This car was designed by Jason Castriota, who also designed the 2007 onwards Maserati Gran Turismo, the SSC Tuatara, the Ferrari 599 and the Pinninfarina P4/5 among others, so the link to modern Maserati models and the Tuatara should come as no surprise
Actually, Jason Castriota designed 3 of my alltime concept cars : the Birdcage, which is probably number 1 , the Saab PhoeniX , Bertone Mantide and of course, the best looking hypercar in recent times, the Tuatara
This canopy design was very common in the late 80s/early 90s. The Buick Wildcat, Oldsmobile Aerotech, Plymouth Slingshot, Corbett Patriot concept, Zagato Raptor, Holden Hurricane, Sterling kitcar and several others
Had to look this up. Yeah what a car. You said it all. Very interesting car. Not a great lot of info I could find on it. I snuck under my radar. It is a beauty to look at.
You are right the styling lives on in the ssc tuatara as jason castriota designed the tuatara and was part of the team that designed this, you can see the similarities especially from the side and front grille and canopy
The closest thing I can think of to a non modded video game representation of this car is the Mancini Cavallo from Just Cause 2. Its very clearly inspired by the Birdcage. Real shame it didn't get anything official.
I heard that Maserati was considering making a new MC12 kind of thing based off a LaFerrari without the hybrid system? Can't remember when or where I heard this so don't assume this has any value at all, just hot air. But if it is true, that doesn't sound half bad ey.
I am looking to get back on Gran Turismo, haven't played since Gran Turismo 4 because I moved to Forza Motorsport and Horizon games. I am enjoying the Horizon games but want move back to Gran Turismo but don't how to get as much money as possible, got any good tips?
Am I the only person that thinks Maserati or Pagani needs to make something like the Aerial atom? We need more tiny death machines imo. I’m sure the Italians of all peoples could make it work.

Even 15 years later (its still a show Stopper) nothing will ever change that !
Everything about this car just screams "concept car" lol

The car itself is kind of innovative in desing.
Oh , and btw, i own a high quality 1 43 model of the Maserati Birdcage 75th, by Mini Miniera, 1/ 500 limited edition, just a work of art, masterpiece
Back to the Future
What if a Maserati Birdcage 75th would look like as a Time Machine?
is it just me or did the rim design make it to the mc20?
Pretty much, lol

They seem all the better for it, they're going from strength to strength
