A.k.a. back when Ruby was still a likable MC and not an annoying brat who looks down on her allies because they slightly disagree with her. I went from calling her best girl to saying: “fucking remove her from the show, the real main characters are Ren, Jaune and Oscar”
Damien Loxely Mercury and Emerald are cowards, that's why they work for Cinder. They're terrified of Salem, and don't actually want any part of the action fighting for them. Sure, they might be bad guys now, but they might turn good later on.
It's written as irredeemable and I do not wholly think that they actually are. They've done terrible things, but you can see that they do NOT like Salem or anyone else part of her group save Cinder and while I think that they will not join the good guys, I will at least hope they simply leave her when things start to go bad for Cinder.
Mercury probably ran away because he was afraid Qrow might recognise and attack him. Then when Ozpin questioned him, Qrow would blow Murcury, Emerald and Cinder's cover.
They're missing Monty's creativity, amazing technique with making fight scenes, and passion for prioritizing story telling and character growth over unnecessary fan service. R.I.P. to the GOAT.
a lot of the fights are missing depth. there’s a lot of times when characters will do certain things, but it has no impact at all. let’s take for example RWBY fighting ACE Ops. there’s a scene where yang uses her gauntlets to boost her speed, but she didn’t actually move in speed at all. most of the weapons don’t even have actual transformations now either. it’s just a blur effect and a new weapon
I think he was holding back here since other than Winter being angry there was no real threat here while Tyrian is crazy and was ready to kill everyone there
Qrow had been drinking and he had been holding back, the cancelled scythe transformation was him taking off the kid gloves. Even in the Tyrian fight Qrow was beating Tyrian, even though his weapon was unsuitable for the situation. If he hadn't been distracted by RNJR he'd probably had killed Tyrian
We've seen reptile Faunus like Ilyia, and a few background characters in Menagerie, but it was never actually said that there couldn't be insect (or arachnid) Faunus
Best part is, Qrow wasn't even trying. He was DRUNK and she still couldn't get an edge on him, whether by actual fighting ability, using dust, or those runes she and her sister seem to like so much.
other thing that should be noted is that his semblance is misfortune. actually, the fact that ironwood came so conveniently might just be the earliest moment of his semblance in action.
Nah, I think Winter wasn't giving her all either. I mean, she was pissed, but given her semblance, which I take is very similar to Weiss', she was not going full summoning turbo there. Besides, Qrow's semblance is missfortune, so, she just had bad luck. Also, if you see the complete fight with Tyrion, a similar sequence of events took place. Up until Ruby interfered with the fight, Qrow's semblance was acting in his favour, but then, him worrying about protecting Ruby got him stung.
Watching this again after volume 8.. I just love how they’re at each other’s throat but then she actually smiles when she sees him after everything goes to hell

Funimation is easily 90% of the mainstream anime and as long as Sabat is still in charge and he has his favorites like Monica Rial (two ppl who will inevitably be in EVERY anime as a result), Vic will never voice in anime again.
Not saying that the animation style for Vol 4 or 5 is bad, in fact they really are a lot better, but I just miss seeing the old animation style from the previous RWBY volumes..
Well, Monty passed away, and considering his work on both RvB and RWBY, he was _very_ good at his job as lead animator. Both RWBY and RvB will never be the same without him.
Your Average Adam Taurus. Not really?? Personally, after monty passed there WAS a dip in animation quality. But if you compare Ruby’s fight with Roman in Vol.4 with RNJR and Qrow vs Tyrion (spelling?) in Vol.5, it seems kinda... slow in comparison. Anyway, personal opinion and all that.
Your Average Adam Taurus Yeah you're right. It will never really be the same without Monty. I felt that his animation style, especially for the fights, are what really characterized these shows, if not at least characterized into a certain aspect that made RvB and RWBY unique. Again, not saying that Monty's animations are better than what it is now, and I don't mind the new direction that they're going for animating RWBY, but y'know, can't help but miss how it was back then.
From what I've learned about Mounty, he seems to be obsessed with animation/fighting, so much so that he would stay up extra hours studying and animating those characters, he was amazingly passionate with his job. I won't say the new fight scenes done by the group is bad but.. the skill level shows between Mounty and the others. He makes me want to become the best.
I remember showing my friend this show and saying season 3 is where it takes a turn and starts to get "dark". Then at 3:11 when Qrow breaks the light pole I said "see told you it gets darker" the look of sheer disappointment and realization of the joke on my friends face is something I'll never forget.
*Raven and Qrow might have been working together temporarily, and the when Qrow wanted to mess around with Winter, at **0:47**, Raven decided, I ain't got time for this, and flew away to continue her mission. At least that Is what I think.*
I love the camera work. Every shot holds for long enough to get its point across, without being so short as to jar the viewer and give both fake energy and confuse the eye. Each cut happens with an action, not between them, and also contains at least one movement in its entirety to ensure you follow the fight.

