Jake Mitch bro that doesn’t mean they’re not insecure. They are movie stars with millions of dudes drooling over them and they still get plastic surgery, botox, fillers, all that shit...why? Because they’re insecure about parts of their body and face. Social media has made 90% of people in my generation selfed out lol.

@@greenthizzle4 Most of those girl are on social media at such high frequency because they have low self esteem. They get dopamine hits everytime you like or comment on their picture and literally become addicted. Constantly seeking out validation online from people you don't know is a very bad trait to have. Unfortunately many women today have this issue lol.

Been suffering from Depression getting attacked and harassed constantly by trolls because I have Autism and weird interest. I've been contemplating suicide after being told multiple times to go kill myself. Had to quit Discord, Twitter, and Facebook because of toxicity. I learned to get out more. 4 years ago I deleted my social media. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Did I lose 99% of my friends and felt a senses of alienation? Yes. I was lonely and felt isolated for 6-7 months. Would I do it again? 💯 Totally because I got to work on myself, since I have so much time, I workout everyday, read books everyday, learned to cook, eat heathy, save money the list goes on. But Most importantly I am just happy and at peace. Social media robbed that from me. I’m glad people started talking about this.

Most women and, more importantly most girls, do their hair and makeup/contouring and their “body goals” the way Kim Kardashian popularized - like, even that Sophia girl who was always on the Ellen show rapping. This are the only one that you can interact with people, and perhaps being in a group can help you catch up in many subjects they might be talking.... But to be honest.. it is much better to talk about those things in person, have real interactions... And now we have children using Social Media and getting targeted by creeps and pedophiles. When I was a kid, I didn't have a phone or a tablet. I actually spent most of my time outside riding my bike, playing with chalk, and hanging out with the kids on my street. And I was happy. Didn't care for MySpace, or Facebook, or Twitter. I didn't get my first phone til I was 15. And that was to make emergency calls to my mom just in case I got sick or needed medicine. I miss the 90s and early 00s I couldn’t wait to go out or hang out with my friends. I wasn’t scared of being myself because everyone was different and that was actually a good thing. Being at home was nice you would actually think about things rather then being distracted by your smartphone or the internet. TV movies actors was great back then but we still got bored and went out. We were enjoying the moment now you go to a concert or even a restaurant and people would whip their phones out. We all talked to each other and enjoyed having conversations. We were creative and adventurous. Now everything we see or talk about is from the internet. We literally stopped using our brain. What’s worst is most of us who remember the amazing times we had without internet are also addicted to it, even when we know we’re miserable. The government got us by our balls now because they have all our data including our location what we like watch and feel. Corporations getting richer of this data, eventually all our income will be controlled and deducted whenever the government wants. Now AIs are coming into play as well. We all need to step and and think about where we’re heading because it’s only been a couple of years with this technology and it’s already messing us up. Funny thing is, we all thought we’ll get connected to each other with the internet but we’re so disconnected from each other.

We've reached the point where people, quite literally, spend more time on their phones than they do experiencing 'real life'. Social media, podcasts, pornography, dating apps, etc. have all lead us to believe that there are more interesting things in our phones than in reality. As a result, we don't invest time in getting to know people and having real social interactions. Even when young people do go for a coffee, they're often sitting opposite each other, immersed in their phones. It's a sickness, and is naturally causing us to feel anxious and depressed.

I’m 18 so I grew up with the whole big boom of social media. I feel like the only reason I don’t use it is because I didn’t grow up with it. I didn’t get my first phone till I was a freshman in HS so I was stunted on the whole social media knowledge. I tried using Instagram but I couldn’t get into it. It didn’t make any sense to me. Why would someone post about their lives? Who cares what you had for breakfast, or what movie you saw? I sure don’t so I’ll save you the trouble of looking at my boring shit. And I always preferred to talk or tell stories in person. It just feels much better, you’re able to use your body language, tone, and, emotion to help create a more vivid story. I don’t know, people can do whatever they want and it does feel really weird to be my age and not use social media. I get a lot of “Really? Why not? Everyone has a Snapchat though.” So the pressure is definitely their but I can’t be bother to follow through with it. I just don’t know how to use it and I feel like it’s one thing I’m happy not learning.

