    Did the same lift as you because of the great instructions and because the coilovers and rear shocks were on marketplace for only 100$. Also found a set of 5 255/75/17’s for 300$ and the runner looks great now. Not surprised to find you doing another great video on a project i plan to do. Thank you again!

    Exactly what I’ve been looking for my 4th Gen. I didn’t want the weight of a huge bumper. This is perfect nice job

    Love this mod! Great video. Thanks so much for sharing this! I copied your ammo can on my 03 model and use it for jumper cables. My wife drives it mostly and has loved when she has to jump someone and gets to show off the ammo can. Now if I can just convince her she may need a winch once in a while... Thanks again for the videos. I really enjoy seeing other people modding these great 4th gen 4Runners.

    I'm waiting to receive a Bud Built hidden winch mount, it's in the mail to me. I ordered from Bud because they build for 2010-2013 4Runners. This will be my first big project on my truck,. I'm building a stealthy style, not a flashy monster truck look. Thanks for the detailed video, it will be very helpful!

    Nice setup! I also have a 2005 and have long considered doing a hidden winch mount. I rarely need a winch, so I installed a receiver hitch in front for the winch when I need it.

    I love those ideas. What did you end up doing with the winch rope at the end?
    I've done a few of those winche mounts and they look sick. I also installed the Factory 55 at the end of the rope allowing to only see the d-ring adapter.

    Hello from Bolivia! That looks good, congratulations.
    Thanks for the ideas, I want to do the same to my 09 4Runner, but I have stock suspension... may be I should upgrade that first?
    Some spacers? or I should go with Bilsteins 5100's and stock springs? or may be a full lift?
    Or can I put the winch just like it is now and do suspension later? (I already have the winch sitting in my garage)
    Any suggestions from you will be apreciated, thanks!

    • @HawkeyeSkunkWorks
      @HawkeyeSkunkWorks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Id do the winch first, the added weight will probably sag the front end a little and will change your decision on how much suspension lift to do on the front. I lost about 1/4"

  • @2-old-Forthischet
    @2-old-Forthischet ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you have stiffer springs in the front to compensate for the winch? That is an awesome look.
    I just saw a video on Ew Toob of a 4th Gen 4Runner with a winch on the outside of the front bumper with no apparent tray. I wonder if they had a front hitch mounted which I did on my Chevy Express.

    • @HawkeyeSkunkWorks
      @HawkeyeSkunkWorks  ปีที่แล้ว

      No not necessary. It’s not that much extra weight especially with the synthetic line.

    Looked great.. I don't think you over thought or over built it.. I think it's strong enough..

    I think your bumper cut outs work well.. They'll look nicer with the light pods..

    Did your bumper fit properly. Looks like you put the winch plate on first then the crash bar. Would that make it stick out 1/4" more?

    Hi Hawkeye, love the videos. I know the 4runner was 3 years ago but I messaged you on Instagram asking how the winch mount held up when using the winch? I plan on doing the same set up but I’m curious if the 6 bolts that bolt onto the crash bar will hold up when using the winch. PleSe please please let me know! Thanks

I have a family friend whos willing to help me with some welding projects for my GX470 but I need to make things as easy as possible for him and give him design parts etc. Did you fabricate everything from scrap or were there parts that you purchased?

    • @HawkeyeSkunkWorks
      @HawkeyeSkunkWorks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      pretty much the same, a little harder because the GX doesnt have the bumper grill. Ill be putting out a video on it within the next couple weeks

    • @csgofordummies1239
      @csgofordummies1239 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HawkeyeSkunkWorks I would be having to cut the bumper regardless, the main thing I dont like is that all the ones out there are 1, way overpriced, 2 way too heavy, 3 cut the factor crossbar, 4 are too low because of this cutting of the crossbar and thus the cutting of the bumper happens at a suboptimal place looks wise = so I want to mount one ontop of the crossbar

    • @HawkeyeSkunkWorks
      @HawkeyeSkunkWorks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@csgofordummies1239 the SSO one is by far the best and yes it’s expensive. The winch is a little higher up than the others and it’s only like 60lb, which it completely replaces the front crash bar. Yes it’s expensive but it’s SSO quality, I almost bit the bullet and got one.
