Thank you for this video. I’m a girl and have 2013 c250 sport. I have found a new , super fun hobby for myself. I watch videos like this to learn. My 2 front spark plugs were in oil soup! I’m glad you responded to the guy that had the question because I thought it was the guy that changed my oil before me. Overfilling or something ! lol. I will make sure to even distribute pressure while sealing the valve cover again. I got new gaskets and spark plugs.
Quick question ….really early in the video you said “ map sensor “ on the top of valve cover near the 3 ignition coil. I thought that was the camshaft sensor and the map sensor was near the throttle body. Please let me know if you can cuz I put a camshaft sensor there ! 💀
Thanks for the comments Mindy, glad to hear you are learning more about your C250. Just make sure you clean up any oil residue before installing he new gaskets and plugs. You are correct regarding the sensor, that one is the camshaft sensor. The MAP sensor is located in the air tube along the front of the motor.
Good luck on your Mercedes project, Cheers!
so to not worry about the wiring harness, even in the WIS document its states to move it to the side, you made almost all of the work to free it up, only needed to remove the connector for the left (exhaust) vvt magnet, engine ground bolt , connector of coolant temperature sensor and the connector that goes to alternator, after that all of the wiring harness can be moved over the air filter box and you have so much room to move the valve cover, also its a good practice to follow manufacturer torque spec and sequence, in this case its not center out like you did, but it probably will do the job. Also the sensor on top of the valve cover is the intake camshaft position sensor.
Thanks for the information and the valuable tips. We obviously didn't have the Mercedes document while doing the repair. Glad to hear we were on the right track with the wire harness, just needed to unplug a couple more things.
Thanks again for hanging out, Cheers!

Just did my 2014 C250 after watching this. Thank you so much for a great video.

Very informative video! TIL that cars have valves. Just like people!
Thanks for the comments RIPHammer, glad we could help educate you today. Appreciate the feedback, thanks again for hanging out. Cheers!
First, thanks for sharing your video. I’m in process of replacing the valve cover gasket and plugs on my 2012 C250. What brand of 3/8” torque wrench are you using that can go as low as 6.6 ft. lbs.? I’m guessing Snap-on due the color.
Thanks for the question, we are using an older version of the Craftsman torque wrench. You may still be able to purchase it directly from Sears.

This model is able to go down to 5 ft. lbs. unlike the latest model which can only go down to 10 ft. lbs.

Good luck on your Mercedes project, let us know how things go.
Cheers!
@@BradleysGarage That’s a terrific price for a digital torque wrench!!
Your video was super helpful. The only issue I encountered was a cracked chain guide once I removed the valve cover, so it took another week to have it shipped to Hawaii.
Thanks again.
@raiyo4507 Agreed, we just recently purchased a spare one since it was on sale for $106.99. Then we have an extra one brand new ready to go if anything should ever happen to ours.
Glad to hear the video helped you out with your project. Thanks again for hanging out.
Cheers!
I lost a valve cover bolt when i replaced the gasket and have been having an issue with finding the right one online. Is there a part number I can reference to make sure I get the right one?
Thanks for the question, the correct MBZ part # is 113990022264

Not cheap but you may be able to locate an aftermarket one if needed. Good luck on your Mercedes Benz project.
Cheers!
@@BradleysGarage thank you
How does the oil leak through the injection coil cavity into the combustion chamber and coat the spark plug terminals? Does that mean the spark plug doesn't form a tight seal? If that is the case, we should have compression and ignition problems right?
Thanks for the questions Deepak, the oil is coming from a bad seal around that specific coil/plug. As shown in the video @8:42, each spark plug hole has it's own seal. If any one of those are bad you will have pooling of oil inside the spark plug hole and soaking the coil boot. The oil doesn't have anywhere to go, so it just fills up that cavity. You won't have to worry about any combustion issues since the plug creates a tight seal against the cylinder head.
Replacing the valve cover gasket will stop that oil leak and hopefully you won't have to replace the coil itself.
Good luck on your Mercedes project.
Cheers!
@@BradleysGaragethank you very much for taking the time to respond to me. How is it that at 12:40 then that we have while on the terminals of the spark plug? The terminals are inside combustion chamber, no? If the spark plug makes a tight seal then the terminals should not have any oil on them, 12:39 correct?
I’m sorry for the extra comment. Since my spark plugs were swimming in oil and there’s oil in everything ….all the nooks and crannies. I removed the spark plugs and ordered and thoroughly cleaned those 4 holes and all around. Should I clean every single thing oil is floating in ? I wish I should send a picture
Hey Mindy, feel free to reach out over on our Instagram page. You can send us a message and include pictures there.

Hopefully you tightened the number one plug before you reinstalled the coilpack
Thanks for the comments John. We actually filmed the coil and spark plug video right after so everything got replaced.
Appreciate the feedback though. Cheers!
Remove oil cap little more room
Thanks for the tip Frank, we realized that may help after editing the video and seeing the cap may be in the way.
Cheers!
Thank you very much!
Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed the video. Good luck on your Mercedes-Benz project. Cheers!
Deep clean
Not too bad here just a little oil leaking into cylinder #1. We will be posting the Spark Plug/Coil replacement video shortly.
Cheers!
