    From watching a lot of your videos, I've learned I'm a Dark Winter. Which makes sooo much sense. But I always got confused because people strongly suggested I was "warm undertoned' because my asking is beige/tan (depending on the season) and had brown eyes. The typical trope of always being warm if you are tanned and have deep eyes. I've been styling as if my undertone is "yellowish" when in reality it's PINK! Also, you have no idea how much orange I've worn in my life and it turns out I'm a Dark Winter :')

      I’m glad this was of service! I always got confused too because I can tan really dark. So I assumed I was warm because some colorists say that if you can tan you’re warm, so yes. Yellow and orange are the worst for this season hahaha. I’m glad you found your colors though and can explore something new! It’s so fun!

      @@MikaelaCarrizo yes it truly is fun, Especially the new colors 🥰 I've discovered the most lovely highlighter. It's very silver with a hint of very light pink a few years ago I would never touch it but now I'm actually excited to use a highlighter the silver tone makes me look kinda dewy too, which I personally really like. Dewy skin and Matte lips.

      @@MikaelaCarrizo I kind of don't agree because some warm colors don't always look good on warm toned people. Some warm toned people cannot wear the color orange, especially those that lean more neutral than warm. Borderline neutral toned people. Or olive toned people.

    I see your channel currently covers six seasonal color palettes (including what I believe is mine, dark winter), and I hope you cover the other six eventually as well. I just really like colors! These could also perhaps help me with character design (appearance-wise, at least) and drawing other people's characters in outfits they don't wear canonically (e.g. formal wear if they never appear at a formal event in the story).

    As someone who belongs to the deep autumn color palette I wanna say our dominant trait is saturation… and I beleive a winters dominant trait is high contrast. We both share “deep” because autumn can be neutral/warm
    & it makes sense since a lot of times we can borrow from the winter palette more than we can lighter stations.

    • @MikaelaCarrizo
      @MikaelaCarrizo  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      No :/ saturation means brightness and bright saturated colors overwhelm autumns.
      POC dark winters sometimes have less contrast… so no. The colors you can borrow depend on their dimensions.
      Look into color theory and see how colors are mixed etc, it will help you understand the concept more

    This is good. I'ma always confused on whether I'm neutral or bright. I KNOW I'm warm. but blues/purples look good on me. I wonder if they have more warmth to them and I hadn't realized. earth tones look so good on me. so I'm between autumn dark or true and the warmest brightest spring. bc there's a golden yellow that really makes me look alive. but I definitely get away with bolder colors no matter the temp. even baby blue and pinks look good on me. 😅 idk but I'ma lean into the warm gold's, greens and oranges for now. maybe royal blues mixed with greens. basically anything with heavy saturation no matter the color, in pretty fly in 😂😅. I hope that's not confusing. bc I'm confused haha

    This really explains a lot. Before knowing all of this I'd be like, oh this shirt does not look good on me. Noticed I look good in earth tones, then I found maybe bcoz I have warm undertones. Knowing that I purchased an Olive sweater and it looks awful on me. Realized it was probably bcoz it was a muted shade. I also have a friend who can say "Oh you look sickly in that shade of grey.". Really helps to know these things. Dark autumn here! Value and Chroma are often times overlooked. Thanks!

    I had a professional color analysis and I'm cool light and bright. Last one was a surprise, I identified myself as soft summer. I guess after watching your video bright and light are my secondary characteristics. I asked the consultant, who I am in 12 seasons, and she meant, I don't fit in this system as I'm too bright to be a Summer and too light to be a Winter. I guess, some people are falling throgh the system.

      There’s a 16 season system as well that can account for this! If anything, you might fall into the Light Summer palette (Light and Cool) in the 12 season analysis, since it’s on the brighter side than the rest of the Summer seasons. I think this is why it’s important to figure out which characteristic is dominant, as the rest kind of fall into place in terms of importance.

  • @Mia-yk2is
    @Mia-yk2is ปีที่แล้ว +48

    I’ve never been able to completely figure out my season, and this video finally helped me understand why; I don’t actually fit any of them!
    I’ve always known I’m muted and olive/neutral undertones with slightly lighter features, but this explication of how hue has to be a primary or secondary characteristic (which, since my olive undertone is by nature neutral makes it so it’s a non-factor) shows that there simply isn’t a category for me! I’d be best described as primary muted and secondary light!
    Now I wonder how the rest of us without a distinctive hue can make sense of our colouring... someone should come up with some neutral-hue categories lol. Any colour theory experts have any ideas??

Bright golden yellow vs mustard, bright orange vs rust/ pumpkin, bright grass green vs olive green. POC can be springs or summers too, even w/ dark hair. If bright suits you, you're a spring; otherwise you're autumn.

    I’m like super duper confused about what I am , since my characteristics are Cool, Light, and Bright/ Clear, there’s like six diff options :
    Cool summer, cool winter, light summer, light spring, clear winter or clear spring.
    I have ridiculously pale skin and cold/light icy blue eyes and strong copper hair so it’s really important for that I wear colours that suit me instead of making look odd.

