Being a retired old school peace officer, I was heavily trained in the use of a nightstick, now called the baton (sounding more P.C. today). Strikes to major nerve areas on the limbs were the primary targets. The objective was to temporarily paralyze the limb, be it legs and arms. If the suspect cannot walk or strike you, then the threat was reduced. And by no measure was the head or neck ever an intended target! EVER!
Now in my 70s with balance issues, I use a cane to walk. I had one encounter with a hostile individual recently at the gas pumps at a local store. And when he refused to go away and continued his advance on me, I struck him on the outer thigh. The nerve was hit hard and he went to the ground. Fight over..
Good points , I used mine for walking stability pre hip replacement and recovery afterwards but I still carry it when going out in the dark around my apartment complex at night with my dog (friendly golden retriever) or mornings early to my part time job as there are some unknowns about at these times. I'll be 69 soon and it allows me a much better chance to stop a situation before it starts. I got my cane from C-M last year .
Great video. I recently got a Dojo training & Viking Guardian plus cane from Cane masters. Just ordered a Teardrop Plus in pure Hickory Heartwood. Cane Masters quality is top notch and they look great as well! I'm really enjoying how to use the cane for mobility and self protection. I recently developed back issues, etc. and the cane has become my close friend. Thanks for sharing.
Seems like great self-defense advice for cane users who can move like Aikido masters. Along with my cane, I'm going to carry a J-frame chambered in .38 Special or .357 magnum.
A cane, a Smith & Wesson Model 38 flat-latch, and 38 special wadcutters for everyday carry.
I'm saving up for a Ruger SP101 in .327 Fed Mag, 3" bbl, in which I'll carry H&R .327 Mag Fed. JST HP's, and train with .32 S&W Long rounds.
I used to own an SP101 in .357 Mag, but my hands and arms no longer like that kind of recoil shock, and .32 is still considerably less in recoil than .38 Spl, so with advances in JHP bullet designs, I don't really lose any real world efficacy by choosing .327 H&R JHP's over a .38 Spl JHP's., but my accuracy will greatly improve by using the lesser recoil choice.

Check out the FBI Ballistics results using .327 H&R Mag out of a Ruger SP101 3" (or Snubbie if you prefer) for EDC real world results, and the considerably lesser recoil during practice sessions using .32 S&W Long rounds instead of .38 Spls.

Firstly, thank you for a well laid out and presented vlog on real world can uses, it really DOES help for everyone to keep 'the basics' in mind.
However, I DO have a bone to pick with you sir, and your organization, on a variety of aspects, and I hope you'll consider them, because I support your channel, sharing your videos with friends and family, and others, and believe you provide a quality service and product which can help save lives.
Here for your consideration, are few thoughts which I hope you will read, consider, and to which you will respond, NOT in theoretical terms, but in Real World terms, because ALL of us must live in the Real World when 'out and about', no matter what our personal philosophical paradigms might well be:
Aspects which FEW if any people in this venue and others (including firearms channels promoting EDC) ever bother to DIRECTLY confront, are three fold:
1. The SEVERE insanity of how the legal system constantly provides ever GROWING protection of violent criminals by DA's, City Attnys, AG's, while persecuting (and prosecuting) innocent law abiding citizens who become the victims of those violent criminals when trying to defend themselves or their loves ones.
2. The ethical and moral dilemma of putting the legal/moral/ethical onus/responsibility for the physical welfare of the violent criminal, upon his/her INTENDED VICTIM, the law abiding citizens, DURING the process of DEFENDING themselves.
3. The entire concept of 'Disparity of Force', which is INHERENT between a younger and/or more powerful assailant; ie, Violent Criminal and his/her intended victim: someone like myself in their late 60's, or somewhere in the 70's, or even 80's, who happen to be rife with Medical Issues, some of which are moderate to severe, NOT being properly and fully discussed and debated, so that CHANGES in the laws may proceed.
My point is that until forums such as this one become brutally HONEST with these issues, nothing will change. Elderly people, younger people with disabilities, will continue to fall victim to stoners (drug addicts), thugs, career criminals, BLM/Antifa socialist extremists, pro-Hamas/Hezbollah thugs, all of whom believe that VIOLENCE against anyone who disagrees with them is legitimate action. Then we have big city 'kids' who 'play games' like Sucker Punch, or 'wanna have fun carjacking' some elderly person's vehicle, or think 'Boomers all need to die' (yes, THAT really IS a thing these days).
It is time to wake up and smell the hospital room aroma of too many people with tubes in every orifice, too many broken limbs, too many concussions, and too many family members having to turn their brain dead loved ones off of 'life support': ALL due to the actions of violent criminals, who are continually being defended by social justice DA's, City Attnys, Judges, and pro pols.
It is my sincere hope you will begin to have this direly needed conversation/debate. Thank you for your time.

Original CaneMasters International Association used the Heaven and Earth pattern for striking.
Simply parry, block, absorb, accept with the cane, deflect and redirect with the empty hand.
Any strikes above the shoulder are lethal.
Most states, it is illegal to poke with the tip of the cane..
A stick is a knife, is a sword, is a stick.
All three use the same angles and same movements.
Are the members of the original CaneMasters International Association recognized by the new Cane Masters Organization?

@@jrbailey3208 anyone young or old, handicapped or non handicapped can learn to have a focused center.
Once this is obtained, it is easy to see everything from the top of the head to the tip of the toes.
One has to simply see the action/threat through the eyes, for the brain to be able to process the information and send it through the central nervous system to the limbs of the body in order for the body to react naturally to the action/threat.
For those who use and carry a cane, the natural reaction will be with the limb holding the cane.
A weapon is merely an extension of the hand. Anything that you can do with a weapon can be done with the empty hands or visa versa.
Never focus on the attacker's eyes, weapon or the action.
Simply learn to have a focused center (the body is the Center and there is a center >nucleus < to the Center) and to focus on the center of your opponent and others around you, then you will never have to second guess anything that they may throw your way (focus only on their center in order to protect your own).

I am now old, close to 70 and handicapped due to a vehicle accident... but I have not always been old, nor handicapped.
Have trained in the military arts (Martial) since age ten.
And I volunteer teaching the young and the old, handicapped and non handicapped every day just to give back to the community and keep me up off of my backside.
Never take the handicapped for granted.
That is a handsome cane with a bird's head horn and palm rest. I have one similar to it from them in a lighter finish; sadly, perhaps tragically, Cane Master dropped the bird's head horn as an option. I have two other canes from them, non-bird's head. Truthfully and sincerely, until they bring back the bird's head horn, I will not purchase another.

Nice idea, but in Today's World, there are too many thugs, young, powerful, and dangerous, without even a scintilla of ethical or moral background, much less any biblical instruction, in how to 'treat others' in a 'respectful manner'.
The 'nice young people' will kill you and then laugh about it. The instances in the news across the entire nation are plethora.
Lastly, I couldn't outwalk a baby deer these days; my body simply won't let me; the ONLY option I have is to either fight or die, that's the entirely of my 'what are my options?', and that is a sad but real world fact of life for me. I know for a fact as well, that there are MILLIONS of other Boomers in the very same boat; and NO ONE is speaking for us.
