you know what I think would be fun? you trying to buy the EXACT same outfits, but one in the "wrong" colors and one in the "right" colors. I think it would make it so much easier to see the difference!
Yeah I agree! I think with both of them, I noticed the *outfit* on the less flattering colors. But I really saw *their beauty* when they wore the flattering colors. They popped instead of the clothes, basically.
I think the main difference for me between the flattering and the unflattering colors is where I want to focus. With the unflattering colors my eyes go to the outfit and I think wow that’s a cute outfit! With the flattering colors my eye is drawn towards Mia and I think wow Mia is really pretty! Does anyone else notice the same thing?
No 🫤 I just notice that with a tan/the warmer foundation she actually DOES suit browns & oranges! However on the “good” side she looks SO pale, the red lipstick washes out her face even more & the sweater looks funny with those pants. That whole look is just so bad & worse than her usual style 🙈
yes totally the same, but also in general the outfits are different not only for colors so maybe a real fair comparison should be same clothes different colors lol
Yes! But to be fair the "untlattering" colour outfit was more stylish and the "flattering" was more unique and garish, so not to everyone's taste. Like that other person says, the only way to have a fair comparison would have been the same outfit in different colours.
On your mom, the difference between 'bad' color and 'good' ones was so clear. She looks great in either, but the summer palette made her look so fresh!
A few people are saying the same things, different ways. A younger person can "get away with" wearing colors outside their palette because their complexion doesn't have the complications of being older (ask me how I know). More peaks and valleys, if you will. A young pair of eyes will still sparkle even in the "wrong" shades, but older women really need the boost that the right palette will give. You are your mom are both beautiful. Also if you really love some of those forbidden colors, you can get away with some if they're not super close to your face. Oh, and the same with jewelry, it's ok to wear your "non" color as a ring, but I'd say if you're investing in a special pair of earrings, make those silver. The stylist did a great job!
Wow! In the "best" color outfit I was immediately drawn to Mia she just popped, but in the "bad" color outfit I was more so drawn to her outfit rather than her face. That is so crazy!
I think the "bad" colours didn't look so bad because you used the "wrong" make up with them. By doing this, you warmed up your skin tone and made everything coherent. It shows how people can get away with different colours when they change their make up to match. It is so true that your best colours make your features pop more and I think that's what colour analysis is for. Mama Maples looked indeed amazing in her true summer outfit! I also want to add that this video is so well made again, well done Mia! Loved it as always
It would be really interesting to see her get another analysis from someone else but while she’s wearing a warmer shade of makeup on her face instead of her paleness
I thought the same thing. I bet she would see a bigger difference in the looks if she used the cool tone foundation that matched her skin perfectly and tried to wear warm color outfits. Since the warm tone foundation had a golden or neutral undertone, warm colors in her outfit will work with it and look natural. That said, I think the cool palette suited Mia the best.
You have to remember that colour analysis is based on the undertone of your natural skin. This comparison would have been more accurate had you not worn foundation. By applying the "wrong" foundation, you essentially gave yourself a warm palette so that everything else paired with it that was warm went well with it, except for your hands. Your eyes and hair are pretty neutral, so they look fine with both looks. Your best colours will make you look better without foundation. They'll give you more definition and contrast naturally. They'll bring out your features subtly by themselves. Had you worn no foundation or worn the cool foundation with the warm look, it most certainly would have noticeably washed you out compared with the cool look. I think most women can pull off a different palette if they tint their foundation a bit. Your point still stands, though, that no colour is off limits if you like it, even if it isn't exactly doing anything for you.
She doesn’t have any really problem or noticeable things with her face or skin. If someone naturally has dark circles under their eyes or rosacea or some asymmetry or a large/tiny nose, etc. it is a lot more noticeable when they are in the wrong color palette. I personally look positively jaundiced in warm colors, which are my favorites, of course. 😂
I think the undertone of your skin still will shine out from under the foundation? But it does say when getting a color analysis, to not wear foundation.
@@cyndeewenzel6439 I absolutely concur that the wrong color foundation will skew analysis. The truth is if you wear the wrong shade of makeup, you just look less ‘right.’ For example, as a Summer, if I wear the peachy tone foundation the ubiquitous uninitiated makeup sales clerk invariably recommends - because I’m ‘fair’ - I look jaundiced. The warm color doesn’t match my skin or enhance my features. And I can rub all the ‘warm’ makeup in the world on my face, but if I wear the earth tones I love so much, I look yellow and sickly. I will admit there is a spectrum. Some people are closer to ‘neutral’ than others. I’m really, really cool-toned so there is not much forgiveness. Some folks seem to be able to fudge their palette more successfully.
I totally agree with you and I like to add that when you naturally love a certain colour and it makes you happy can really make you look good anyway. She loves orange which is (in my opinion) a happy colour so it boosts the ''mood'', overall.
The "bad" colors just make you blend in more. The "good" colors make you pop more ! You look good in both but you can see how you stand out different with your right palette
Bad colors makes her look older and matured. Good colors make her attractive, pop and lively. Bad color takes attention away from face to below the neck to bottom of her clothes. Good colors brings attention to her face, not body. Also she used warm foundation, making all those wrong warm colors suiting her coz of warm foundation. So if people want to wear colors they can't wear, a simple foundation change from cool to warm can also do the trick and make that look bearable
Mama Maples' comparison of her "good" and "bad" was a wow moment. She really shines in her color palette and looks so beautiful. It was harder to tell with yours because of the styling difference. I like the outfit of your "bad" colors so much and I thought it suited you. It would be interesting to see you in a similar style with your color palette.
I agree! I think the outfit with the “good” colors looked off because of how she styles the clothes (very mismatching). I’m sure if she dressed her usual style but just replaced the colors with her “good” colors, it would look great. It’s probably hard to create an outfit with colors you are not used to dressing yourself in so there will be an experimental phase on how to correctly use her season.
Here's the thing. She looks stunning in both but it is insane to be how much brighter and more lively she looked in her "correct" colors than her "incorrect" colors (I'm talking about in the side by side at the end specifically).
I agree. But also, if you're continually wondering why your face looks so red, or your dark circles so prominent, or why everyone asks you if you're feeling okay... it might just have something to do with the colors you're wearing, particularly up near your face. I've never met anyone who couldn't pull off any neutral on their bottom half, but as soon as a color is right up by your face, it really starts impacting how people perceive you & how you perceive yourself. I absolutely adore most colors... but they all don't love me back equally. If I'm going to wear an orange, it needs to be a bright, clear orange. If I'm going to wear a yellow, it needs to be a crisp, sunshine yellow. If I go pastel or muted, I either look muddy or washed out... now, yellow and orange aren't my best colors, far from it... but they're the best versions of those colors for me. Purples, bright blues, all the pinks, blue based reds, blue leaning greens, and coral all look fabulous on me though. It's not surprising my wardrobe is filled with them. I feel good in them because I look good in them. Thankfully, I survived the obsession with warm tones intact because warm browns & terracottas make me look like gray mud.