rubdy: gee uncle qrow, how come your scythe gets 3 modes?
haha lol
Maybe she will make a modification that makes it into a sword
Well in the red trailer of rooster teeth..at the part when ruby switched amo the blade of her scythe moved. Which made it look like a lance
rubdy* nice spelling bro/gal
qrow: dunno but I know for sure *it's also a gun*
Qrow: Puts away his sword that’s turning into a scythe.
The Crowd and FNDM: groans in disappointment
"If you where one of my men I'd have you shot!"
"If I was one of your men I'd shoot myself"
XD
Trister Nightwatcher damn it feels good to be a gangsta
Best line he had in the series :D
Savage as fuck
Qrow ended him
"He was drunk!"
"He's always drunk."
Qrow: *drinks more*
Ozpin face
“He was drunk”
“He’s always drunk”
Still to this day one of the best lines from the show.
Qrow is the drunken master. The more drunk he is, the more badass.
BEST! SCENE! EVER!
Flawed logic. You have no control in your experiment.
Alex Chhay true
He's like Bacus in Fairy Tail lol
You've seen red wine drunk randy, now get ready for
Red wine drunk Qrow
It's a wonder his liver isn't dead yet
I'm drunk, whats your excuse!
I'm a stuck up military by-the-book brat, lol.
Remember when Ruby looked up to her uncle and still respected him without hurting his feelings? Yea, I do
I shouldn't be advocating alcoholism, but drunkle Qrow was more fun than sad sober Qrow.
@@Cornel101 It must’ve been something in the booze.
A.k.a. back when Ruby was still a likable MC and not an annoying brat who looks down on her allies because they slightly disagree with her. I went from calling her best girl to saying: “fucking remove her from the show, the real main characters are Ren, Jaune and Oscar”
@@federicomalcotti9060 I hate how Jaune got all the important scenes. In 7 and 8.
@@spritemon98 Jaune got important scenes in volume 7?! You might be as drunk as Qrow
I like how Qrow's getting hit and he just smiles
I know right?
He likes being smacked I guess. Winter's speciality
Ruby and Mercury's reactions give me life.
Ruby: HELL YEAH!
Mercury: Oh fuck THIS!
Damien Loxely Mercury and Emerald are cowards, that's why they work for Cinder. They're terrified of Salem, and don't actually want any part of the action fighting for them. Sure, they might be bad guys now, but they might turn good later on.
For some reason i don't see that coming. They are pretty much unredeemable at his point.
It's written as irredeemable and I do not wholly think that they actually are. They've done terrible things, but you can see that they do NOT like Salem or anyone else part of her group save Cinder and while I think that they will not join the good guys, I will at least hope they simply leave her when things start to go bad for Cinder.
Damien Loxely Remember Qrow was there when they attacked Amber
Mercury probably ran away because he was afraid Qrow might recognise and attack him. Then when Ozpin questioned him, Qrow would blow Murcury, Emerald and Cinder's cover.
Watching this, I realize how much I miss what RWBY was. I don't hate the new seasons, but they feel like they are lacking something compare to this
They are missing Passion.
@@azuko2372 Oh they have passion, they just don't know how to make it work
@@renaakatsuki9960 Lol early RWBY was nothing BUT fan service.
Looking back at this fight after the Qrow VS Tyrian fight, either Qrow was sober when he fought Tyrian, or he was holding back on Winter
That's probably true
Coder Drelock Probably because she's the youngest character in the show before Oscar shows up, being 2 years younger than the rest of her team
Best part is, Qrow wasn't even trying. He was DRUNK and she still couldn't get an edge on him, whether by actual fighting ability, using dust, or those runes she and her sister seem to like so much.
He's ALWAYS drunk.
other thing that should be noted is that his semblance is misfortune. actually, the fact that ironwood came so conveniently might just be the earliest moment of his semblance in action.
Well, she just had bad luck
Gaby000999 exactly.
" Now, Now everyone... there's a sanction fight happening just around the corner at the Colosseum that I can assure you, has better seats and popcorn. "
that sort of thing is why i love Ozpin
The fact that he emphasized popcorn makes me think he loves it as much as his coffee.
It's not actually coffee, it's been confirmed to be hot cocoa
All the more reason to think he's awesome

