This is such a simple solution that it's awesome! Bravo! Simple = Better, and you DON'T permanently modify the existing figures adding accessories on this way!
It's a shame that I can't repeatedly add likes to this video!!! Amazing idea and even better results!!! You have outdone yourself on this one!!! And YES! I think Kenner did not come up with this idea, or else they would most definitely have done something like this to create a Sandtrooper!
So, I've been slowly putting together an original STAR WARS figure collection. Most of what I have is at least C7, with most being at a C8 level. I don't collect for monetary investment, but I do like to have decent, quality figures. That said, I also like to find beater figures sometimes to restore. I do this for my own amusement, or for friends. I like to do repainting, sculpting, etc , and I've always been a model builder and action figure enthusiast. That is why I really love it so much when you do a great video like this depicting a little customization! I absolutely do understand why hardcore Star Wars collectors are against things like customizing, reproductions, and so forth. I have to say: I like my original figures to have original parts, and be as original as possible, but that doesn't mean I'm against repainting an eye or eyebrow, or adding some paint to a figure's hair, etc. There's something that is just ultimately satisfying about bringing a figure back to its former glory! Your videos, Dave, pay testament to that! The idea of customizing an old, beater figure offers a lot of appeal to me as I don't see plastic figures (vintage or otherwise) as being sacred cows. I am a fellow who sticks by this line of thought: If I buy it -- pay for it out of my own hard-earned money, a figure/toy is mine to do with as I please, purists be damned. What I love about this particularly video, is that you have come up with an ingenious way to customize a vintage Stormtrooper figure without altering the actual figure in any sort of permanent way! Even purists can't argue with this approach. I like that it's an easy thing to do, and the look of the finished pauldron is very impressive. Thanks for another cool video!
Always inspiring. After having read that the whitening effect of the peroxide doesn't last long and the yellow returns, I checked a couple of my figures, and yes, after less than two years, the yellow is coming back. Your yellow army makes more sense now, there's no point in going back and forth, just accept them as they are...
I think short of painting the figures white and adding an anti-UV coating/lacquer I can't see HOW you're going to avoid plastic yellowing. They have plastics formulated now that DON'T yellow like this but they still use many white plastics that do yellow. It happens with about half the white plastic out there regardless of what it's used for. I had a vintage Transformers figure that yellowed as well as Gundam action figure from the early 2000s. Half the game controllers that are molded white also yellow. I bought two white PS3 controllers, one of them yellowed the other didn't! It depends half the time on the production run and the factory...
Very nice. Now they just need a black version of those vintage backpacks that I think were part of a mail-away accessory set. (And also came with the Rebel Transport ship.)
My childhood self always wanted some sand troopers! ToyPolloi you are awesome - and wow, this could be the basis for a follow up to Kenner's Survival Kit! That could be a cool mini series in itself as you make each item for Toypolloi's Survival Kit 2-the other accessories Kenner never made but should have: you took care of the Pauldron here, so maybe a Drinks tray for R2 on the barge, a Falcon ToolKit (for Chewie and Han to use inside and out of the Falcon), an XWing accessory pack (Snacks and droids recharge unit), and one thing I always really wanted for my Sensorscope R2: a snap on false front panel with utility arm sticking out since the body and sticker had no hope of such near possibilities back then! And I'm sure you have a gazillion ideas yourself! Love this vid!
From Kenner Star Wars: The Ultimate Force collection, the Imperial Stormtroopers are back and with shoulder paldrons! Each come with a variety of different colours. Just fit them on and get ready to patrol another planet! The new Imperial Stormtrooper Patrol figure pack with Individual Pauldrons from Kenner's Star Wars: The Ultimate Force collection!
That's impressive! When I first saw an image of your troopers wearing the pauldrons, I wondered if you had sawed off their heads. Yikes! They look great!
Thanks so much for a great idea. Watching your videos, I've been inspired to start my own army--but I live in New Zealand, and, man is it hard to find stormtroopers, new or used! Still the search is part of the fun. And I am definitely going to make these Pauldrons (which by the way, I never knew they were called.) Anyway, thanks again
Much to the horror of the vintage collecting elite, you can get bootleg vintage stormtroopers in new condition with a gun from a seller on eBay for about $7. I bought one out of curiosity, its actually quite good quality and would be perfect for army building if you aren't too worried about vintage authenticity.
very cool! Just thinking, wouldn't it be easier grabbing some coloured vinyl contact for the pauldron colour patches and cut out those instead of using double sided tape?
you come up with the coolest ideas Toy any thoughts about the falcon that has a lot of dead space i just got an original one with battery damage and was trying to think of something to dress it up a bit
I'm going to send this video to my brother. I think this would look excellent with his Dewback. I wonder if it would be possible to heat the second colored section to the other piece of vinyl without destroying it? I think this is a fantastic idea! Brilliant video as usual :D I was watching a video where James May was talking about Action Man, and then proceeded to shoot him. In the comments someone came up with the idea that there needs to be a new villain for action man called "Captain Slow". I thought this might make for an interesting custom figure.
I've just made one for a friend to put on his Dewback stormtrooper as well. It does look nice. I didn't enjoy that James May program. He didn't have any respect for such a classic toy and delighted in breaking as many as he could. Such a waste.
Hey Dave , Anoter great Video ! Like the Idea . 🖒 Do You have any M.A.S.K. toys ? could be interessting to us to see you restoring or customizing them ! Perfect toys for you they have a complex construction in the inside, ok ok some of them have 😁!! Keep up that awsome work !!! never gets boring in your vids .
I have one single mask figure. It's not a line I've ever got into. But maybe in the future it would be fun to do some videos on them. I'll keep an eye out for some cheap ones at the toy fairs.
If I've not upset them by now I'd be amazed. But this custom doesn't damage the figures at all and is in keeping with what kenner would have done. So what's not to like!
This is such a simple solution that it's awesome!
Bravo! Simple = Better, and you DON'T permanently modify the existing figures adding accessories on this way!
Good stuff, David. That's something that Kenner should most definitely have done back then, shame they didn't!
It's a shame that I can't repeatedly add likes to this video!!! Amazing idea and even better results!!! You have outdone yourself on this one!!!
And YES! I think Kenner did not come up with this idea, or else they would most definitely have done something like this to create a Sandtrooper!
I like how you went with official in universe pauldron colors
Red - commander
White - sergeant
Blue - sniper/sharpshooter
Love the new intro lol