Yes! As a stylist….I think color analysis can be fun, but wear what you feel great in! Bottom line….that’s really all that matters. People take color analysis WAY too seriously IMO
I get what you're saying, but as someone with yellow and pink undertones, trust me, I look awful in yellow and orange. They make my skin look way too yellow, and some colors do make my face look more pink. I still wear what I want, but it helps that my fav colors to wear are colors that compliment me.
I think Momma Maples understood the assignment! In her best colors, she's the epitome of comfortable chic. That outfit looked effortless & comfortable & polished without being overdone.
I think the reason Mia looked so much better in her “wrong” colors is because she has experience with them. The “right” colors became such a weird outfit that didn’t really go together. If she went shopping and found pretty and simple pieces in her right colors like her outfit in her wrong colors it would look much better
I think so too! The outfit with the "right" colors looked like it has been jumbled together, that's why the outfit looks a little weird. The outfit with the "wrong" colors on the other hand was perfectly coordinated in color and style, that's why it looked better overall. But you can see that the "right" colors made her face pop more anyway...
It also made no sense in my opinion to cover her skin with a warm toned foundation. When skin is the primary focus of colour analysis and making the skin tone look even and radiant, it makes most sense when comparing the effects of your colours to not wear any foundation. I bet if we could see her actual skin for the “wrong colours” outfit it wouldn’t be flattering to it! The thing about experience shows in the makeup for me too as well as the outfit - no one is saying that a cool palette means you’re going to look good in green eyeshadow with fuchsia lipstick 😂 She could have used cool toned browns, greys, pinks and stayed within her comfort zone of more natural, neutral makeup for a better comparison
Mama Maple’s side-by-side is a PERFECT example! Her Eyes are poppin’! And her skin tone looks more even. She looks like she *feels* more cool, confident, and cohesive in her color season! ❤
What's so interesting to me is I thought you both SLAYED your "bad" colors, but I think that's because you both had way better styled outfits and were more confident wearing those colors in general!! I would LOVE to see a capsule wardrobe or "a week wearing my best colors" video where you shop and wear only your best colors! Bonus points if you do a color blind shopping challenge where you pick out pieces using an inverted color filter and mama maples makes sure she orders them in the right color for you!
I disagree. With all the respect she deserves that wrong outfit on Momma Maples was bad. She was so washed out. I LOVED her right colors outfit. The blue was beautiful on her.
That’s the thing! The outfit slay but their faces are washed out or more like blend into their outfits, with the correct colors their faces pop out more and is the center of attention.
I have a important tip: you CAN use colors that are not on you pallette if you combine them with colors that complements your skin. Example: you can wear orange if you combine it with more cool toned colors on your clothes, make up and accessories. If you use a color that is not on you pallette, make it far from your face, like a strapless top for example and then use silver acessories and cool make up.
Yes exactly. The further away from your face, the less impact the color will have. Black shoes? Not a problem for most. Black turtleneck? You will look like a floating head, unless you are a winter that looks good in very dark color. Scarfs in your best colors can help a lot, or layering so that the top layer/closest layer to your skin is a color that makes you look good.
Yes, because the colors next to each other will change the temperature and tone of the colors they are next to. The dark black pants probably made the "bad" colored shirt and jacket look brighter and better on her.
i think when it comes down to it, wear what you want. there are colors that are going to look amazing on you, and some that will wash you out. but if you truly love a piece don’t be afraid to wear it!💕
Precisely! Mia was bang on when she said that you still need to wear things that make you happy and make you feel good. Feeling good in your clothes is definitely most important, in my opinion!
It's becoz she wore warm foundation as base. Giving false impression she is warm toned Making all warm color eyeshadow, lipstick look good on warm tone. She shud have used her own cool skin or cool tone foundation as base. On her cool skin tone, all these warm colors wud look terrible and make her washed out. Also the warm dress looks good, but it washes her face out, and make her look matured. Her face looked ordinary and pale. All attention went to her warm dress, aka down the neck, not her face. She didn't stand out. While in cool dress all attention went to her face, not dress, it made her face and eyes pop, sparkle and lovely. Made her look attractive and young. It also means u can neutralise cool skin effect, using warm foundation as base, warm make up, to wear your favourite off color cloths that doesn't suit u
I honestly really like the outfit with your “bad colors” but mostly because of the style! I think if you styled a similar looking outfit with your “good” colors, you’d get the result you’re looking for :D
Color analysis is hundreds of years old. It became popular in the late 80s early 90s by Carole Jackson of Color Me Beautiful. Use your pallette for pieces next to your face. You don't have to get rid of black slacks & skirts. Have fun! 🌈
Mama Maples nailed this experiment. Both sets of her outfits/makeup were still very HER, and super cute in themselves. Her skin and eyes and hair completely glowed in her summer palette. Beautiful.
I'm glad that Mia mentioned this. I think a lot of colour analysis videos focus too much on what colour makes you look your "best". Fashion isn't always about looking your best but also enjoying what you wear regardless of colour (even if they do not happen to fall in your palette). And in any case you look your best when you are happy and comfortable in your clothes, whatever colour they may be!
yes! i’m sure color analysis helps a lot of people find what makes them feel most confident but if you have something already that makes you feel good, go with it! i have very pale, very pink skin but i love pale pink so i wear it. i’m sure it’s not at all “my color.” but it makes me happy!
I wore browns, beiges, off whites and cream colours most of my young life. When I met my husband (and after a few years!) he suggested that I buy a red dress, he said he thought it would be a great colour on me! And he was right! My sister did Color Analysis, as did I many years after that and I realized that he had been right! I am a Winter and red was definitely in my palette! Great vlog! Love that you did this with your mom!
Finally! Someone who acknowledge that "bad" colors aren't so bad and don't need to be avoided like the plague. I liked the blend and flow of the monochrome color scheme on you. I do think the right colors made you pop, they also made you a lot more contrasted and more pale. I like a softer look on you. 🙂
That’s because you have to keep in mind your essence when you wear colors. Color analysis is very valuable but depending on your essence, you need to tweak it. For example, Mia is an Ingenue essence. Meaning she looks innocent and sweet. So although the lip color was the correct shade, the matte color was too bold. But if she wore a glossy version of the same pink, it would look amazing on her.
Just keep a cool-toned brown eyeshadow look. A bold lip and neutral eyeshadow is always a classier combo (than both bold). That lipstick is GORGEOUS on you.
It's so funny because I've just started watching her videos and have noticed right away which colours suit her because in each video where I think a colour washes her out or makes her look really good, she always sides with the colour I was against LOL. She looks so good in these red types of lipsticks and shirts and sweaters, but she hates wearing them.
