Thanks. I was not aware of that limitation in iMovie. I've been looking for a HD camcorder that can be used with iMovie. Looks like I need to research that before anything else.
Hi seems like a decent camera, can you also mention about the battery life of the camera? Also the camera seems to have timelapse features? does it shoot on images or the video captuered for this? thanks for the review.
Just double-checked, while you can't edit the AVCHD 60p files, you CAN edit the MPEG4 60p files. As the camera comes defaulted to MPEG4 60p, when you take it out of the box, you'll be able to edit the files created! :)
You may not edit the GC-PX100's AVCHD files with iMovie 09 or 11. iMovie does not support footage recorded in 1080-60p. You may use this camera's iFrame mode ( for standard definition) or use Adobe Premiere Elements 11 (B&H # ADPE11WM) to edit 1080 60p footage. Please contact us via e-mail if you have additional questions: askbh{at}bandh{dot}com. Mark S.
This camera's iFrame mode is not standard def, its 720p, like the latest iPad and iPhone. Other companies' iFrame is SD (960x540). Interestingly enough, iMovie on the iPad DOES accept the 60p files.
The JVC will offer similar results with the added benefits of better video and the high shooting speeds of 300fps. Bear in mind that at the higher speeds resolution drops (640 x 360) and any blurring will become more evident. Please contact us via e-mail if you have additional questions: askbh{at}bandh{dot}com. I bought Casio EX-F1 in 2008 and I really want to upgrade to a better slow motion camera but this really doesnt seem to be that much better? Pretty much the same price as I paid for the EX-F1 back then.
Is there any place I can see a list of the top High-Speed camcorders? Every place I look they rate the 60p ones. I'm looking for 200+ at 640x480+ and not the Phantom, please.
Not bad but I see a problem. I like jvc but it's best to get a canon or nikon cam. Cause you don't have to worry about losing quality when changing up things.
my job consist of taking the final picture at horse races i currently use a nikon p510 and take 60 fps pictures there one megapixel shots but the focus are really good. will this camera have a good focus like my current camera. i dont pan when getting the final picture 300fps will really help put thanks
too bad there is no 24p native shooting capability. ND keeping shutter to 1/48th or 1/50th possible at 60p intending to drop into a 23.98 FCPX or similar software possible?
I am really impressed with the image quality the camera offers, especially in this price range. I am looking for a reasonably-priced camcorder which would allow to shoot 120 FPS in a decent quality. Unfortunately, this JVC has a large resolution drop between 60 FPS and 120 FPS. It would work with family vids, but I want to upload them on TH-cam, and in that situation they look like crap. Maybe you could recommend some not wallet-ripping cameras to shoot high speed at 720p? Thanks!

+Acir Mandello Junior You could use the JVC GC-PX100 Camcorder for live broadcasting, using software such as XSplit or Open Broadcaster, yes. You would need a capture card, though. B and H Hi, i´m choosing between the panasonic HCV-750 and the Canon T4i, but now i´m thinking to save money and buy Panasonic GH3. Can you help me to choose? Thank you.
Eduardo Milian Well, the T4i was discontinued by Canon and is no longer available. The successor is the T5i. As for saving money, the GH3 is more expensive than both the HC-V750 and T5i. Which of these cameras to go with would really depend on what exactly you are looking to shoot and how you shoot. I would suggest sending us an email letting us know a little bit more about what you will be shooting, how you plan on using the camera, and any features you are particularly looking for from the camera. We would then be better able to make a recommendation. *Christina* askbh@bandh.com

Definitely a niche camera for high school/college sports coaches shooting.
And should be parked on a good (B&H sold) fluid head tripod - not a $39.95 cheapie.
I first looked at it for spot news stills/video camera application - but this preview helped me see that it was not for me....
The included battery should power the camera for about 2-3 hours.
The timelapse feature records to a video file.
