The irony is that for someone who fled from the Nazis, he took lessons from their inhumanity

The Nazis envied and copied from Anglo-Saxon (British and US) genocidal imperialism. Google "The Filipino Genocide", a genocide for the very same racist, supremacist reasons as the Nazis but 40 years earlier. The first accounts of death camps.

My mom tells me since I was a kid "the world would be a completly different place if the US never existed". I know its drastic, she was hunted and terrorized as a young adolescent in the last Argentinian coup planned by Kissinger. This stigma is really visible and part of a political divide to this day in Argentina (from wich the US takes advantage).

@@scottgauer7299 The soviet Union won World War II and freed everyone in the camps, not the US. And you say it's only an about Jews, when Jews only made up about half the victims of the Holocaust. The other half don't matter, to you?

And Americans at the time knew that the soviet union won world war II. In every survey and study from right after the war, Americans all agreed that it was the soviet Union that had contributed the most to winning the war.

But you've been confused by Hollywood. You actually believe Hollywood movies are real life, which is just deranged. Every decade, more and more Hollywood movies came out that portrayed the US as being the big heroes of world war II.

And so the same surveys and studies were repeated every year, asking Americans who they thought contributed the most to winning world war II. In the 40s and 50s they all said the soviet Union, but as time went on, every decade, fewer and fewer people replied the soviet union, and more and more said the US instead. Gradually turning from one answer to the other. Until today, when the vast majority of Americans say they think the US did the most to win World War II for the allied powers.

But the vast majority of of Americans now weren't even alive during World War II, and their only frame of reference (except for if they're history majors) is Hollywood and the hundreds of films that have been made about world war II. So they think Hollywood movies are real life, no matter what the historians tell them. They don't ever read books about history, so how would they know? They don't know. But historians do.

You should watch this award winning short documentary about the losses of each country during World War II. It's staggering. When the statistics are put on a bar chart, it's the equivalent of looking at a single man standing next to a skyscraper, with the soviet union being the skyscraper, and countries like the UK and US and France being the man. The soviet union lost so many soldiers and civilians in the process of winning the war, that it's unfathomable. It's impossible to really grasp the true size of it. But the bar graph does a good job of making you realise how awful it all was. Give it a watch, it's award winning for a reason: vimeo.com/channels/771070/128373915

This is not to say that the soviet union was some great country. They were arguably even worse than nazi Germany. They killed more people than were killed in the holocaust, certainly.

But it's not even debatable, they won World War II. Not the US.

Go read a book. A history book. Read about the battle of Stalingrad. It was the turning point in the war. It's the beginning of the victory of the allied powers. Were it not for that, then the nazis may not have even lost in the long run. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Stalingrad

Americans at the time understood and agreed that the soviet union won the war, but their children didn't, because their kids only understood the war through the lens of Hollywood, and they think that Hollywood movies are real life. They're not.

There's tons of fantastic books written about the soviet union's importance in winning the war, and about the battle of Stalingrad in particular. So you have no excuse for not reading at least one of them and learning something about history.

Stalingrad by Antony Beevor is a good place to start. Most people agree it's the best book about it, especially for laypeople. It's easy to read. And then there's the series of books about the battle by David M. Glantz that's called a trilogy but contains 5 books, a bit like the Hitchiker's Guide books.

@@duffman18 The Soviet union did indeed break the Wehrmacht, but the US also did a great deal to defeat the nazis (including by supporting the Soviets) and especially the japanese. Two morally important factors you failed to mention: the US was not directly attacked by the nazis and the Soviet union had a secret pact with Germany before Hitler betrayed Stalin.
I think it's fair to say that America was the "hero country" of WWII, the Soviet people were the principal victims, and the Soviet soldiers were the military heroes.
Btw, I recommend the books of Anne Applebaum about the Gulag system and iron curtain.

About Kissinger's lucrative post-White House role as a "consultant", we should mention the fact he advised Larry Silverstein to take an unheard-of double insurance policy on the WTC *in the Summer of 2001* .
Among the beneficiaries listed on the policy? Henry Kissinger.

I'm not a person who likes to say things. In this case, they were finding all kind of people as war criminals taking them to Israel to punish them.
They killed many leaders that didn't go US and Israel's way they call them terrorists and killed them. Here we have such a criminal celebrates his 100th birthday and yet 100's of thousands of people didn't see their families, where their children grew up without mother or father. These kind of people get noble prize.

@LatentCC America Is Not a Democracy. Myth: The Founding generation created a democracy
From a technical standpoint, America is not a democracy and was never intended to be a democracy. The United States is a republic, and a great number in the Founding generation, if not the majority, classified themselves as republicans (not to be confused with the modern Republican Party). Most of the Founding Fathers considered democracy a dangerous extreme to be avoided. Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts said at the Constitutional Convention that “the evils we experience flow from the excess of democracy. The people do not want virtue, but are the dupes of pretended patriots. ”George Mason guarded against being both “too democratic” and running “incautiously” to the “other extreme” (monarchy). Mason equated the United States House of Representatives with the British House of Commons, and suggested, as did James Madison, that the other branches of government should have some check on rampant democracy. In the words of Madison, “Where a majority are united by a common sentiment and have an opportunity, the rights of the minor party become insecure”-in other words, the Founders wanted checks against the tyranny of the majority. That was why the Founders wanted a republic of separated powers. While the government was to “be derived from the great body of society, not from an inconsiderable portion or a favored class of it,” the Constitution included a system of indirect appointments, including the Supreme Court, the Electoral College System, and, originally, the United States Senate, whose members were appointed by their respective state legislatures.
