One other thing that wasn't mentioned in the video is that, this kit has an opening cockpit mechanism, with a small pilot seat inside.
Like, Bandai didn't have to include that gimmick, but they did.
Makes sense if it's supposed to be a master grade with different proportions. Basically all MGs have cockpit opening mechanisms, most also have pilot figures.
I’m not a sd fan, but that looks impressive. The way they manage to compress so much down to that size is just amazing.
I like how it has the SD head but the rest looks properly proportioned.
Same, I was expecting the head to be bigger but his looks good.
@@junrosamura645 yeah, the head looks a bit smaller, but it packs some good stuff in it. I may try getting one if it’s not to expensive 😅
Before this thing, I was rigidly certain that I would never bother spending money on an SD kit. This has changed my mind. Looks gorgeous.

I just wish they did something other than the Freedom. I don't need yet another Freedom. They should've taken a chance with the Destiny Gundam or something other than a Freedom, Strike, or RX-78

@@monke_mojo i have to agree the freedom is really easy to recognize so it's mostly a testbed really for popularity before other suits

It looks great, has lots of gimmick, refined design, why not do it? Id love to see more of other suits but this is better than the RX-78 for a start. Only thing that would've been definitively "better" would've been a new Zaku II, considering there hasn't been a new MG for it in a long time, and it seems easy to design

They probably won't be as cute as the hello kitty zaku 2 variant ( mine has the zaku head on kitty's body 🤭) but cutes cute right?

I got this model 2 weeks ago at the BandaiNamco booth at SakuraCon in Seattle. Basically my second build(the first being a SD Zhang Fei God Gundam). At first I wasn't sure I wanted to do SD, but this was the only Master Grade they had in the store(other than the MGEX for over $150). Less than half way into it all my regrets went away. It was an engaging build, and the number of articulations was impressive.
OK, I lied, I have ONE regret. I now have the GUNPLA bug and NEED more.
Also, at this time there is the Barbatos MGSD, and in a couple of months they're gonna release a third MGSD, the Freedom with clear parts. I want all 3.
Had mine shipped yesterday. Very much looking forward to building this. I do like SD kits but the color accuracy is always wanting. This is straight up my alley!

This kit looked intriguing. Yesterday I saw a speedbuild of it and went "oh God I want this" and after this review I'm almost certainly buying one.

MGSD MK II titans and AEUG color would be awesome. Something about that simple design works so well in SD

Love the direction they are going with SD kits. First the cross Shilloutte frames, the boosters and this, so you can make models similar to sprite work in SRW games. Would love to see a bunch of gundams in this style. Especially the Hi Nu Gundam or Unicorn.
These intros are getting wild.
I love how you do a small intro detailing about the model and the anime it comes from.
Kind of making the kit feel more mythical and legendary.
I adore the proportions of this SD. Hope they do a lot more of these. It has something that other kits that size just don't.

The proportions kinda remind me of the extended frame forms of the Cross Silouette SD kits, going for that look they use in the animations in Super Robot Wars and the SD G Generation games.

Ever since my friend told me that they were coming out with a master grade SD Gundam I’ve been wanting to see a review of it and I think I’m definitely gonna get one for myself because it looks really good
I'm really impressed with this. I'm normally not a big fan of SDs but this definitely makes me want one.
oh fun i randomly saw this months ago on HLJ and liked the look of it. Didn't expect you to review an SD kit. It's sitting in my warehouse as it's the only kit i have that isn't on backorder on the site and seems a lot to pay $35+ shipping for an SD kit lol

@@gregorysmith908 same here i absolutely love the actual SRW kits that are the suits in their normal proportions but for one they’re expensive and two it’d be a nice additional line of kits to have their in game sprite models as kits too,
@@stevelopez6957 Agreed. They've been out of print so long that they're overpriced and hard to find. The sprites from the OG ps2 games and on would be perfect for this line. I at least want them to do some of the Huckbeins and Gespensts, if making so many molds would be expensive, it'd be like them doing the Zaku II.
I've been hyped for this kit and this makes me want to get on even more!
15:44 as a high grade Freedom Gundam and Infinite Justice Gundam owner, thank you for expressing this out. The Infinite Justice has a slightly better beam saber storage mechanism (a bit more solid). The one on the HG Freedom almost didn't work at all, and I have to put the sabers in the box rather than placing them on the Gunpla's side skirt.
My first ever gunpla kit was SD FA Unicorn, I can't wait to get this.
I'm currently enjoying my build of this build. It's nice for me because I have big ape hands that struggle with RG's but it takes up less shelf space vs. a standard MG kit
I didn't really used to like SDs much but I've been buying and building more of them as well as playing the G Gen games and I've def gained a new appreciation. Hell, I even like the really squat and goofy looking older ones with the weird proportions. Only ones I don't like at all still are the ones with eyes/pupils, but luckily most of those you can either use a different sticker that's included or paint a camera visor on. This looks awesome and I'm excited to see what else they do with this concept.
Im looking forward to the rest of this line! My backlog is getting pretty big so I’ll hold out until there’s a kit I really really want.

