Fun fact: During the episode when all the gems fuse to go to dinner with Connie’s parents and they end up falling apart, you can see Ruby and Sapphire’s silhouettes where Garnet’s should be.
That really proves that EVERYONE was not getting along. I wish they kinda explored how those two were feeling a bit more

The best thing about the cool kids is that they’re actually cool. It’s not like in every other show where the cool kids are just jerks, like, these kids are interesting, empathetic, have hobbies and talents, and are just fun to be around. The cool kids are the best, and they’re around a lot through the series.
Notice how the crystal gems have old time weapons, like medieval stuff while the homeworld gems have more advanced technology

@@just_pluto_ To be fair, Jasper is an older style gem created ages ago, so she would be more like the Crystal Gems.
I think its just that Gems by default have normal weapons then homeworld just enhances them with modern tech
@@hermie0600 older gems like Jasper and the crystal gems were made with more resources, while gems like Peridot were made with less resources. Peridot has no weapons or shapeshifting abilities because she was made in the later age.
All the gems are actual stones/minerals/crystals. My favorite part watching SU as a kid was looking up all the different kinds and then drawing gems that hadn't been mentioned yet. I got Aquamarine SO wrong lol.

@@nobodynowhere8061 The aquamarine I drew was tall and had visors, her weapon was a hand-sythe. The only thing I got right was that they have a higher rank than quarts gems lmao. Mine was a Crystal Gem tho, not Homeworld affiliated.
Yeah I remember drawing what I thought Aquamarine looked like based on a teaser image and every time I look at it I die a little bit on the inside.
The show was hinting at Garnet being a fusion from almost the beginning. She has gems on both hands, and when Jasper poofed her, she turned into two gems.
Also fusions tend to have extra eyes/limbs.

I’ve been waiting to comment this: This is what makes Steven Universe a goated show, the representation and deep characters. Garnet’s character gained so much depth after Jailbreak. Not only is she black and voiced by a black women, she’s also a rep for the LGBTQ community. This show rep’d everyone and didn’t care what others said about it
Also, their songs always hit, no matter who you are
Hell yeah! Heck, there were multiple points that the show almost got cut down or cancelled by the network because Rebecca Sugar insisted on showing a certain gem’s wedding. It’s the reason why season 5 feels so rushed at the end. But Rebecca kept pushing and I respect the hell out of her for that. It feels great to see that level of representation, and for it to feel normal. A lot of people over-glorify it, but it should just feel like a normal part of life. And Steven Universe does an excellent job of that.

@@TsubasaOfTheSword The reason season 5 was rushed was because the Crew didn't properly pace the show. They kept making filler episodes in between important plot episodes even in the final season and after hiatuses when we wanted the story.
@@yashjoseph3544 While that is true, it is also true that the studio forced them to produce many of those filler episodes rather than letting Rebecca go all the way with her vision. She actually wrote about many of these struggles in a book she published after Future finished airing. As well as in an interview.
About the season 2, you already started it, Jailbreak is the finale of season 1. In the last video you actually skip 2 episodes that were supposed to come before The Message,you skip episodes 47, "Shirt club", and 48, "Story for Steven", the episode 46 too, but you just watch it, it's "Open book". Season two started in the episode "Full disclosure" where Steven tries too avoid Connie. Great videos, hope this help with the episodes

This show does a phenomenal job showing us things and it feeling completely different later on. Garnet being a fusion wasn’t explicitly shown but the show didn’t really hide it either. Ruby and Sapphire are a treat too. One of my all time favorite couples. Now that I think about it Garnet is similar to Steven in that regard in that they are both the result of love. There are traits Steven shares with Amethyst and Pearl too.
honestly when i first saw that garnet had TWO gems i immediately realized that she was a fusion and again Krysta even tho gems look's like a male EVERY gem is a female

Garnet’s song is probably still my favorite in Steven Universe. Not to mention the fight and the proper reveal of Garnet being a fusion. It explains why she took it so personally whenever she fused with Pearl and Amethyst.
What I love is that the show dropped little hints from the beginning that Garnet was a fusion.
Things like...the Temple's "room star" has FIVE gems on it, NOT four.😃

I remember all the theory channels that first started because of this show ( like Theroundtable) and how during the extremely long hiatuses the show had watching all of the individua theories and hyping myself up even more for the show to come back.

A garnet is a mix of gemstones in real life
Buck, Kiki, and Sour Cream are actually intentional parallels to Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl. Buck wears a pair of glasses like Garnet’s visor, Kiki carries this same confidence and “I don’t care what you think” mindset like Amethyst, and Pearl and Sour Cream are both pretty slender with lighter color hair.

@@littlesparrow303 yeah , Future was terrible . I loved the idea of future (or rather what it was about) , but they didn’t execute that idea very well and or ruined everything. Ep 4 of future was the best one in my opinion.

Honestly, the show had questionable writing even before Future. Too many filler episodes, the ending was especially rushed since we got 3 new fusions for brief moments and the Diamonds are easily redeemed despite causing galactic genocide. And of course Rose’s whole character.
I just find the franchise now simply OK, given how it’s mostly made by storyboard artists instead of actual scriptwriters.

I definitely think the whole "starts out slow and ramps up," thing for season 1 is much more applicable to a rewatch. Its definitely still true on a first watch. But the episodes are solid enough to not feel slow the first time around.
I think you're missing a few like Open Book, Shirt Club, Say Uncle, and Story for Steven.

* Every streaming service is weird about the order of episodes. Jailbreak is "properly" the end of season 1, it has a climax and ends on a cliffhanger.
* I kinda missed the whole thing the first time through with Connie, that when Steven wants to protect her, her response is just, stop, that's ridiculous. She wants to be a team with Steven, and wants Steven to act like it too. In retrospect, it makes a lot of sense, and I like it, a lot.
* I always get the sense that the gems DON'T blame Steven for his mom not being around. I get the sense that they blame GREG. Of course, Steven has a lot going on either way...
I hope she goes back to watch the "Story for Steven" episode
Also i feel the same, i love the slow burn intro in the 1st season, the later seasons definitely fill the quota for lore, but the character introduction and fun human episodes i feel remind me of my childhood watching older cartoon network shows from Codename Kids next door to courage the cowardly dog

western anmated shows from cartoon network and disney channel usually always starts off slow then show more of the plot slowly when it get close to the end of the season. you can see it in gravity falls, the owl house, star vs the forces of evil and majority of disney shows while cartoon network is has some of those but a lot of them have very unique pacing

Also, some others have said this too, but Jailbreak is the last episode for season 1. I think where you’re watching is a bit out of order, Open Book came before Political Power. Full Disclosure and Joy Ride are from season 2, but I do think Joy Ride works too as an end for this batch. I hope the rest of the series will be in order wherever you’re watching, though! I’m just gonna say this, when it comes emotions and reaching out to others, really pay attention to those moments when Steven is involved.

Despite remembering everyone of these episodes I remember them all in different orders and thought full disclosure was in season 2 but I haven’t watched season one in full since like 8th grade
This is the original airing order. Cartoon Network moved stuff around to do a "Steven Bomb," an episode every day for four days followed by the two part finale. Production order had most of the early season 2 stuff in season 1, before the finale, and Full Disclosure in season 2. This is why Garnet has her Season 1 outfit in Say Uncle, fun fact.

something to note is that although hbo max has that weird jumbled idea of what season 1 was it actually ended with jailbreak as the finale, if that provides any more clarity

it was in this finale that I failed in love with this series. When I saw that garnet was the fusion between two females that were a couple, I just knew right there. from here it only gets better and crazier, hold on tight!