Your makeup was movie star from the 30’s and so beautiful- even though you thought it was maybe too bright- it was stunning! Makeup is always better for any season if you focus either on lips OR eyes and neutralize the other, you will feel harmonious. Your skin is so smooth with the cool
Am I crazy? I lovedddd her “bad color” look! She also looked cute in her good colors but that orange turtleneck is so cute on her! Also haircut is giving edgy cool girl chic and I love it!!
As much as i like the "bad colour " outfit, I still think Mia looked more fresh and radiant in her best colours. Her hair , skin tone , and eyes look brighter .
I am glad that at the end, you mentionned that it is also important to wear what you like and what you enjoy wearing. The color theory is interesting and can help you build your wardrobe, but ultimately, you just wear what makes you feel confident and happy.
I had my colors done when I was about 16, now I'm 60. It helped me avoid buying all the wrong colors and wasting tons of money for all these years. I still have my color palette booklet too in my trinket box but don't need to check it when I shop, I know what colors to buy. I have natural red hair still with very few grey hairs coming in, light skin with alot of red undertones and blue eyes so I never buy anything pink, purple, grey or white ever! Those colors are horrible on me. My best colors are peach, midnight blue and greens and browns, all earth tones that mix and match easily with each other. I'm glad I had my colors done so young because it gave me the confidence to choose my clothes wisely and I always felt good in knowing that what I was wearing worked for me. I enjoyed your video very much and you will always know the secret to looking out together from now on! 😍👍
So even though you don't look "bad" in your wrong colors, you look so vibrant in your correct color season. Even the more colorful makeup looks natural because it brings out your natural undertones. Crazy!
Your mom looked SO lovely in her "best" outfit plus makeup! She looks so bright and fresh-faced. Her face just pops and her sweet, vibrant personality shines through even more! I agree with some of the comments like buying an outfit style you usually gravitate towards but buy them in your "worst" and "best" colors. I also think it would be interesting to see a professional makeup artist do a makeup look in your "best" color palette and see if that makes a difference🤔
I don’t think the planets make up 80% of the cardigan as summer colors though. The base color is definitely too dark for her season. I also think in general adding too many colors in an outfit will be overpowering regardless. Would love to see Mia try a simpler outfit in cool summer colors though! Also, I think people that think the “good” colors look worse on her should keep in mind that Mia just learned that those colors are great for her. She doesn’t wear those colors to begin with so there will be an experimental phase where she figures out how to incorporate her season correctly. I also think Julia gave the foundation advice as a way to easily find a match to your skin tone, because you wouldn’t want to wear warm foundation when you are cool, it would mismatch the rest of your skin (unless you color your whole body with warm foundation). Try the outfits again but without makeup, that way there is a control in the comparison.
Yes! The cardigan was too much black and had too busy of a design to really gauge. I agree with some of the comments that it would be a good idea to have the same exact outfit in the two different color palettes as a fair comparison.
You’re a goddess for being so raw and real on such a difficult subject. Mental health is so important to bring into mainstream reality and the more people talk about it the more people will hopefully be more comfortable with it. Bless you for doing what you do and doing so well to get through the hard times and out the other side with such grace x
This was so much fun to watch! I watched another color analysis expert who said the most important thing was to wear your complimentary colors by your face. You can wear other colors that you like as pants or skirts and even for accessories like belts and bags. She said if you love a black top but that's not your best color, you could add a scarf in a complementary color. It makes sense to me since color analysis is always done against the face.
The thing is that if you wear more warm tones with a warm foundation, your "wrong" colours will be kind of okay, bc you're actually putting colors that combine with eachother together, so it doesn't look ugly, it just looks flat, and even if there's no orange, you can still try a more cool orange!
I agree; she matched her foundation to the 'wrong' colours, so naturally, it will look okay together. It's when you don't wear loads of make-up that you can really tell the difference. Mama Maples was a really good example; she absolutely shone in her blue colours. Anyway, I think Mia should keep wearing what she feels good in. Loved the video though 🙂
well, yes and no. every color can be more warm or cool toned, its the undertone (such as our skin) that determines that. so you can have orange that has a more blue undertone to it but it's not BROWN brown, it's just going to be more cool (and a bit more like a pinkish orange, bc colour theory), brown can be more cool or warm too. That's why you have bronzer (warmer) and countor (cooler), for example. of course: there's never going to be orange in her pallete, but she can play with colours and equal all the cool and warm things near her face mostly, the rest is fine @@cyan_the_uranian
@@marinamerch it's not relative, she has a cool undertone so it's a fact that she looks better in cool colors, i think you're just biased to prefer the warm colors because they're more trendy and you probably don't know much about color analysis
I've watched several of these color match videos, but this is the first one that actually made it make sense to me. everything else was just like flipping colors really fast and not explaining anything. love this.
Im an image consultant and yes she's totally right BUT you can wear your "worst" colors in your pants or shoes or somewhere far from your face 😊 so you don't have to get rid of your black shoes or bags or pants ❤❤❤
That’s so good to know! I love olive green, burnt orange and other colors that are not good, near my face. However, a monochromatic green outfit, with a lighter green near my face could work well, or dark olive and a lighter warm orange and/or gold ..
That’s so good to know! I love olive green, burnt orange and other colors that are not good, near my face. However, a monochromatic green outfit, with a lighter yellow-green near my face could work well, or dark olive and a lighter warm orange and/or gold
Despite never ever ever wanting to wear blue or green eyeshadow myself, the cool toned palette looked awesome on you. This is the first time I've ever seen your Channel and I really enjoyed the video. It was really fun
I remember Mia says all the time that she doesn't like attracting attention through flashy outfits (the video with the crazy shoes and another with a eye-catching dress) -- so I wonder if Mia was subconsciously attracted to all the 'unflattering' colors (warm) that made her blend in more? Because like a lot have people have been saying, the 'cool' colors definitely makes Mia's features pop more.
During the specialist moment, I was fully on agreeing with her seeing the different shades and tones on you, but when you showed up with the "bad" colors outfit vs good one I immediately thought "okay but she looks AMAZING in both" so at the end of the day I think finding your style outweighs finding your color palette, since the latter is always changing with fashion as well, and it matters most what makes you feel more comfortable ❤
It's becoz she wore warm foundation as base. Giving false impression she is warm tones. Making all warm color eyeshadow, lipstick look good on warm tone. I'm a colour consultant who works with the same colour system and your colouring looks warmer to me. It's not typical for a cool season to have as warm of an eye and hair colour as you. Tyically, when someone trully has a cooler skintone and warmer eyes, they may be a more neutral version of cool
@@giselleskullington3932that isn’t her natural color (the analyst should’ve covered up her hair….) which is why it clashes, but no, everyone looks the best in their natural color in terms of color analysis. the entire point is to find colors that harmonize best with your natural coloring, so obviously your natural hair color will harmonize best with that because it literally is your natural coloring
It’s not her natural hair color… And she dyed after doing the analysis but didn’t said anything to the hair stylist. She said he could do what he wanted.
