    Outstanding video, had no idea it was possible.
    Matt/Flat finishes are not only homely, they’re very difficult to maintain. You rub a bug of the hood, now you have a shinny spot!
    If I did have a vehicle with a Matt Finish I would definitely add a Ceramic Coating.

    Just used the 3 year coating on my personal car and the slickness is insane. Im in Florida, my garage was 90 F and high humidity so the coating instantly flashing, due to this I used a lot more than instructed and did smaller areas. I was nervous that I would not have enough to finish my small SUV, saving the glass for last but I did (not much left). Only had 1 super small high spot at the end of the day. I would definitely recommend these coatings!

Do you think 3 with graphene, 5 or 8 is any better choice for matte? And one final question, for coatings purposes should we consider treating matte wraps any different than actual matte paint?

    So the beading up of the coating is the indicator that cross linking is complete?

    • @diydetailofficial
      @diydetailofficial  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Another way of understanding it is that when you see about 50% of the coating you applied to the paint “flash” or disappear ….it’s ready to level with your towel. We might have been a little quick in this video but with matte paint it’s better to err on the side of avoiding the possibility of high spots since you can’t polish matte paint or it turns shiny. Don’t be afraid to level on the early side, but if the paint is grabby that’s a sign you are too early. It should be an effortless wipe off

    • @cheftodd
      @cheftodd หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ivan, I just applied your 3 year graphite coating, I’m in Florida, 90F and high humidity in my garage, that coating flashed almost instantly so I had to use more on each section, do smaller sections and pretty much after doing a 2x2 section, immediately leveling with towel and buffing off. It was not grabby at all and super slick after buffing. I am assuming I did it properly due to the crazy high heat and humidity? My car looks awesome and only had 1 small high spot that i missed

  • @OneTwoThreePunch

    Ive been doing ceramic coatings for a while now but lately I've been having issues with the new Ceramic my shop is using. It's called saphire and it seems no matter what I do, it's abnormally hard to buff/wipe. Ive used Adams Graphene and a few others and it goes on like butter but this stuff will literally take the rag out of my hand because it's so "grabby". Any tips?

    • @diydetailofficial
      @diydetailofficial  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, change coatings to one that’s better formulated.

    • @noahshepard7923
      @noahshepard7923 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @diydetailofficial Unfortunately my boss ordered like 6 bottles, so I'll be stuck with the stuff for a while. I was just curious if there could be something I'm doing wrong. It flashes so fast that I practically immediately start wiping right after I finish coating the panel. If I wait anything over a minute it's ridiculously hard to wipe and I almost always have to break out the buffer to knock it back down. Was also wondering if you have any input on sticking a microfiber rag to a buffer and using that to buff the ceramic? Thanks a bunch!

    • @diydetailofficial
      @diydetailofficial  หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, unfortunately you’re stuck with a poorly formulated product. If you’re taking longer to do the jobs, it’s probably more economically viable to ditch the bad coating and get something that actually works. The time you spend is worth more than the coating he would throw away. Also an important lesson, don’t buy in bulk until you know if a product works for you.

    • @noahshepard7923
      @noahshepard7923 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @diydetailofficial Yea at this point I'm almost tempted to just go buy some Adams Graphene or something similar with my own money as it literally cuts the job time in half so it would basically pay for itself after 1 job. Thanks for the info, love the videos!
