These Friendly Pakistani Locals Just Wanted to Scam Tourists. 🇵🇰🇵🇰

  • Lahore Adventure: Unexpected Kindness & A Tourist Lesson (ft. Ramadan)
This episode is a mix of emotions! While filming in Lahore, Pakistan during Ramadan, I met Zubair, a friendly rickshaw driver who offered his hospitality. I also encountered Khalid, an enthusiastic guide who shared his knowledge of the Badshahi Masjid.
I naively agreed to a higher service charge than expected. This is a good reminder to always discuss pricing beforehand even though they told you it's free of charge (usually it isn't)!
Despite the hiccup, I had a wonderful time exploring Lahore with Zubair and Khalid. This video focuses on the positive aspects of the trip, showcasing the beauty of the Badshahi Masjid and the walled city.
Lesson learned: Always negotiate prices clearly to avoid misunderstandings. 🇵🇰
What do you think? Was Khalid's tour worth the price, based on the video? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Lahore police should take action against these scammers, and contact Aidan for the refund of the extra amount.

Yes Yes!! Pakistanis are definitely one of the kindest people I know. I am sad the embassy took too long to approve my visa, I had to cut my trip from 16 days to 6 days so I didn't make enough video to show how spoilt I am with the loves. Hope one day I'll be able to return, inshallah. Happy Ramzan! 🫡🇵🇰💚

Yes haha. But I didn't ask for the services. The first guy told me I don't need to "worry" about payment, which I totally should have clarified how much, my bad.
The guy from masjid approached me when I didn't ask for his service. I met so many friendly people in India (before I entered Pakistan), plus in Malaysia, we have free guides to show foreigners jn masjid so I totally didn't expect him to be a tour guide giving me a tour service without even getting my consent. Ultimately, its my fault I wasn't familiar with the exchange rate so I wasn't expecting he was actually charging me crazy amount of money.
But it's my lesson I should have asked them what are their charges. 😅😅

At first, the rickshaw guy was very friendly and I did ask him how much is the rickshaw ride from Wagah Border to Lahore. And for the old guy from Badshahi Masjid, I was filming video when he approached me and started to tel me stories without telling me about his price. I thought he worked for the masjid and thats why I was walking with him the entire time. At that point, I came from India and Indian were very very kind to me and even pay for my clinic fee when I was sick so I thought Pakistani is probably as kind as their Indian counterparts.

As you can see from the video, he inserted himself into my video. In Malaysia, usually we have people in the mosques eagerly tell you stories about the mosque for free, which is literally what this man did so I thought it was a norm in every masjid everywhere.
As its pretty much my first interaction with locals, I was confused it was actually a chargeable service so I fell into the trap. It's also my fault for not standing up for myself. 🫠🫤😐

So basically be very careful when taking any service when going wagha border or crossing wagha border , cause these people like majority on the taxi drivers at airports try to overcharge.
Unfortunately its a bad case and the guy trying to be greedy. But tbh at the end it felt like am overstretch to call it scam, atleast from what is shown in the video, offcourse i understand the guy trying to be greedy leaves a bad taste in the mouth, but prices also sbould be cleared before hand definitely, also there might be some lost in translation as well.
Not trying to defend the guy, but when you use such strong words in title and with an intro like that, i think we deserve more evidence otherwise its just hear say!

    • @GoWithAidan
      @GoWithAidan  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yeah from my part I definitely should have made it clear how much it will cost to protect myself.
I did ask him how much should I pay for showing me around, he kept saying "no worries, no worries" and said I have to pay only for the ride from Wagah to Lahore. Hence I had a rough estimation how much it will be. And because we became friends and I even met his family, spent the night at his house and sahoor with them, that totally lowered my guard as a traveler I should have, and that's why I got confused once he showed his true color. 🙁🙁

@@GoWithAidan from a few video I have seen from TH-camrs, the drivers at Wagha are a bit greedy, they try to charge in dollars or Indian rupees. Similar to what we see taxi drivers do in airports all over the world, it needs to be checked and corrected by the authorities.
I am sure if it was someone else, if they invited you into your home, they'd be moving head over heels for you , cause for us, home is a very sacred and private place, usually people here don't let anyone that they don't know let in.
But it's understandable to feel this way after you have trusted someone! It's leaves a bad taste.
If you're still in Lahore, hit me up, I will try to help you out in any way possible, even if our schedules align, maybe show you around the city as well! Maybe try to make it up for the bad experiences you have had here, specially as a first impression of the city and country!