    Social media ruined my relationship
I still miss the old her, I watched her change right in front of my eyes. In 2020 things were amazing with her. We barely used social media as much meaning we never posted and me and her were exclusive to each other. I loved when she would send me selfies of her exclusively then she started to take selfies exclusively for Instagram. We would be on the phone and she wouldn’t be present. She’d be watching tiktoks or on Instagram or Twitter while I was talking. We started talking less and less we even stopped doing things like playing video games together. It really hurt to see her change. There was a time where I was suicidal and very depressed and the only person I could rely on was her. She posted a picture and started following this guy and became friends with him while I was suicidal. I asked her “are you texting him”, she told me no and I believed her. The next time she posted a month the guy commented on her picture. I knew something was up, she claims they were just friends but I still have my speculations. It just hurt because while I was at my lowest she was only worried about making friends with a guy from Instagram that she didn’t even know. A guy from a totally different state at that. And she even lied to me multiple times before she finally confessed and told me. Prior to this she would like things that she knew bothered me. Like a celebrity with his six pack showing and she would have celebrity crushes. She would talk about them with her friends on Twitter calling them “hot”. One of her friends even asked her “what baseball player do you want” right on my Twitter timeline. *we followed each other* It hurt so much to see her change for social media. It hurt so much seeing her choose it over me. It really did. I often reminisce about old times but doing this only hurts me in the end. I miss when we didn’t post on Instagram and didn’t care about if others knew about our lives. I miss when we would talk more. I miss when we only knew about what we had going on instead of other people. I miss when we didn’t care about making friends from other cities and states. I understand that she didn’t have many friends but she forgot about the one who was there from the beginning. She told me she was suicidal once and she didn’t answer the phone the next day. I cried and cried and called her and I was so relieved when she picked up the phone. But when I do it all she cared about was making friends with a stranger a thousand miles away. Things like this really make you question your worth. In the end we broke up and she put my suicide in my face. She sort of mocked me. And even when she did that, I could’ve put hers in her face as well. But why would I do that if I loved her? What if I would’ve said that and she did it ? She didn’t care to thing about the consequences of saying that. For all she know I could be dead right now. She didn’t try to check up on me or anything? And even after we broke up I checked her account maybe 3 days later and she posted a new picture. Why did she let social media consume her? Why?

You're right... because social media is designed to be addictive and easy to use, lots of novelty information at the reach of 1 scroll with your thumb.
Social media is engineered to a point where seeing numbers of likes, follows and simply scrolling makes your brain produce dopamine which is why it becomes so "addictive" it can actually become a behavioral addiction at some point due to the amounts of reward, and eventually we start to enjoy less our rewards on a day-today basis...
So it all comes down to the realization of this for each of the users and control themselves... even though it's kind of giving someone a drug and not expect them to become addicted, some will and some won't and it also depends on their current life situation.

A couple of years ago, I was walking through the airport, my phone was dead and I was going to get to my gate to plug in. I started watching people. As everyone walked into the airport they were in their phones. Into TSA, everyone on their phones, nobody looking up. Next to the train and on the train, literally every single person bent over on their phones, most with headphones in. To the gate, everyone sitting on their phones, laptops, or iPads. Almost everyone with headphones. Boarding, same thing, before takeoff, same thing. Until the door closed and some people had to be asked to turn the phone off did it stop. Then people jumped to music and iPads. As son as the plane landed, everyone back on the phones. It was like we were all plugged into the matrix. That trip I watched everything. Groups together at dinner not talking because they were all in their phone, etc. It was super scary to see the control and how people did not even look, listen, or talk. We were all zombies.

