broken because the people of that land left and made other lands their home and I think it’s sad because many of these countries were amazing

    Salam Sam. The history of Somali's are always in their poems and the way they have a good memorization of any events . I have seen a person who can memorize the whole Quran in a day and deliver the exact words to the next village with out even recite the Quran twice . Trust me on that .. those guys are so educated . Somalis are oral society and their history is deeply rooted in their poems. I will not wonder if they say any thing about Ibn battutah in their poems and prose .

    Sam you're wonderful. There are many articulate & educated Somalis (like myself) from all over the world. For more than a decade we've been discussing the history, heritage, anthropology, genetics, ancient trade, warfare, invasions, explorers, civilizations, empires basically everything to do with Somalia on every social site that you can think of. Many of our forums, posts & threads have been deleted or discontinued. There are also many shills working against us. We've come to the conclusion that the powers that be want to eradicate us, our history & heritage. The great Turkish Proffesor Muhammed Shamsaddin Megalommatis confirmed this numerous times in his many articles & books about Somalia. The Anglo/French Masonic powers have been trying for centuries. In every way you can possibly think of but God willing they will never succeed I just know it. Somalia has gone through so much this past few decades. One day soon Somalia will rise above all this & once again gain power, impact & influence in the world. Thank you for your passion & love for our country & all the time & effort you put into your work. God bless you inshallah 💙💚💛

    Ibn Batulla is a Moroccan from Amazigh (Barber) tribe and not Arab. He mastered arabic as it was a communication tool berween muslims. According to today' arabs, any body who wrote in arabic is arab to them when the opposite is true . Scholars like inb khaldoun, ibn sina(Avicenna) and many more were from other tribes.

    We were studying the pharaohs of Egeypt and I found it out that they use to trade with punt which today is a city in Somalia 'buntland'. If you look back the Aboriginals in Australia there were originally from Somalia but going through a lot of countries like some islands in India and that is more than 40,000 years ago so it is not surprising to see Somalis traveling because they were the first people in history to travel around that are known.

    Somalia had amusing history but unfortunately it's not writen down because Somali people were orally storytellers passing one generation to another but couldn't last forever and soon people had forgotten, in my generation who were kids when civil war broke out don't remember that much except the death and devastation of the war, let alone the new generations either they born home. or abroad.
    pray to Almighty to take us all home one day save and sound

      No it is written down alhamdulilah and it’s actually really helpful when mythbusting argobba hararis other Ethiopians even banadiris and barawanis. Arab historians wrote a lot on Somalia. But there also accounts by Greeks, Chinese, Portuguese. So foreigners did a lot for us, we just don’t write ourselves. Although minimal work has been done in terms of archaeology. We’ve uncovered so much ruins predating islam, interior cities in Somalia, and artefacts: Roman Nubian sabaean greek etc.

    • @ama2552
      @ama2552 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Somalis in bari were invited on trade expeditions during the Song Dynasty somewhere around late 900s to early 1000s. And they wrote on this in depth. So we have a great well recorded history, unfortunately Somalis read colonial works which revise history and tend to attribute our achievements to other groups, the kacaan government was reliant on these works too. Despite medieval scholars completing destroying those claims. Honestly it’s extremely unfair that Somalis have been reduced to just nomads, we need more academic institutes to revive our history.

    Some sources refute his claims and say that he never traveled, rather he reproduced stories he heard or read from other people. Still, many contents in his book are educational.

      Mohamed Uzair The reason Somalis are Muslim is because many of the Asahaba and other early Muslims at the advent of Islam, during the holy war, fearing capture, were forced to escape to Somalia during the holy war. They found peace in Somalia, settled and married. There was Islam in Somalia before some Arab countries.

    العلاقة التجارية بين شرق أفريقيا والأمم الأخرى أن سكان هذه المنطقة القدامى كان لهم نوع من الحضارة والتمدن وهذا ما لا نراه في الصوماليين الأوائل لأنهم كانو بدو رحل لا حضارة لهم حتى في وقت قريب، فكيف يمكن لأمة كانت لها حضارة واتصال مع حضارات اخري ان تتحول الي بدو بدون أن تترك أثرا يدل بوجودها وتحول حالها من التحضر الي البداوة. يبدو لي ان سكان هذه المنطقة القدامي الذين يحدثنا التاريخ عنهم ما كانو صوماليين، بل كانو امما آخرى انقرضوا او هجروا وحل محلهم الصوماليون

      Naima Ali BSL means British Sign Language.

    • @SamOfSomaliaTV
      @SamOfSomaliaTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Naima Ali depends on the language and how much help you are getting. Spanish took me about 2 years, BSL about a year and Arabic took about 3 years to be confident. but Arabic is so huge, I still have so much to learn.
