Hi, ok, Melissa, the landscape map idea is really great. My kids LOVE maps. LOVE. They draw maps of everything. Such a fun idea to tie it into Tu B'Shvat! THANK YOU for the amazing idea, and all these ideas are really well-rounded and creative!!
Oh good! Bunny came in this morning and had colored the map using the materials I had left out for her, then had made her own map on the back, including a tree, grass, "the tree's roots", the sun, the road, and all the neighbors' houses (and the houses were all little squares, like on an architectural plan). Literally she had maybe a talk through but NO supervision from me, and she totally ran with it. I hope your kids have a blast with it! Happy Tu Bishvat!
What an AMAZING presentation and variety of ideas, not only in the content but also in the media of art, song, books, architecture, and landscaping. The brisk pace was perfect, set by the deadline you had to meet, and you used it to such good advantage. I cherish the little challenges you included, ideas to encourage both adults and children to look further into tree grafting (Wow! Who knew?), bulb forcing, and color planting. There was even a sweet moment of nostalgia for me, as I was in high school during the folk music era of the 1960s and have such fond memories of "Lemon Tree" by Peter, Paul, and Mary. Melissa, this video is one of your very best. It shows how well you adapt to changes of pace and perspective and use them to keep your overall programming fresh and engaging. Close-ups or panorama, both well done. Brava!
Oh Vivian! Thank you for watching and for this amazing feedback! I went to see Peter Paul and Mary perform when I was a teenager. I was raised on their music, as was my husband. Lemon Tree is such a great song! I'm so happy that you enjoyed the topics I presented on. Holidays present an interesting challenge to either revisit the same rituals, year after year, or we can look with fresh eyes at these topics and take it as a chance to learn something new. I'm glad Grafting caught your imagination as well! There is so much to learn about trees and nature, which is why Tu Bishvat is one of my favorites.
@@LittleKosherLunch Another song which comes to mind whenever I think about trees is "The Green Cathedral" by Gordon Johnstone (lyrics) and Carl Hahn (music). It's considered a "secular chorus" and its reference to a green cathedral of arching trees is more closely attuned to the majesty of nature than to a specific faith. I first learned this song in junior high music class, and our 7th grade chorus sang it at a PTA meeting one rainy night. The windows of the auditorium were open and the sound of the rainfall added so much to the beautiful melody. There are videos of this song here on TH-cam.
You have so many fantastic ideas how can I choose just one. It is so snowy here and cold and all I want to do is start seeds so I love your recycled seed-starting containers although it is a bit early to start anything here that we're not intending upon keeping inside but inside lettuce sounds amazing right now. I also really love the architectural map collage idea and forcing bulbs, who doesn't love having bulbs
Ooh! Lettuce does sound amazing! I have some adorable speckled varieties that self sowed in the front yard and are even coming up in the lawn. They are adorable. Some sprouts or lettuces inside definitely seem doable. I'm SO happy you liked this video! Thank you for the nice feedback, and sending you warm wishes for a productive spring in your garden, when the time comes. Hope you had a great Tu Bishvat today!
I had totally forgotten about that song until you mentioned it! You just took me back to my tu bishvat's as a kid! LOVED that song! Thank you, Jennifer!
Missing all your videos ❤ Now that I have 3 preschoolers❤❤❤
The fairy garden is still my favorite 😊
I'm so glad! Hope you had a wonderful day today!
Love the bulbs and felt . All very good idea's.
Thank you so much, Tanzy! My kids definitely love these two.