I’ve been obsessed with these color analysis videos, I think they are fun and as an artist almost a challenge on how to interact with color in everyday life. I have seen a lot of negatives towards this though about how it’s not an exact science and feels like a scam. But I feel like nobody ever claimed that it was, that it’s something to live by and only that is your truth. Just like therapy or any advice you get from anyone, that’s all it is; ADVICE. Nobody is forcing anyone to follow it to a tea. It’s a guide, if you struggle with color or style or fashion or just want to learn about it then these videos are a great way to get insight on those topics. She looks amazing in both colors, the suggested colors do make her look more bright and energetic but that is not the standard. Clothing and color is personal, experimental and subjective. At the end of the day wear whatever makes you comfortable and happy and what you think makes you look the best!
You can absolutely tell the difference wow. Mama Maples needs to take her new color match theory as BIBLE cause wow did she look stunning in her matched colors vs all the brown dull colors.
Honestly, you are super lovely in everything. Wearing the correct shades compliments your features, you actually shine in your true colors/shades!! Good to accept the best of you!!
It's crazy to see the visual difference in the side-by-side of the cool palette and the warm palette on mama maples. You can literally see her face come alive with a cool tones palette.
The right colours definitely make you pop more, they compliment your skin tone nicely where the 'wrong' colours tend to wash you out. However, from what i know about using colour analysis, you can actually wear any kind of bottoms you want, even the 'wrong' colour, as long as you have your complimentary colours closer to your face, it still works. So a tip to try out :)
When you're first shopping for all your right colors you might have to wear wrong colors on the bottom, but when people look at you they see all of you and it definitely looks better to be in your right colors from head to foot. It just takes time to get there and that's why they say at first it's ok if you need to wear wrong colors on the bottom half.
I found her right colors so intriguing and so artistic. I could really see all her features pop. It was art and pleasing on the eyes. But Mia is so stunning, her wrong colors are still gorgeous on her. Beautiful lady
I've found that it's easier to see the good/ bad colors when I try them on with a bare face. The wrong colors will wash me out and make me look ill, while the right colors will decrease the need for a full face of makeup because my skin will look fresh and clear.
definitely, i always need to wear tons more concealer when i wear the wrong colors !! no matter how much i layer on my face still looks more splotchy and uneven !! but with the right colors i look smooth and fresh
I really couldn't tell too much with Mia what colors looked best, she looked good in everything. With mama maples her right colors just made her shine.
Definitely a lot of it has to do with preference! One of the few things we can control in life is what we wear, and girl you’re rocking all the colors. I personally think you look best in your “wrong” colors🥰
I literally say "mama and baby" whenever I see two things where one is bigger than the other I was so happy to see their "mama and baby" shirts I feel a little validated now! Because the way they said it changed my brain chemistry
I think the “best color” outfit you chose didn’t give it much of a chance because it was a little loud. But you could definitely see it with mama maples, her face looked more vibrant with her “best colors”. Loved the video !!
i really do think that we should be able to wear our favorite colors without thinking on ‘am i looking the best i can?’ if you feel like you are more yourself with warm pastel colors that’s AWESOME!! i think you look fantastic with your autumn grandma style, you rock mia!!!!🧡🧡
Trust me, once you start seeing yourself in the "right" colors, they can actually become favorites because not only do they flatter you but you flatter them. I used to hate pink, now I love wearing it. I never bought anything in light yellow, but now I love it. But you can also still wear your favorite colors, no one is forcing anyone to do this 😃 it's just for people who want to really pop.
@@lilmissmonsterrrthat’s true! But do you truly like it or are you convincing yourself that you like it because you SHOULD like it? I’m sure you do like it, but that’s what I would always be thinking 😅
I've noticed a lot if the time someone's 'best colours' is more about how other people perceive you, rather than if you're the one who actually likes them or not, also not everyone cares about a 'natural' type aesthetic, it's all subjective
honestly both outfits looks great on you but i will say the "right colors" one does make your eyes and skin pop more, i think both are cute and you should wear what colors make you happy! this could be great to know for photo shoots for you though or something you know you need to look very bright and airy!
Your hair makes you look so adult. It's amazing. Brad did so well. I didn't even notice how good you look till you were in your "good colors" outfit but you look like an actual adult. I'm 33, and you looked more "mature" in the best way possible, than I ever have lol
you know it’s pretty nuanced but i think the difference isn’t necessarily which colors look best on you; i think it’s more “which colors put the focus on you”. yes the “worse” color outfits look gorgeous because they’re all a similar tone, and you have outfits you’ve already put together from those colors; but in those outfits, you’re exchangeable, you’re not the subject-the outfit is. which makes sense for anyone curating a cute outfit, of course it’ll stand out! but on the “good” color side, even with those wild colors, the FIRST thing i saw was your face. it was like i could picture you irl, whereas the “worse” side looked like a catalogue or pinterest image; your face almost blurred mentally. it comes down to whatever you feel most comfortable in at the end of the day, and that might be a part of it too; depending on how much you as a person want to be noticed may impact what you wear. for example i would wear worse colors to work so i blend in/am comfortable, and good colors on a date with my husband or an important event!
Exactly! It's about the face, not the clothes. She said she was complemented on the orange shirt...probably because they liked the shirt; notice she didn't say they said it looked good on her, just that they liked *it*!
I feel like all your “bad colors” make you look much more youthful. And when you had the warm colors on your eyes, I could see the Amber in them which was stunning. I actually preferred you in your warmer palette so I’m not sure how much I subscribe to color analysis. I think it all comes down to confidence and preference. :)

@@LikesLimes I didn't know much about it before, but I'm also beginning to hate it. I can see how it would be useful for choosing an outfit to go all out at an event, but this just seemed so negative and restrictive. I very much did not like how she had Mia convinced that her favorite colors made her look ugly somehow. Sure, maybe some "cool summer" colors look extra nice on her, but she still looked great with the "bad" colors.
The pastels look especially pretty on her, I was quite surprised her analysis suggested deeper colours. I am definitely still learning about all this, but maybe the pastels don't make her 'pop', but they look like a giant warm hug. I'm not sure anyone wants to 'pop' every single day of the year lol
@@katyb2793 completely agree!! Hope she sees this bc I think the pastels look amazing on her. I thought I was alone in not liking this color matching thing. I just feel you should wear what makes you happy. I think Mia has an amazing style n looks great in the clothes she chooses normally.
