The only reason you say that is because he's always saying, "The correct answer of course." but yeah, he and Brett definitely match more than Saint Richard
Adding my eternal thanks for these. They make my day. Am reading.a Fannie Flagg book, she is a wonderful storyteller. And love watching Richard win money for someone.
I usually "like" the thank yous, but I just want to add my own "thank you" today! THANK YOU!!! This was one of the happiest points of my childhood. Great to see these again in such good quality.
H/H match update: ... Today's action: Our old champion is defeated after winning two games and $450. Our new champion undoubtedly hopes to do even better as she faces her first Super-Match: Today's audience match question: "________ Herring" (My thoughts: Red, Pickled, Sliced) The celebs: Richard (Pickled), Charles (Kippered), Dick (Red) The choice: Pickled The answers: Smoked, Red, Pickled Now it's time for the contestant to choose Richard. (Just a guess.) Yup. This is now King Richard's 24th consecutive time playing the head-to-head, and he's been chosen 47 of the past 49 times. (Charles answered the remaining two questions.) Richard has matched 39 of his 101 most recent attempts (38.6%) and 22 of his last 58 attempts (37.9%). For the sake of comparison: Charles has matched 33 of his 65 attempts (50.8%), Fannie has matched 13 of her 26 attempts (50.0%), Jo Ann has matched 8 of her 18 attempts (44.4%), and Brett has matched 28 of her 68 attempts (41.2%). Today's H/H question: "_______ Boom" (My first thought was Sonic Boom.) The contestant is nodding. Richard quickly files his card. I've been matching contestants a lot lately, and today is no exception. She gives the predicted answer. The audience offers enthusiastic applause. I can't think of anything really obvious that Richard might say, so we may well have a match today. Yup! He got it! Richard scores his 238th H/H match today. ~~~Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (Note: An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.) (Note: For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 71.4% (5 wins in 7 attempts). Brett - 41.2% (28 wins in 68 attempts). Richard - 41.1% (238 wins in 579 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 912, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, and 910. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!") -- Also, note that episode 849 was never produced.

Question B: "They say the HORSE'S HEAD really brings out the bouquet." (Bzzt!) Tie-breaker, question A: "Between the Scotch and the HOPS, there was only one answer…" (Ding!)
Okay, a tiebreaker, cool. And nobody is going to mention the fact that a body would not fit in a wine bottle? It would probably only fit in a cask if you carved it up first. How big are these bottles, exactly? Oh well, we go to the tie match.
Unbelievable! I can't believe what I saw. I had to rewind a couple of times and replay that part. That contestant was robbed of her victory. I started out loving this game show, but it's instances such as this where it becomes increasingly more difficult to anymore.
alright i love me some richard . but im getting sick and tired of hime getting picked . even when he does bad , they still pick him again. im so glad they brouht in the wheel in the next year
sometimes GR talks at 90 miles an hour..then again, i would, too if i had to say the same things nearly with the same verbiage through every single episode..musta' driven him *nuts*!!
A lot of the times he's really not talking that fast. They either produced the show in a speeded up fashion or it was sped it up to fit more commercials in at syndication time.
I call "foul" on this just a little bit. As Alda is still being asked her answer to the question, I still hear panelists writing with their markers on the cards. And then they show Brett CLEARLY still writing!!
Having a cousin who is dyslexic it is very frustrating for her to have ppl " what are you dumb you can't even spell" or " where did you learn to spell" ... Amazingly google has been a God send to her ..she can say the word and it will bring the correct spelling for her @40+ that's cool ...to bad it wasn't there back then.
Charles is my favorite! He's a riot and matches more than most do!

Thank you so much for taking the time to post these episodes! I didn't even know about the show until a couple of months ago and now i love it!
Karol Cabral what a wonderful message! It's wonderful people like you why I enjoy sharing this mammoth library of Match Game with you all!
MatchGameProductions Thanks for the lovely response! :)
LOVE THIS CLASSIC SHOW!!!
Fun fact: Gene was the original Tonight Show sidekick, pioneering the role alongside Steve Allen in the 1950's.
Oh, so that's his issue with Ed McMahon.
Understand the animosity towards Ed nom!

I've seen in past shows that similar answers like Fannies instead of body she said Italian ...wouldnt have passed
Actually, you're right because it could be an Italian car, purse, or article of clothing.
Yea....and omg Fannie says "well, he's an Italian, he must be dead." Unbelievable.
Actually, this is Labor Day weekend and I am, literally,in the middle of the woods...LOL
Funny, Charles played Hoodoo on "Lidsville."
That was hard to watch.

That Jewish accent was immortalized by the superb Felix Bressart.

from what i understand, FF is dyslexic..i've seen her cards and her spelling, so it looks like.....

Nadya has Rogue colored hair.
X-Men reference. I like that!
Wasn't Rogue introduced in 1981? The two-tone 'do started around 74/75...