I was born in 2002 and I'm turning 19 next month. I still remember in the early 2010s when social media didn't take over everything. I really wish that things were more like that nowadays because everything was so simple. In fact there are days where I wish I was born a decade or two earlier. It breaks my heart to see little kids always on their phone. The harm social media does to your mental health wasn't well known when I was 12-13ish, but it's practically common knowledge nowadays, and I don't see why parents continue to let children use social media.
I don't have any SM on my phone except for TH-cam and I'm gonna switch to a flip phone for my next phone. In fact, if it's still around when I'm a parent, I'm not gonna let my children use it or even have smart phones. I'm gonna CONSIDER getting them a flip phone when they turn 16.

This social experiment was already well on its way by 2004-2007. I saw and remember it fondly as a simpler time with simpler fashion, less narcissism generally, freedom of opinions regardless of hurting feelings and other assorted reasons. When MySpace was released that was sort of a peek into the future because it all added to this passive aggressive malaise that was relatively new to the scene: people sending invisible signals to their friends and other loved ones that you aren’t “eligible” to be in my elite “Top 8”. And people would switch the squares around and move Joey from 2 to 6 so Joey got the message. Today it’s done more subtly but it’s absolutely had a corrosive effect on society. Yea, business is booming and people are making tons of money but it’s disconnected us from reality in an alarming fashion. And most people don’t even see the repercussions but deal everyday with their consequences.

It's sad how as soon as I got access to the internet my life changed really quick, I used to laugh, be happy and spend time with my family. Back when I was 12 I always thought the internet was a very fun place but its not, instead it got me hooked up and addicted, I always imagine myself being someone I'm not and it's really sad how I can't control it anymore. I usually imagine myself being happy, handsome, rich, loved and famous, I'm 15 about to turn 16 and I want this fake reality to end. And this might seem like a joke but it's not, I've been looking at my screen everyday ever since there was lockdown, never took a break and I'm tired from the inside and out, I don't even look like I used to back when schools were opened, I look more tired and more pale, I haven't spent over 3 hours outside taking a break for over 11 months and that's just the truth 😞. Time seems to be moving fast and it seems like there's just nothing I can do, I'm always in my bed doing the same thing I do everyday, constantly killing my emotions and hormones by comparing myself to other people while I'm slowly dying and wasting my life over something I always tell myself it's entertainment. Only 31 days till I turn 16 and I can't help myself but to cry because I literally have no experience having fun at the age I'm currently at. I'm truly disgusted by my actions and I really need help because I'm sick and throwing my life away, I do not want to realize I'm too late and feel guilt and shame and there's nothing more painful than regret. I just want to be happy and that all I ever wanted

Aww, so sorry to hear that, but take heart, the good thing is you realize it now and not later on in life. You are not too far gone. Delete your accounts and Try to find some hobbies that interest you. You could try photography, drawing, discovering good music, and learn to dance.
Try to go outside more and get some fresh air. You have your whole life ahead of you to make better decisions. Hang in there and never give up no matter how hard things may get. You got this!

This sounds cheesy but I’m around your age and am in a very similar situation to you. Writing this seems pointless because probably no one will see it but I’ll write anyway. I myself am barely limping along in life but if there is one goddamn thing I’ve realised it’s that lying to yourself about your problems doesn’t work.
The truth is a powerful thing.

I know there’s good that came out of social media (organ transplants, reuniting families, bringing attention to missing persons, etc.), but the cons FAR outweigh the pros. I don’t JUST follow people I believe on social media, but I try to tap into all kinds of different thoughts, including those I disagree with. It’s helped me be able to grow and learn. My MAIN reason for using it is to access fanart and interact with my favorite fandoms, which can be toxic themselves. Keeping your circle small helps immensely, as well as realizing everyone is an individual who is different, but equal to yourself, and that their opinions, though may be different than your’s, are (usually) just as valid.
