I catch these all the time but have been throwing them back because of the bones.. thanks for the how to on making them into something you can eat... you make it look easy removing the bones but it's a lot harder than it looks... FYI.. old timers call these fish "poor mans lobster" which gives you an idea of their taste....

Ever try scraping it? Idk if yall have lady fish but they’ve got the same deal. Bunch of floating bones. We leave them on ice for a day or to . Knock the sides off and scrape it with a spoon. The bones stick to the skin. This fish is a softer fish after sitting for a day or two we don’t have dragon fish so I’m not sure what that flesh is like.

Oh that sounds so good mate, I’ve never heard of scraping it will have to give it a go! These guys arent super soft but might still work. Will have to try sometime

Have you used that recipe with other fish?
I might try it with Luderick

I’ve used a few other fish never luderick tho! Would be keen to hear how you go mate, it’s a pretty generic recipe and doesn’t rely on the structure of the meat so much so I’m sure it would work with all sorts!

Reckon this would work with lobbies?

Surely it would work, I bet that crustacean meat would have a pretty awesome texture for it. Only drama I’d see is getting enough meat to make it worth it. My cray diving skills definitely aren’t there 😂