    • @247heaven
      @247heaven ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Without having a photo of you, these are my thoughts:
      You have copper hair, which is a warm color, but your skin is very pale and cold, so the first thing you notice is NOT warmth. (This would be the case if you had a warm skin undertone)
      You have pale skin and icy blue eyes, but copper hair, so the first thing you notice is NOT light. (This would be the case if you had bright blonde hair)
      This would leave my conclusion with bright as the first thing you notice, which makes sense to me, without having a photo! You are not muted because there is a big contrast between your pale skin, blue eyes and copper hair, but its not the same kind of contrast as when you had dark brown or black hair!

    I’m still struggling with this. I don’t know if anything stands out about myself when I look in the mirror being cool other than being cool and light. I figure cool must be my primary since I can only wear cool colours, if there is the slightest hint of warmth, I look completely washed out. However, I look best in cool, bright colours but since I’m light, I can’t be a cool winter. I’m stuck with True Summer but taupe is not my friend so maybe this whole colour thing is just a load or horse manure. I had my colours done when I was younger and came out as a winter but according this way of looking at things that is impossible with naturally ash blonde hair and blue eyes. Colour me confused.

    I'm fair olive(east asian) and with muted/light features, but my natural VERY coarse and dark hair looks extremely heavy on me so I have to dye it ashy in order to balance it out. :( Contrast does not work for me as dark colors emphasize the shadows on my face as well as my veins that are peeking through-- which is making me look very tired. My "darkest" would be charcoal or navy.

    Oh fear I understand better the first video this one without the pictures is just more confusing.
    For me the problem is I always have problems to get the undertone or hue cause I see green and blue as really similar. So after so much ways to understand it I got I am under the warm side but not sure if is completely warm or not. So that confuse me if hue is my secon caracteristic or my first. Now the other two: value and chroma is difficult I know I’m not good with ashy colors. But the other parts are difficult cause there is not easy understandable ways to look is I’m bright or moderate o in wich part or the spectrum I’m am. Jaja sorry that sounds just crazy.

  • @AllyMarley

    I’m muted but can’t decide if i lean more cool or warm. I’m olive skin toned so i feel like it’s harder to decide. So going based on that im either soft autumn or soft summer. I’m going to try to wear colors from both to see which one is best. When you find your season, is it supposed to blend with you or make your features pop?

  • @beatricepineda5923
    @beatricepineda5923 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I’m a bit confused as to why the third dimension cannot be hue?
    In my case, I was born with pitch black hair, and very pale skin, with dark brown eyes that are very glassy almost metallic and shiny . However, being raised in hot climates, I have tanned in my face and neck, but my under arms and legs remain very light and pale, my face goes from a pale olive in the winter to a medium olive in the summer, and I’ve noticed that I do tan unevenly and can burn. My black and white pictures are high contrast and there’s nothing soft about my features. They’re very edgy and sharp. I get a lot of compliments when I wear a crisp, white and black and do well in jewel toned and vibrant colors.
    I have a feeling I was born as a bright winter but with all the tanning, I can possibly be a dark winter now ?
    Or is the truth, that I am always a bright winter, but can manage to wear deeper darker colors like a dark winter when I do 10 more in the summer ?
    So confused.

    I have a big question. What about natural redheads like myself who can often just get lumped as a warm spring or autumn? Or women of color who often just get lumped as a deep autumn or winter? I mean, for me my dark eyes are my most dominant feature but I struggle to see much red in my red hair. And black is a great color on me

    • @MikaelaCarrizo
      @MikaelaCarrizo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Great questions.
      I assesed the readhead in another response. Yes, red heads can be COLD, and many times are cold undertone :)
      I see this especially for darker read heads. It's hard to know without assesing each person personally. About for POC, I am doing individual research and assesing this separately, because it's a lot of information to go through in itself, and, although a lot of POC fall into winter or autumn, there are also people who will fall into summer and spring, it might be less common, but not SO rare.
      It's hard to find examples online, especially because most people wear make up and edit their photos and for a color assesment it's always better in person. It's definitely possible to asses color theory online with photos, but the pictures have to be with no make up and with hair pulled back etc.
      I try to look for examples of each season, but they are not perfect examples always, it's the 'overall appearance' that I go for

    My problem is that I cannot identify any characteristic as my primary one clearly. My hair and eyes are on the warm side but my skin undertone is neutral to slightly warm, so I guess I’m leaning towards warm but only slightly so it’s not my primary aspect. My eyes and hair are moderately dark compared to my skin but not too much, I have some contrast but it’s not too striking so I wouldn’t say that dark is my primary aspect either. Lastly I struggle to identify whether my features are muted or bright; I’d say they are leaning towards bright but only ever so slightly so again, not my primary aspect. So basically, it seems to me that I have no primary aspect because none of them are clearly one or the other :(
    Oh and also there seems to be no season for warm dark and bright so I’m just completely confused.
