@@rupammalakar3911 First : Neither he nor his government can do anything about it. Students decide what foreign language they want to learn, based on how valuable it will be in their future career. If schools are not teaching Russian language, it means there is little to no enrollment for that language - which also means students don't see Russian language as valuable as say French or German.
Second: It is not his or his government's job to promote Russian language in India. That is the job of Russian government. They have to either setup their own institutions in India to teach Russian language or tie up with some private institutes to promote Russian language. This how French, German and Chinese govt. promote their language.
Russian govt. also has to be more involved by initiating various cultural events to familiarize Indians with Russian language, culture and opportunities presented by Russia.

@@dudee08 for sure you're right in many ways... But it's today's reality which you're talking...
I have different point of view sir. lemme tell you few of them and you can have your opinion accordingly... I'm fine with that.
      1. After every 200-300 yrs the world order changes drastically be it economic order or cultural order. earlier Sanskrit was prominent in Middle East and Indian subcontinent... And Greek in Europe... And Latin in America... now English is there and after the end of this century with 200cr population even Indians can have their cultural impact on globe again if things go right. For this we should have everything which is our own otherwise the English dominance can't be challenged.
      2. You talked about global employment opportunities which comes with English... You're right... We are learning English too but what if we could create a world employment order which revolves around India then A common language which should be solely ours will be required.
      3. More than 52% population know how to read 'or' write 'or' speak in Hindi in India so it is easy to make it a common language for us despite Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Punjabi, Odia, Bengali or any other scheduled language.
      4. Using Hindi doesn't mean not using scheduled languages just like I'm typing in English and still I know Bhojpuri, Punjabi and Telugu.
And yes... I may sound over optimistic but it's a right time to give it a shot because we are here to do something good for future generations. It may not yield desired result but atleast few political regimes should go with it... Otherwise we will forever be in past glory and will never be able to attain success in future as a civilization.

@@Gyaan_with_PK I agree with almost everything you said.
I just want to say that pushing Hindi as a primary language in a way(like making it our national language etc) will only kill other dying languages of our country.
We as a country need to start valuing Hindi. As you said in terms of employment, in terms of improving hindi education, paying hindi teachers and professors more, buying and reading more Hindi literature. This has to be done by the people and supported by the govt.
But the govt does not talk about how it will achieve this, it only talks about pushing Hindi as if Hindi is dying and so is our culture (as if that is the only culture India has). If 52% of India speaks Hindi then surely that isn't the language in danger.
Pushing Hindi as a primary language just because more people use it serves only a certain political and social agenda.
The govt cannot ask Indians to be atmanirbhar and become entrepreneurs while not providing enough funds to the education sector and say Hindi isn't valued.
My mother teaches Hindi in a Hindi medium school, we both know what the state of the schools are in our country. So is the case with urdu and Bangla schools as well. I assume south Indians and north easterns face a similar problem. So what do you do?
Politicising saving Hindi as a solution to saving our culture is an easy answer to a difficult problem. That is my opinion.

Exactly, people here don't realise how many employment and business opportunities Indians are missing out on which other low income countries and their citizens are cashing out. Because of aging population there is a lot of demand for good skillful employees in europe, latin america and Japan especially in healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing, services sector which gets blocked because of language skills.
There should be atleast an option to learn one extra foreign language specifically Spanish, Japanese, French, Russian, Arabic.
Ex: You learn spanish and it becomes magnitude easier for you to work in Spain, mexico, developing latin american countries etc.
You learn French and along with france you can access an entire list of growing African economies.
And the most imp is Japan, probably most human resource starved with aging population, they are even offering full scholarships in order to attract potential students.
And please don't think of it as Brain drain or some other ridiculous idea, people can go there explore cultures, learn new things, make money and come back and contribute here as well.

A good citizen, is someone who criticizes it's country when it's wrong, supports it's country with all his strength. Never praises the country, but always looks forward to the future. Like a dad to his child. I think the people online, who contiously think and talk about what we have already done, and are overly proud of the country's achievements, can never be a real part of that achievement, they can never actually contribute to the country's greatness

I learnt German in my school. For real! For 4 years I was learning German in my school. As a IIIrd language after Hindi and English. Most of Indian schools will teach one regional language, then Hindi, then English. But since I am from Delhi so I learnt only Hindi, English and German. Russian should also be taught as in post soviet countries Russian is still used. They are trying to use their own language instead of Russian but Russia is pressuring them so that Russian is prelevant there.
