1 big thing to note, that Heirloom carries Harkness roses from England that no one else carries. But I am with you, that I look for what I want other places and Heirloom last, I just want too many roses to spend double on 1 rose.

Most of our roses are from Heirloom Roses so it was interesting to see the comparison. Thank you.

I was so excited to see your spreadsheet. You totally validated my crazy spreadsheet. I need to go back over your columns because I think I could add one or two more😉. Thank you!

My favorite time to update the spreadsheet is over winter when it is could and I am under a warm blanket. The most helpful columns are graft, vendor, age. In addition, a column for "also known as" has saved me from buying the same rose twice!

I'm so thankful for your videos! I just received three new roses, and having binged your channel, I knew you had a video that addressed all of the things I'm concerned about this late in the season.

      @@TheRoseGeek Hello Kimberly,
I called Matt and left a message on his answering machine. He called me back and I missed his call but he left a message congratulating me and told me to pick out a rose. I called him back and told him I had one picked out but haven't heard back from him. I sent a message through his website and told him I have chosen "Pretty in Pink Eden" climbing rose. I also saw where it is out of stock but I'm willing to wait until it is ready to ship. His website said if I didn't hear back from them in a few days to call. I will try that if I don't get any response.
      Thanks again!!!

You are my new go to for learning all I can about roses. I've learned heaps of wonderful info from you! And I am making northland my new go to. Was looking for a climbing rose for a pet memorial garden. Thank you so much for all you share. I'm also checking into fish fertilizer. Never used, but I trust your experience. Your the best!

Thanks for a detailed video. I live in Maryland too. My garage doesn’t have windows and I have a potted baby rose plant. I am worried that it might not survive the winter indoors. I would really appreciate it if you can make a video about keeping the rose plants indoors during winter.

Great video. One of my roses that I just received from Reverence for Roses looks just like yours. Really tall and very healthy looking. My second rose from RFR looks similar in size to Northland roses.

Hi Kim, nice info. Can you include shipping & handling in your comparisons? It makes a difference in the final costing. Some of them might cost cheaper at the beginning but when you factor in their s& h it becomes very costly. Btw, congratulations for your inclusion as a rose influencer by one of the rose you tubers. I was so very proud of you👏

Very informative video. I will say if there is a rose that you might want that you see on Heirloom I would try to check these and other vendors first before purchasing. Their prices are alot higher. I recently got a band size Jude the Obscure for $19 and it was a really large band size. Its so worth the price. I pretty much purchase from Heirloom when I want a rose I can't get elsewhere and really want it.

    • @annebeck2208

      Where did you get Jude?

Same situation for me. I bought one from heirloom although I wanted two but they sold out. So I bought another one that was a band size and when they came I was shocked to see the band size was the same size as the heirloom rose pitted rose and much cheaper. They both did equally well in my garden this year. From now on I’ll look at cheaper sources before purchasing from heirloom although their customer service has been great.

I just received 2 potted roses fro Chamblee. One has very tender canes a scant new red growth, no established leaves. I am thinking after watching your video that it will be better to keep in a pot over the winter. I have a sunroom and a garage. The sunroom has baseboard heaters and I keep many house plants in the sunroom over the winter. Would it be better to keep the new rose in the sunroom or garage?
    Thanks.

Thank you for a very informative video! I have been questioning about this for a while since I have quite many own roots coming. I am in zone 8a and have limit ground space. I plan to put my rose in a large pot. Would the same rule apply in term of the size of the rose ( pencil cane size minimum to put in ground)

What happens is.. if the pot is big .. then the rose concentrates on making roots & less top foliage & flowers..if it’s a small pot.. then less efforts on roots & more efforts on leaves & flowers are made .. so us thinking i’ll dedicate a big pot to it .. that’s wrong

    • @TheRoseGeek

Something that made me very upset with Heirloom was that when I ordered a few roses back in late Spring, I requested a specific shipping week, which would align with when we were having a garden bed made specifically for my roses. I even emailed them and requested we move the date back a couple of weeks and they said not a problem and suggested a different week which would be better suited for my zone. Well, a few weeks later, I got a shipping notification a full month before I was expecting them. I emailed again and they said they were shipping early because of the extreme temperatures. Not even a week later, I got an email saying their database had been compromised in a cyber attack. All of that, plus your own review of their pricing and quality have just really turned me off of them. It’s a shame because they have a beautiful selection and seem to advertise more than others, but I’m not happy with my experience.

    • @MoniqueARuiz
      @MoniqueARuiz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@TheRoseGeek I hate to give a negative review, especially when things started off well with them, but communication is key! The customer shouldn’t have to chase the supplier down for answers. On a positive though, I have already had a bloom on one of the roses, so despite the shipping issue, I am happy with my purchases.
