I grew up in Boise and have been to most of the places you went to. Back in the late 90s, the wife and I camped at warm lake. We took our small aluminum boat out and were able to get within about 50 yards from a moose standing in the water eating. At the same time, while watching the moose, we spotted a golden eagle perched in a tree above. It was such a cool experience to see a moose up close and a golden eagle in such a beautiful place. I think you should put tracks on your jeep for snow wheeling.

That's my favorite shot..that one and Rob's shot at night when we were in the Owyhees...that shot of us all lit up at camp from high above...was so good.
Enjoyed the video as usual. You mentioned the Owyhee area as a fun place to venture and overland....be warned that could come to a stop very soon. The Blue Ribbon Coalition just posted a legal update regarding this area and how Governor Tina Kotec (Oregon) has sent a letter to President Biden to make an executive order to make over 1.1 million acres of land into a Nation Monument....some of the land she wants to incorporate as a monument is in Idaho. This would be a situation similar to how the Yellowstone National Monument/Park incorporates parts of Idaho and Montana in it. With the major portion of the monument in Oregon this would give Oregon Federal money from this land and allow Oregon to make decisions over its use. This also could give the potential for a stopping of public use and access, or it could turn into a National Park that would bring higher traffic rates into the area and strain the ecosystems. Just some food for thought. the Blue ribbon Coalition is working to stop this and many other public lands as a land grab scheme.
I've seem the letter. There are a bunch of things in motion around that proposal, none of which are transparent. If it does get shut down, at least we've had the chance to have fun out there while it's open.
I really appreciate the Blue Ribbon Coalition and the work they do. Keeping my fingers crossed that the Owyhees stay open for us and future generations.

“Salmon River Brewery” You guys were in my literal backyard. I live in McCall and travel that road all the time in the summer. Last winter in late December I did make it to the top of the summit in my RZR 1000. My truck is too heavy.
🙄. I’ve been there a million times, no idea why I Flubbed the name. Did you run into issues with snowmobiles in the winter? It’s one reason we went early, to hit those roads before they were groomed or used much
@ No, not really. Lick Creek road is a huge avalanche zone so most locals stay out of there. Early as you went, its less due to less snow depth. There was an avalanche fatality just west of Cascade about 3 days ago, a Snowbiker got caught up in a terrain feature, below Lookout peak a d was buried pretty deep. I saw your other video where you guys were headed towards Deadwood Reservoir a few days ago and I kind of cringed on that, but you all turned around at the summit. That road is an avalanche zone from the summit clear down to the bottom. I used to work for the Sheriff’s office and we only ventured as far as that summit on sled patrol, then went back to Warm Lake. Too much hazard down that canyon.
It was still really early season with not a ton of snow out there…but I bet the risk is super high at the moment with all of the snow we’ve been having.