I actually LOVE your look in your "least flattering" colours! I think you look gorgeous and they make YOU shine, while the "flattering" colours are too overpowering. But tbh, you'll look great whatever colours you decide to wear - the most important thing is that you like the clothes ❤
It's becoz she wore warm foundation as base. Giving false impression she is warm tones. Making all warm color eyeshadow, lipstick look good on warm tone. She shud have used her own skin or cool tone foundation as base. On her cool skin tone, all these warm colors wud look terrible and make her washed out. Also the warm dress looks good, but it washes her face out. All attention went to her dress, aka down the neck, not her face. She didn't stand out. While in cool dress all attention went to her face, not dress, it made her face and eyes pop, sparkle and lovely
Wearing the cool summer colors really made a difference. When it came to clothing, even though the black sweater had your colors in it, the black still looked dominate. I think that outfit would look really awesome if you paired it up with a blouse that matched the stripe on the pants. The blue/green eye shadow worked, and it did give your eyes more attention. But since you are used to a more neutral eye color, using some cool browns would work well too. You and your Mom looked awesome. Love your channel !!
I love how you matured. Your content no longer being about fast fashion, Hauls and make- up and that your good values and warm heart are now showing through even more. Plus you got not only a wonderful family, you got a husband who seems equally wonderful. Nice to still see you have fun. Big hugs Mia.
Not the same way as before. I feel she just got better at making it more than about that. Hard to explain. Much obliged for the reply. Have a lovely day…. :).@@226iamacake
Much obliged for the reply. I know, but differently than before. She now shows people how the fast- fashion world exploits people. Surely this shift has not escaped you seeing you seem to be a fan of hers. I feel she is doing way more now to celebrate fashion and beauty, differently with integrity. Is a compliment. Is nice to see someone mature in such a way. Great role- model for the younger people in here. Have a lovely day…. :).@@PirateSkitchan
But I did said fast- fashion and hauls. Obviously her love is for fashion and make- up, why would she change that? You may have misunderstood my comment. Cute kitten- face by the way…. :).@@226iamacake
Honestly from watching all this videos, i think the most useful part is not even about colors, but about neutrals, especially for day to day life. Because with colors it is hard to change what you love, and i believe you can make everything work😂 but knowing your neutrals very useful when you are shopping for your basics to wear for work etc P.S. shots with Mama Maples at the end so precious! And i loved the outfits 🥹
The makeup in the “good colors” is stunningly gorgeous!!! That shade of lipstick is beautiful on you!! Mama Maples looks gorgeous too!! Love you both!!
I had this done with my best friend in 1994, and even way back then color analysis/seasons was considered "old" lol! It was SO MUCH FUN :) I learned so much and it's stuck with me the past 30 years
I saw a video of somebody getting their colours done and the professional said that it is ok to not wear your colours. Just maybe not directly next to your face. Like you could still wear a black bag or black shoes or black pants and so on. Maybe that can help that you can still wear the colours you wore and liked before and not getting rid of clothes you like (Edited because of typos)
I think the reason you looked good (maybe even better) in your "worst" colours is because they were quite muted, while in your "best" colours, the colours were quite dark and saturated. I think you would absolutely look better in a soft blue or pink, compared to a bright orange, but you can still pull off a muted orange or brown better than a dark cool blue or purple for example. Saturation and vibrancy are at least as important as the tone and can make all the difference! Also, if you wear your "worst" colours on your bottom half, or as accessories, I think they don't impact your face all that much.
Yeah anyone can style themselves to be clashing, harmonious, quirky, subtle, etc. relative to their base look, their up or down dressed state, vintage or high or low fashion. These color schemes give a handhold and it's a cute coaching date to do, but fashion's always been way more complex.
let's also not forget personal taste. like my hairdresser told me black hair would make me look pasty, but like, that's the point, I want to be pasty, being in that gothic subculture.
Safia Nygared kind of explained it in her color analysis video: there are 4 seasons and easch one is devided to warm, cool and medium. There are also ppl that fall in-between pallets and some colors of a seasonal pallet that won't fit you. I think this meant to help ppl like Mia, who are kind of clueless about the colors that flatter them. I figured out myself what colors are the best for me
I had 2 cool analyses years ago and found it so helpful and a grounding guide since then. At first I took my swatches everywhere but eventually it becomes second nature to know what colors to avoid and which will be your best and so important, which you love and enjoy wearing. Ultimately, though I found myself attracted to black which isn't even in my Spring palette so, I guess, so much for the rules! I would totally recommend getting color analysis, brings things into focus and so fun, too!
That look was soo 80s vibes in the best way. The "bad" colors still look great on you, I disagree with her that it was easy to find your "bad" colors lol, i've watched you for years and always thought you look good in almost everything
Also the warm dress looks good, but it washes her face out. Her face looked ordinary and pale. All attention went to her warm dress, aka down the neck, not her face. She didn't stand out. While in cool dress all attention went to her face, not dress, it made her face and eyes pop, sparkle and lovely.
My mom got this done probably a decade ago and it gave her fantastic results. I refuse to do it because I refuse to not wear things I *feel* good in, regardless of how some "expert" thinks I look. All I avoid is yellow, and I'm very happy, as I generally am when avoiding perfectionism.
I do not 'fit' in yellow, but I adore the colour and have so many clothing pieces in yellow because it brings me joy to wear. 😂 But yeah, wear whatever you want, as long as you like it, doesn't matter.
As an asian with warm undertone my mom always said I good in yellow-orange family colors, but I HATE that family colors with all my heart lol 😂 I never wear it, all my clothes in those colors are T-shirt from childhood that still fit me
lol same. my whole wardrobe is green and black (green is my fave color, but mainly limited myself so i am only buying what i really love, everything goes together/can be mixed and matched, and it limits decision fatigue :)). anyway if anyone ever told me i didnt look good in green i would SOB forever lol. but i genuinely feel so good in my wardrobe, which ive spent a lot of time developing to best fit me and not what other people want/expect from me, and that i think makes all the difference. wearing what you love is going to radiate confidence and joy, which is ALWAYS going to make you look good, even if youre not in "your colors" :)
I think everyone looks best in whatever they feel best in. I remember seeing a documentary in the 1980s about this, where the interviewer went to four colour analysts, & she ended up with three different palettes. The right match of foundation sounds like a good way to go (I avoid worrying about that by not wearing makeup), but for the rest of it, you do you. The best part of your & Mama Maples looks are your fabulous smiles & twinkling eyes. 🩷🧡🤎
You should absolutely wear whatever you want. However, there are definitely colors that make you look more healthy and make your features "pop". You can't really see it until you sit in that chair and watch the change for yourself as the different colors get draped over you.
Although some people do it either for fun or because they’re really interested in it, I find it kinda difficult, just for the reason that you start to overthink about what you’re wearing and start to think, whether this or that might make you look pale or dark or not popping enough. I wouldn’t like to do a color analysis, considering the „fear“ of overanalyzing the colors and loosing the joy of experimenting, clothes and colors. Besides that, I personally think, if you’re attitude and confidence is right, might as well wear a potato bag and you would look hella hot in it 🔥
Same! I would just end up using everything i love, it really hurt me when she said Mia can't use black anymore bc who doesn't look good in black??? Girl! 😂
I actually did the colour analysis for fun in the colourlover lab app, and idk if it was me being biased but i got basically the colour i like the most to wear. I believe we do kind of know what goes well and what doesn't... if you want you can try it out, the app i mean
@@Sea_witch_I look bad in black, my hair is black so whenever I wear black I prefer for it to have a v cut or having no shoulders, so the black isn't too close to my face. If I wear black turtlenecks I prefer to take my hair out of my face.