It's a shame that they never really explored why Qrow and Winter were so salty here
Looking back on this, I liked how Winter was trying to shove Weiss away when Qrow mentioned Ozpin
Qrows weapon are like 3 in 1
A Gun
A scythe and
A sword
To be specific
A double barelled shotgun
A scythe
A greatsword
@@josephwilliams8577 and Winter has a Sword with a detachable sword. I think Miles and Kerry even said it was one of their favourite weapons... the sword-sword
Add to that the abilities to turn into a war-scythe and a tonfa that we see later
@@josephwilliams8577 It's also apparently a bladed tonfa
Ironwood: gun-gun
If Qrow could keep up with winter easily while drunk, imagine if he was sober?
Imagine him when he is normal
He'd probably do worse because he doesn't know how to use sobriety
I honestly think Ozpin must be more drunk than Qrow if he forgot that the matches of the tournament were concluded for the day. Thus, there shouldn't be a sanctioned fight.
MasterPoppers he had to come up with something to despress the coward
MasterPoppers He said “right around the corner” as in soon.
I mean Huntsmen cam have sanctioned fights outside of the tournament
is no one gonna talk about how cute Ruby’s little ‘hi’ to Qrow was adorable as heck
It was yes.
Its so adorable
It reminded me of my own niece
Damn, was I squealing with joy when I heard Vic’s voice. He NAILED what Qrow should sound like. This fight was the most ANIME-esque I’d ever witness and I miss feeling this excited when watching RWBY 😢😭😭

Sorry for the super late reply. But Winter toyed around with Qrow too in the middle of the fight.
Lowkey, I love how all of Qrow's shit talking here ended up being 100% correct.
Just the conversation Weiss and ruby had during the fight was enough to make this episode one of my favorites along with "he was drunk" he's always drunk"
Vincent Torrijos Not to mention the, "If I was one of your men, I'd shoot myself"😂
"He was Drunk!"
"He's always Drunk!" - Best defence ever.
"He started the altercation!" "That's actually not true..."
Qrow you tore apart a bunch of machines before she knew you were there. Buddy, that's starting the fight.
But when he said "She attacked first" he's technically not lying? So, neither of them are lying.... Poor Ironwood, have fun sorting this one out!
No he wanted to clean out sentiend garbage winter attacked a human first
LMAO, try destroying military technology, then charging the MPs who arrest you with assault.
Actually she didn't attack him because he broke one of the machines she attacked because in Winter's eyes Qrow was disrespecting Atlas you could say that Qrow was "instigating" but he didn't actually start the fight Winter attacked first

God, I miss Vic. He was perfect for this role, and this first real scene of his is a testament to how great he was as the lovable old Qrow.
Until people lied to get him fired for no reason whatsoever 😒
@@Panther-Strife4724what became of that case anyway?
@ArbiterofTruth
I'm pretty sure he won, and there has been attacks on the people who lied about him.
but because his name got dragged through the mud, he'll unfortunately never have a roll in much anything again. Funimation is easily 90% of the mainstream anime and as long as Sabat is still in charge and he has his favorites like Monica Rial (two ppl who will inevitably be in EVERY anime as a result), Vic will never voice in anime again.
@redfinale
Not unless they have an unfortunate accident.
I love how Qrow takes a love tap and amplify it to levels that Yang could only dream of.
Pretty sure he's just really strong. And that sword is really heavy, considering what it's hiding...

Can you guys imagine what RWBY would've been if Qrow had an _eating_ problem instead of a drinking problem?
That’s a weirdly specific thing to ask
@@Linosek279 Ayo I mean it's a fetish

They switched from using Poser to Maya
Honestly I would have done a public execution by that joke...
Okay can't lie I actually laughed lmao
I miss the old animations so much
A lot more expressive and the fights were so much better
I miss these quick, teleporting like fight scenes.
And this was the peak of RWBY
Even drunk qrow can still kick ass
hes always drunk ;p
*Raven and Qrow might have been working together temporarily, and the when Qrow wanted to mess around with Winter, at **0:47**, Raven decided, I ain't got time for this, and flew away to continue her mission. At least that Is what I think.*
She was looking for the popcorn. A show she couldn’t afford to miss.
The style of this scene is so much better than 99% of the show
Qrow's introduction was actually amazing. "If I was one of your men, I'd shoot myself" 🤣
he was drunk he's always drunk funniest line ever
This is like a Tom And Jerry Scenario where it's on sight for no reason.
Is it just me, or is there some mutual, something, between Qrow and Winter? This scene basically made me ship them.
Yeah same its kinda weird
Elise Leon I like the way how you think
Alex Braunberger Thiose two maybe some kind history
Alex Braunberger Glad someone else is shipping it too, there's just.... *Something between them* I just can't put them into words 😉
Elise Leon Both hostile AND sexual tension
I miss the Black cutout people...
At least we get to see interesting character designs of nameless people in the background. Quite an improvement actually.
We just unlocked the rest of the roster is all. It happens.
I love the camera work. Every shot holds for long enough to get its point across, without being so short as to jar the viewer and give both fake energy and confuse the eye. Each cut happens with an action, not between them, and also contains at least one movement in its entirety to ensure you follow the fight.
Back when Qrow was actually worth his hype and sounded exactly like a grizzled veteran of his trade, not a moody teenager whining over his first man-crush.
No grief for Jason, but Vic MADE Qrow for me.
Watching this again really makes you appreciate how good CRWBY's art has become.

God old Qrow is fucking sick
Even to this day this fight and Vic's performance is gold
