Dominique, if I can share a comment, I must say the manner in which you honor your mother is so beautiful, respectful and loving. A practice that seems to be forgotten as time has passed and it "seems" many individuals in the world have become so lax and self-centered in nurturing their relationships. The gift of the presence of parents and grandparents in our lives is invaluable. As a young girl my, "Nana" was a constant in my life, and I doubt I would be who I am today had she not cared for and loved me unconditionally. God Bless you and your lovely mother. xo

I lost my last Gramma, 85yo, in February of last year. She was my moms mom. She was also a constant in my life, all thru childhood and into college. My mother is a nurse and 2 days a week my gramma would pick me up from school, it was such a treat!! We'd get ice cream, go to the store and sometimes a movie. As child, those were the most magical times!! And in college I would see her on weekends, routinely.
She was able to live alone into her late 70s and then she fell. Broke her shoulder. We are all in the medical field, nurses and doctors. My aunt was able to move in with her and help care for her, she is a retired RN. She had covid and never really got over it. She was able to die at home with all of us around her, which was what she wanted. She was full of love and wisdom and I miss her dearly 💖
I LOVE LOVE your blonde highlights! I know the whole “ gray” hair thing is good for some , but I have to say at 63 I love how color makes me feel. More confident and just a great pick me up! Your Mom is so amazing! ❤️❤️
Totally agree with you on hair colour I’m 57 end of February I love my blond highlights, getting it done this week I feel amazing after I have it done and so groomed and confident.

Coloring my hair improves the texture as well. The Grey root areas are dry and less flexible and less strong for me. The color and pre and post condition gives the hair bounce and shine and fullness. Looks young and fresh. I always feel and look younger.

Dominique, I enjoyed seeing your mother and listening to her challenges as a senior. I’m in my late 60’s and I can totally relate to her frustration with technology. She shouldn’t feel incompetent because it’s not uncommon for some of us seniors to feel frustrated with technology. We didn’t have it growing up and our minds and not wired the same as a person who grew up with all of this technology. She’s a sweetheart and I would love for her to share her childhood stories with us. Her apartment is beautiful just like her. Classy and elegant!!❤️
Why are we all expected to be the same? I hate technology and am not ashamed or embarrassed to admit it., I didn’t like it when I was younger and I don’t like it now.

Mom's hair in the fluffy Pixi cut is adorable. Been a fan for around 6 years, I wrote a letter to you once but didn't send it. In a nut shell it said thank you for teaching me I could be proud of my beauty and celebrate myself, to set time for self care after generations of women in my country were told to be humble, serve everyone else 1st and not to be in love with yourself or vain! It’s wonderful that you and your mom are so very close. Your mom has done well with her recovery. I myself welcomed in the new year with a compression fracture of my T11 vertebrae and the ct scan showed I had an old fracture of the T 7. Being a nurse and a get it done type person I have always just pushed through issues and kept going. I have to say this time the pain has stopped me dead in my tracks. I can empathize with your mom. Continued prayers for her.

HAIR LOOKS WONDERFUL... and so just to add..so does your MOM !!
I've had color for decades and I'm very fair complected and blue eyes. I stopped dyeing early October and my hair stylist put in a bunch of baby silver highlights. I LOVE my lighter hair!! I am enjoying new makeup colors(eyeshadow, lipstick) and my natural silver looks beautiful! I am almost 61 and I actually feel that this whole lighter hair just flatters my complexion much better. It helps to have a stylish haircut, too. If a woman goes gray/silver, and doesn't update her hair style and, if needed, change makeup colors, then yes, she's going to look older because she hasn't done anything else. Having dark or colored hair isn't the only way to look vibrant as we age. Dominique, you look beautiful as always!!!

Thank you for sharing your day's journey. It was great to see your mom. I empathize with her plight - my mom's health issues were such a burden for her mentally because that was not who she was. My mom was vibrant and caring and loved life but when her back was injured it seemed to have taken on a toll on so much a part of her being. I can see the sadness in your mom's eyes even through her smile. She is so lovely and so life driven. I hope she will recover fully. All her beautiful clothes and shoes are meant to cover her lovely physique and to enjoy wearing out for fun or relaxation . I admire her tenacity in the face of adversity. Give her hugs and kisses for me.

I could see that sadness in Audrey, as well. I recognize it as I feel it, too. Will be 65 soon; it’s so hard and scary to age once you reach your senior years. You realize that you don’t have a lot of years left. It weighs very heavily on you. I would have liked it better had Dominique not kept talking about her aging. She mentioned it several times; you could tell it made Audrey even sadder.
@@LoveABun You are spot on! My 70th birthday was this past November. No matter how much we care for our skin and tone our body for strength or appearance a slip and fall can be very scary and certainly painful. An illness or a physical accident can change everything mentally. I saw that happen to my mom. I too would like to have seen more compassion from Dominque. I have viewed her TH-cam channel for two years - found it during COVID-19 shut down. Seeing her mom so vibrant and a gusto for life was always inspirational. Somehow this visit with her mom seemed a bit ‘icy’ and indifferent. It almost looked as though her mom was intimidated to talk about her fall. All the positive babble talk goes right out the window when there is no end in sight to have pain relief. It is scary!
Yes, reaching the milestone of 65 does put things into perspective about longevity - perhaps not so much as the time we have left but how we will function as we age and manage all the change that occurs. Those thoughts pop into my mind at the oddest times too. Mindfulness is so important and facing the truth is more so. Take care and thank you for responding to my comment.