When I had my color analysis done, she told me not to despair, of course I could still wear black… But I should really keep it to my lower half where it’s not near my face. And I can wear all my favorite colors on my lower half, but try to keep it away from my face. It made it more embraceable for me because you and I are opposites lol and we prefer opposite colors so we’re in the same boat.😂 Edit …PS… I love that last outfit! And I think you look fantastic in it! I think that color looks good on you
Yes to balance BUT I see the value in knowing your best colours because Mia really did pop with her "right" colours and so did Mama Maples. This really makes me want to do a colour analysis myself!
I see a big difference in how the cool summer colors flatter you. Your chin looks so much more defined in them and your skin looks really beautiful. I would love to see another video where you put together more outfits in that palette
They both look really great. You “blend” in more to your bad colors but still look good. Your good colors really make your skin tone and hair and everything pop out more and stand out and look more lively and you can see the different things that make up you.
both outfits/looks are great- but the cool summer is so much more vibrant and crisp, especially love the navy top and red lip with the contrast of your skin tone!
To tell the truth, the combination she made with the "right" colors is really beautiful and suits Mia, but I think it's not just about which tone suits you. It's about personality. No matter how "wrong" colors were called, Mia identified those colors with herself for years.Cottagecore, light academia or fairycore, mia's aesthetic. And she's happy wearing them. Personally, as someone who uses a lot of light and pastel tones in her life; People like cold and dark tones very much to me. I think the most important thing is to feel comfortable and like yourself in the clothes you wear.Anyway Mia you literally slayed girl 💫🌌🧎🏻♀️
Yes but it is more about the tones of those colors -- note how dark brown was her color but black was not. The point is **not** that you have to wear pastels versus not at all, but instead **which** tones to choose: is it more of a muted sage green or a light bright green? Either could give a similar aesthetic but one will make her pop. That's where the color theory helps -- so she can still do the light academia/fairycore vibes, but now she knows that choosing taupes instead of tans will make her face pop better due to the undertones! Hope that helps.
i recommend checking out a colour matching video Hannah Witton made with a colour analyst in London. Hannah also got a cool colour match, but she loves wearing oranges and yellows. But according to the professional, she doesn't have to stop wearing her favourite colours, because there are cool oranges and yellows! Also, she said that basically anything you wear as the bottom, doesn't count, because it won't really affect your face. Check out the video if you're interested, it's really helpful!
Hannah got a warm result in that video - she was Spring. The advice the lady gave her was to change to brighter oranges and yellows rather than the murky mustard-y ones that are more autumn
No. Julia, in a video analyzing Safiya Nygaard's color type, said that all colors expect orange can be cool and warm. Orange is the only color that can be only warm.
@@springtime000That's not true though. There are very much cool toned oranges. Any shade of orange with a high value for B using RGB colour codes is a cool toned orange because it has a large blue component.
I had my colours done 34 years ago it was life changing! I carried my colour swatches around like a bible at the start and gradually over time I learnt my colours off by heart. Now I can walk into a shop and from the doorway can tell what I need to look at. Hardest is shopping online, as colours are not always as they appear
I think she looks so much better in the warm. Like literally with every drape. I was trained decades ago in the four color Color Me Beautiful system so maybe it's different but I think she's definitely warm, and likely an autumn. That orange sweater is the bomb on Mia. She intuitively was wearing the right colors for her. The summer makeup is hovering on her skin. She's still beautiful, but it doesn't harmonize in the traditional sense.
you know what I think would be fun? you trying to buy the EXACT same outfits, but one in the "wrong" colors and one in the "right" colors. I think it would make it so much easier to see the difference!
Yes! THIS! I want this. Hard to tell when the outfits are so very different. Style changes things a lot!
agreed
YESSSS!!
Definetly this
I’d love to see this!
The comparison between your mom's best and worst outfits REALLY made a difference!
Yeah I agree! I think with both of them, I noticed the *outfit* on the less flattering colors. But I really saw *their beauty* when they wore the flattering colors. They popped instead of the clothes, basically.
@@AmaraJordanMusic that’s so true!!! I didn’t realize but I noticed the same thing.
100% What I came to say!
Totally
Absolutely AGREE!!!
Yes!
100% agree and I think your comment sums up the whole Colors thing.
It made her blue eyes pop.
I agree, but the "wrong" outfit's shape/ lines were much more flattering than the ones in the "right" colors.
Wow! In the "best" color outfit I was immediately drawn to Mia she just popped, but in the "bad" color outfit I was more so drawn to her outfit rather than her face. That is so crazy!
So true!!
I agree
THIS
ABSOLUTELY
agree!!!
i could hear mia’s heart stop when she thought Julia was saying she shouldn’t wear turtlenecks 😭
some things don't need to be said out loud 😂
See I would be able to take criticism at all lol and she’s brutally honestly
Poor Mia 😂🎉
I mean, at least it's not the first time she hears this, so the blow is a little softer 😅
Her face dropped .she was like nope this is a scam 😂😂😂😂 I’m never giving up turtle necks !
Exactly! 💯
that’s what i thought too, she should’ve used the same foundation but use “wrong colors” as her eyeshadow etc
And also the colors you feel most comfteble in is importent
That’s so true!
Yeah, I love the "bad colours". Monochrome looks just look cool no matter what, and that's basically what it turned out to he.
I actually liked the second outfit more, but loved the lipstick. I tend to wear black and darker colors
I think she is more of a neutral so oatmeal and beige are still good on her.
Mama Maples' comparison of her "good" and "bad" was a wow moment. She really shines in her color palette and looks so beautiful. It was harder to tell with yours because of the styling difference. I like the outfit of your "bad" colors so much and I thought it suited you. It would be interesting to see you in a similar style with your color palette.
mama's eyes popped so much, that's for sure
Mama Maples looked totally WOW in her palette!!
totally agree! The cool toned colour pallet gives her so much more depth and highlights her face more, she looked amazing in that outfit!
Totally agreed! She really shined in her ‘right’ palette! Gorgeous in both but really popped in her true summer
Here's the thing. She looks stunning in both but it is insane to be how much brighter and more lively she looked in her "correct" colors than her "incorrect" colors (I'm talking about in the side by side at the end specifically).
Totally agree.
Well she had a paler foundation on with dark vibrant colors of course she’s going to look bright
Your makeup in the "correct" colors really does look better. I know you think the eye makeup was a startling change, but it looked really nice.
