How the Left destroyed Paris

  • Twenty years of socialist rule has destroyed what makes Paris so iconic: From systematically removing its beautiful 19th century benches and street lamps, to creating endless cycle lanes causing havoc across the city’s roads. The city of light has become smothered by weeds, uncollected rubbish and a rat epidemic. Watch as Parisian journalist Anne-Elisabeth Moutet investigates the state of France’s capital. See the full video above.

My husband and I visited Paris A year ago and sadly it will be our last unless radical measures are taken. We’ve been visiting for long and the degradation and sense of insecurity doesn’t justify the effort and the money. Before, when we we were leaving the city we were already anticipating another trip, this time we were anxious to leave! Paris became a wastepipe! The politicians that allowed this to happen through the years with their political laxism for political gains should be imprisoned. This is stupidity, there’s no other form of putting it!

The rioting going on right NOW will certainly end tourism to France for good. Their own fault. They keep electing dirtbags like Macron. Macron doesn't give a damn, he's still dancing at weirdo Elton John's concert just like Marie Antoinette before him said "let them eat cake."

I lived in Paris in the 1980s, from 1983 to 1988. I now call the time I lived there..."The golden twilight".
I remember how clean and safe Paris was in those years, and how actually French it was
I remember the older trains and how well-dressed everyone was and how polite.
Now Paris and the rest of Europe are being invaded by migrants, leaving filth, crime, and ruin all about.
The European Union is at the very core of all the problems of Europe which is not mentioned in this video because it is not politically correct.
All I can say is that I lived in Paris then, in "The Golden Twilight" and unfortunately accept with a very sad heart that "my Paris" will be lost forever.

It's the same in Vienna. Our once beautiful city has completely been destroyed by a red-green coalition, and it's become so bad in the past ten years that scarcely any beauty is left here. There is just so much trash and clutter everywhere: modernist benches on which nobody sits, dozens of garishly-coloured rubbish bins (far more than necessary), public bike rental stations, concrete blocks, random poles without use or meaning, an overabundance of street signs, advertising billboards, redundant wire fences around statues and monuments, and much more... I don't understand why socialists have so little appreciation for aesthetics, and such a propensity towards ugliness.

Paris really isn't the most beautiful city in Europe, there are other contenders for sure... Prague and Florence for example! Paris is beautiful but has now become positively parochial compared to other more dynamic and culturally interesting places such as London.

The filth and depravity plaguing Paris today aren’t much different than what Paris suffered during and after the horrific French Revolution. Ethics, morality, along with Christian faith and values, were violently gutted from society and replaced with a hard, left leaning socialism. Since then, France has been slouching its way through Marxism to a technocratic, communist-leaning, atheistic oligarchy. This is precisely what is happening in every major 1st world city that has embraced Marxist progressivism, such as democrat run cities in America and no-go zones in Europe.

The worth problem as a Parisian is the number of construction sites that doesn’t seem to be active. It is like all the budget of the city is going to make the life of drivers difficult.
Still a beautiful city on the touristic parts but a nightmare outside.

Just like as if barbarians took over a place that was build carefully and thoughtfully. Sad, very sad. New generations are supposed to learn from the past and continue further development.

Paris is a beautiful place. Unfortunately the inherent problem with many French people in a position of power is that they want more power and above all to be seen as being very important. The way to achieve this is to completely ignore the job at hand and intimidate the underlings to deal with matters of relevance while playing politics instead.

I'm from the young U.S. and I never got that impression of Paris in the 10x or so that I've been going there since 1995. And yet I've never actually lived in a dense city like Paris--always a suburban community, as most Americans live in. Now I did see some ugly corners and even unattractive neighborhoods in Paris, especially in the northeast (especially the 18th), but for every unattractive corner or neighborhood I saw twice or 3x the opposite. I haven't been since the pandemic so it sounds like things have changed for the worse, but I found many parts of Paris to be beautiful and even very "upmarket" 10 years ago.
