@@diydetailofficial I have not used a ceramic coating yet. My car is 20 years old and the paint is severely faded at this point. Never garaged and parked in the heat and sand storms of the Mojave Desert. However, I've used McGuires carnauba wax on the car roughly every 2-4 weeks for the life of the car so far. Never buffed the car and only clay barred the car 2 times. The paint held up very well for the first 18 years despite the weather conditions I subjected it to. At 18 years old, the car looked like it was new. Most people never believed me when I told them I like it sit through sand storms with wind gusts of 30+ MPH. The paint truly looked far better than cars half its age at 18 years old. However, looks are deceiving so some extent. The clear coat was being baked from the sun, blasted by the sand and even gentle washing with good car care products had its effect over time. Nevertheless, I give a lot of credit to the wax for doing an outstanding job for so many years. Unfortunately after the 18th year, wax is doing little to protect the car anymore. The clear coat is definitely gone on the hood, roof and plastic components (bumpers, mirror caps, door handles, etc). Later this year I hope to garage the car, disassemble it, refresh everything under the hood and under carriage and if all of that works out, I'll get the car repainted. At that point I'll make a decision on PPF/ceramic coating and the car will be kept in a garage from that point, forward. I appreciate your reply.