Honestly expressing your personality through what clothes you like is so much more important than stressing over what hue matches your skin best
Exactly!!!
Exactly
I AGREE
I agree too! And I don’t think the cool tone eyeshadow was necessary!
Yess, if she recreated the same outfit with her correct colours too.
I was skeptical about the green eyeshadow with the red lips but man I loved it!! You totally popped in your “right” colors
Yeah I loved it too! The green eye shadow looked really, really good.
It really makes a difference for mama maples. She's absolutely gorgeous all the time, but her in the summery tones is vibrant, bright, and she pops.
Your makeup looks so much better in your correct colors! I kept getting mesmerized by your eyes, lips, and hair.
That is true, orange and blue are complementary, you can definitely do something with that.
Exactly, black jeans are fine because they're not right by your skin.
Yes, because the colors next to each other will change the temperature and tone of the colors they are next to. The dark black pants probably made the "bad" colored shirt and jacket look brighter and better on her.
Thiiiiiiss, there's a way to wear almost all colors, just need to figure out placement on the body and amount of a colour vs others (finding balance).
i think when it comes down to it, wear what you want. there are colors that are going to look amazing on you, and some that will wash you out. but if you truly love a piece don’t be afraid to wear it!💕
Precisely! Mia was bang on when she said that you still need to wear things that make you happy and make you feel good. Feeling good in your clothes is definitely most important, in my opinion!
Totally agree!! And honestly the lady would say “this washes you out” when it definitely didn’t.
Also, there's no need to get rid of black shoes etc. It's not doing anything when it's away from the face.
I honestly really like the outfit with your “bad colors” but mostly because of the style! I think if you styled a similar looking outfit with your “good” colors, you’d get the result you’re looking for :D
I would totally watch this video!
Color analysis is hundreds of years old. It became popular in the late 80s early 90s by Carole Jackson of Color Me Beautiful. Use your pallette for pieces next to your face. You don't have to get rid of black slacks & skirts. Have fun! 🌈
I’d love to see a collab between you and Safiya!
Was coming to the comment section to say this too!
Yes please !
YESS
I think they have done something together. I remember her showing up in a video a while back.
That would be so awesome!
Mama Maples nailed this experiment.
Both sets of her outfits/makeup were still very HER, and super cute in themselves. Her skin and eyes and hair completely glowed in her summer palette. Beautiful.
Mama Maples literally looks so much younger in her right colours vs her wrong colours.
She’s very pretty. Go, mom!
It depends.some people especially the cool toned look Green/grey/ sickly yellow in their wrong colors it's more obvious without heavy makeup
Just keep a cool-toned brown eyeshadow look. A bold lip and neutral eyeshadow is always a classier combo (than both bold). That lipstick is GORGEOUS on you.
Agree 100%!
It's so funny because I've just started watching her videos and have noticed right away which colours suit her because in each video where I think a colour washes her out or makes her look really good, she always sides with the colour I was against LOL. She looks so good in these red types of lipsticks and shirts and sweaters, but she hates wearing them.
Yup intense color on one or the other not both.
I love the idea of a cool-toned brown eyeshadow look. I think we often think of brown eyeshadow as boring, but it can look amazing
Obviously the worst colours didn't look bad, but the best colours definitely made you pop. I thought the lip colour especially looked amazing!
I agree 💯
I liked the wrong colors better as well!
I think it's because it wasn't a fair comparison. The "bad" outfit and makeup was just better in general 😅x
As much as i like the "bad colour " outfit, I still think Mia looked more fresh and radiant in her best colours. Her hair , skin tone , and eyes look brighter .
I am glad that at the end, you mentionned that it is also important to wear what you like and what you enjoy wearing. The color theory is interesting and can help you build your wardrobe, but ultimately, you just wear what makes you feel confident and happy.
okay now let’s get a stylist in there to make some cool summer fits out of clothes you already have
I had my colors done when I was about 16, now I'm 60. 😍👍
It relieves so much of the frustration when you feel when buying the latest fashionable colors and then looking drab.
I need this done just for lipsticks because about 90% I buy look awful on me and I end up never wearing them.
Like when Brad did his makeover on her I loved her look it really bought out her natural beauty
I think it would be nice if a personal stylist went with her for shopping.
Perfect
Cool orange is brown.
well, yes and no. every color can be more warm or cool toned, its the undertone (such as our skin) that determines that. so you can have orange that has a more blue undertone to it but it's not BROWN brown, it's just going to be more cool (and a bit more like a pinkish orange, bc colour theory), brown can be more cool or warm too. That's why you have bronzer (warmer) and countor (cooler), for example. of course: there's never going to be orange in her pallete, but she can play with colours and equal all the cool and warm things near her face mostly, the rest is fine @@cyan_the_uranian
Right!
Cool toned orange 🤝 warm toned pink
AKA Coral
Not gunna lie, I think the ‘unflattering’ colours still look amazing on you.
I 100% agree. I would say they look way better! It's all relative
However, a monochromatic green outfit, with a lighter green near my face could work well, or dark olive and a lighter warm orange
and/or gold ..
That’s so good to know! I love olive green, burnt orange and other colors that are not good, near my face. However, a monochromatic green outfit, with a lighter yellow-green near my face could work well, or dark olive and a lighter warm orange
and/or gold
Despite never ever ever wanting to wear blue or green eyeshadow myself, the cool toned palette looked awesome on you. This is the first time I've ever seen your Channel and I really enjoyed the video. It was really fun
Bam! That's why I carry yellow and orange purses!
Nope I disagree! The part of your body in the wrong color will look disconnected and your look will not be in harmony.
I agree! Color theory is fun, but at the end of the day, just wear what you like!
I'm a colour consultant who works with the same colour system and your colouring looks warmer to me. It's not typical for a cool season to have as warm of an eye and hair colour as you. Tyically, when someone trully has a cooler skintone and warmer eyes, they may be a more neutral version of cool
her hair and her skin tone clashes. idk if that's her natural hair color, but certain people don't look their best in their natural hair color.
Totally agree. Her blonde hair doesn't look cool for me at all
@@giselleskullington3932that isn’t her natural color (the analyst should’ve covered up her hair….) which is why it clashes, but no, everyone looks the best in their natural color in terms of color analysis. the entire point is to find colors that harmonize best with your natural coloring, so obviously your natural hair color will harmonize best with that because it literally is your natural coloring
I think paler warm complexions with pink surface coloration get mistyped as cool toned a lot :( I think she is a lovely autumn who got mistyped
It’s not her natural hair color… And she dyed after doing the analysis but didn’t said anything to the hair stylist. She said he could do what he wanted.
I feel like as long as you love the outfit and colors you’re wearing, you’ll always look good, it doesn’t matter what your palette is!
THIS!