Funny about the bean sabers is on the RG GCP Freedom, Bandai introduced a rail system where the beam sabers slide into place to stay in.
It's nice to see that BANDAI is finnaly figuring out how to make the seed beam sabers stay in place better
man I always liked the NXedge figures (painting wasn't always the best but the SD proportions combined with the articulation was great) and this looks even better. Really hope they make kits like this of some of the bigger and less practical suits (like the Ex-S, Nightingale, Xi, some of the SEED suits with stupidly big backpacks, etc.). I always found the NXedge figures of the big suits were not only easier to display but also way easier to pose than any normally proportioned version.
The HG Xi is so good it deserves an MGSD
I hope this line continues. i adore the idea of a super-posable SD.

I would enjoy a Grungust Kit of any sort, though the transformation gimmick would 200% involve partsforming.
No way in heck can those legs be simultaneously thick enough to contain tank treads and thin enough to become wings, lest they incorporate some black magic
I hope they end up making some mobile armors in this line. They translate to SD scale so well so seeing a Neo Zeong or an Alpha Azieru would be dope
I like building sd in between the bigger more expensive kits for quick fun builds , and this one looks like the best of both worlds cool proportions closer to cs line but still plenty of parts and details to feel good accomplishment when done

So with how amazing this kit is. Imagine this kind of attention to detail and articulation in a master form. Say the pale rider space version in a master grade with this kind of detail. Wow!
Just hoping bandai would one day do thst kit justice and release it as a master grade.
Hopefully they would do this for the build series SD as well, those transformations would be perfect using the inner frame
i never imagined that i would buy sd type! this one of MGSD is superbly amazing!!! so i bought one!!!
First time seeing the keyhole peg (the one on freedom's shoulder) on a third party Mugen Liger for its huge backpack swords, saw Kotobukiya implement it on the Wild Liger and Fang Tiger (I hate the way older Koto zoids do the backpaks, they fall off with the slightest movement in general).
Not sure if these are the first times for both companies respectively, but I do want to see them more in the future with model kits having a peg that holds a major part/weapon moving forward.

The last full MGs we had were the Ginn, Eclipse and Virtue/Nadleeh in 2021.
2022 was, as you said; pretty barebones for releases. The HGUC line only had ONE kit.

oh man. Imagine an MGSD version of the Wukong Impulse Gundam with that combined power up set with the gauntlents and giant shoes with the gold all shimmering + effect parts

looking back, I honestly dont know why people thought it was not a good or a plausible idea for bandai to make an MG grade SD
the details and stuff that master grades are known for didn't seem easy to condense down for an SD
Maybe because 3rd party/KO company kinda already make one with rx78. And felt bandai want in on it too lol
that's because it takes slot of the regular MG in the pipeline, which are already pretty rare this days (not everyone has access to p-bandai).
There was a leak a while ago that confirmed everything we ended up hearing about the MGSD freedom gundam, but there was one other thing it mentioned that hasn't been confirmed yet:
"The next MGSD kit will be Barbatos."
Would be funny if the 3mm hole on the back will be for a Meteor unit

I typically build SD kits after finishing a complicated build. They're like a light, refreshing palate cleanser. But this thing looks astounding! A complicated and rewarding build in of itself! I'm not a huge fan of the SEED designs, but I definitely want to pick this kit up!

growing up playing lots of super robot wars series, MGSD is IMO, the perfect size for gunpla
Before someone complaining "Booo, MGSD is not MG-size!", I need to remind you that *it is* MG-size. SD models just have big heads & short limbs that made them shorter than their normal counterpart. "SD" stands for Super *Deformed* after all.
I'm definitely getting Barbados because this thing is fun cute and amazing.
Can't wait for the eventual MGSD Gundam Wing Zero Custom followed by MGSD Unicorn Gundam