The change was even more obvious with your mom. The good colors looked amazing next to her skin! Happy to hear she listened so well :D
I think the "bad" colors looked great on you
Same. I loved her second look and make up way more.
i def liked the outfit better but she looked a bit washed out
me too! i thought it really complimented her, while the "good" colours were too overpowering
I wonder if maybe I just hated the outfit of the "good" colors look. Wish she'd tried more outfits or something with less pattern.
@@erogers2687 I agree
I have said this before, but I love seeing your momma. She is such a ray of light. Thanks for having her on your channel so often!
You can absolutely tell the difference wow. Mama Maples needs to take her new color match theory as BIBLE cause wow did she look stunning in her matched colors vs all the brown dull colors.
Yes agree
That's so funny because I was thinking there was no difference
Mama maples looks so good in her correct colors it’s insane !! Mia you look gorgeous too but I think the difference in mama maples is huge
See.. I saw her looking amazing under both color palettes. I think she's one of those people & that can wear almost any bright beautiful color.
It just takes time to get there and that's why they say at first it's ok if you need to wear wrong colors on the bottom half.
mia never stop wearing the colors that make you happiest!! you and your mom always look amazing! :')
and you look great in orange especially!
Mama slayed her good colors! 🤩 If we had better pieces for mia's right colors, i think it would have turned out perfect as well, keep trying ❤
So true
The good color outfit was just plain bad, I feel like that outfit did her no justice with that pallette, the other outfit was just flatout cuter.
i really do think that we should be able to wear our favorite colors without thinking on ‘am i looking the best i can?’ if you feel like you are more yourself with warm pastel colors that’s AWESOME!! i think you look fantastic with your autumn grandma style, you rock mia!!!!🧡🧡
@@myownbravado same thoughts!! hahaha😆🌟
The green eyeshadow and fuchsia lip looked absolutely fabulous!
honestly both outfits looks great on you but i will say the "right colors" one does make your eyes and skin pop more, i think both are cute and you should wear what colors make you happy! this could be great to know for photo shoots for you though or something you know you need to look very bright and airy!
I actually really like her warm color version so much better, it feels like nature.

I don't care what she says, never let her take your pastels and autumns from you. 😭❤
I hate color analysis. I’m so sorry, just wear the colors that make you happy!
@@lilyjasmine743 agreed
@@katyb2793 completely agree!! Hope she sees this bc I think the pastels look amazing on her. I thought I was alone in not liking this color matching thing. I just feel you should wear what makes you happy. I think Mia has an amazing style n looks great in the clothes she chooses normally.
I actually LOVE your look in your "least flattering" colours! I think you look gorgeous and they make YOU shine, while the "flattering" colours are too overpowering. But tbh, you'll look great whatever colours you decide to wear - the most important thing is that you like the clothes ❤

Black shouldn’t be within her color palette, rather more charcoal.
I love how you matured. Your content no longer being about fast fashion, Hauls and make- up and that your good values and warm heart are now showing through even more. Plus you got not only a wonderful family, you got a husband who seems equally wonderful. Nice to still see you have fun.
Big hugs Mia.
What do you mean? I love Mia, but she still does fast fashion, hauls and makeup videos
Because with colors it is hard to change what you love, and i believe you can make everything work😂 but knowing your neutrals very useful when you are shopping for your basics to wear for work etc
P.S. shots with Mama Maples at the end so precious! And i loved the outfits 🥹
This is a great point!
The makeup in the “good colors” is stunningly gorgeous!!! That shade of lipstick is beautiful on you!! Mama Maples looks gorgeous too!! Love you both!!
The lipstick looked stunning!!!
Maybe that can help that you can still wear the colours you wore and liked before and not getting rid of clothes you like
(Edited because of typos)
I think the reason you looked good (maybe even better) in your "worst" colours is because they were quite muted, while in your "best" colours, the colours were quite dark and saturated. I think you would absolutely look better in a soft blue or pink, compared to a bright orange, but you can still pull off a muted orange or brown better than a dark cool blue or purple for example. Saturation and vibrancy are at least as important as the tone and can make all the difference! Also, if you wear your "worst" colours on your bottom half, or as accessories, I think they don't impact your face all that much.
Modern-day stylists say that these kind of colour schemes are outdated... I personally don't think we can put 8 bln ppl in 4 season categories 😮
Yeah anyone can style themselves to be clashing, harmonious, quirky, subtle, etc. relative to their base look, their up or down dressed state, vintage or high or low fashion. These color schemes give a handhold and it's a cute coaching date to do, but fashion's always been way more complex.
I believe Koreans colour analysts have more categories.
let's also not forget personal taste. like my hairdresser told me black hair would make me look pasty, but like, that's the point, I want to be pasty, being in that gothic subculture.
Tho tbh I am so bad at fashion this would at least *_help_*

@@nyct0phile "Wearing what you love is going to radiate confidence in joy." You NAILED it!
Definitely! 😊
You should absolutely wear whatever you want. However, there are definitely colors that make you look more healthy and make your features "pop". You can't really see it until you sit in that chair and watch the change for yourself as the different colors get draped over you.
17:12 YOU LOOK GORGEOUS IN YOUR “RIGHT” COLORS OMG
Although some people do it either for fun or because they’re really interested in it, I find it kinda difficult, just for the reason that you start to overthink about what you’re wearing and start to think, whether this or that might make you look pale or dark or not popping enough.
I wouldn’t like to do a color analysis, considering the „fear“ of overanalyzing the colors and loosing the joy of experimenting, clothes and colors. Besides that, I personally think, if you’re attitude and confidence is right, might as well wear a potato bag and you would look hella hot in it 🔥
honestly same, a personal colour analysis would make creating an outfit a stressful experience for me 😂
Same! I would just end up using everything i love, it really hurt me when she said Mia can't use black anymore bc who doesn't look good in black??? Girl! 😂
This 💯
I actually did the colour analysis for fun in the colourlover lab app, and idk if it was me being biased but i got basically the colour i like the most to wear.
It made it more embraceable for me because you and I are opposites lol and we prefer opposite colors so we’re in the same boat.😂
Edit …PS… I love that last outfit!
I would love to see another video where you put together more outfits in that palette
i just love when mama maples is involved ... it makes my day 1000 times better
(not that it's been good even but she does help a lot ) ❤ i love u mama
They both look really great. You “blend” in more to your bad colors but still look good. Your good colors really make your skin tone and hair and everything pop out more and stand out and look more lively and you can see the different things that make up you.
Seeing the different outfits on Mama Maples made a huge difference! She pops so much in that light blue top
both outfits/looks are great- but the cool summer is so much more vibrant and crisp, especially love the navy top and red lip with the contrast of your skin tone!
I agree, her personality is so sunny, the oranges and yellow suit her!!
yes!!! you look cute in whatever you like :)
@@chelsmeister yes actually you're right about that
i recommend checking out a colour matching video Hannah Witton made with a colour analyst in London.