Eventually, everything is meant to become one with the force..
Very nice. Now they just need a black version of those vintage backpacks that I think were part of a mail-away accessory set. (And also came with the Rebel Transport ship.)
Very clever design, I agree it looks like something Kenner would have done for sure, excellent job on this, looks very nice and has a pop on display.
Wow what a great idea. I love it, and now that I've seen it I'm surprised that Kenner didn't come up with it.
I love it when a plan comes together! What a great idea, and you clearly have the proper sense of what fits with this type of toy.

Always brings a smile when you use the A-Team intro! Keep up the good work!.
You're right - this is much more in keeping with the original Star Wars Kenner figures than the solid versions.
Very nice work on the vinyl pauldrons, both lore & scale friendly with the vintage Kenner StormTrooper '77
Finally, we can make the vintage Davin Felth we all needed.
I love how you stayed true to the times with using vinyl. great idea
Inspired thinking and implementation. Halloween inflatables might provide the orange vinyl you're looking for.
That is a fantastic idea and superbly executed
Great custom! Pretty incredible how a relatively addition really adds to the iconic look of the Imperial Stormtrooper.
all i can say is Wow,Dave, you never cease to amaze.......
I LOVED that intro.
Heck yeah, Dave! You're the toy extraordinaire! I could imagine a kid sending off proofs of purchase for them to Kenner/Palitoy
What a great idea! Good job Dave!
Brilliant idea! I agree vinyl is the way kenner would have done it, thanks for sharing
Best intro yet. Awesome!

Ill have to get you to write me some scripts for voice overs on my channel. You are much better at it than I am.
Really? I wouldn't boast or brag about it, but thanks. I thought they would make good toy commercial scripts.
If it hasn't been said, a cricket cutter could cut these out for you easily. Awesome video.
great idea, I've been working on my own solution, but I like yours.
Looks stock, and I'd definitely do a double take and think to myself, "when did Kenner release these?!" at a toy fair. Great job!
Excellent, you never cease to amaze👍👍
Since I own a few Troopers, this is a fantastic idea! My army is getting a makeover 😁
Great video! As always 👍🏽✌🏽
Great video as always Dave
you should get some of the new figures and make a few vintage sandtroopers out of them with the back packs and put some weathering on them.
Once again, awesome video!
That's impressive! When I first saw an image of your troopers wearing the pauldrons, I wondered if you had sawed off their heads. Yikes! They look great!
Not only are the pauldrons awesome, but I love the a team into!
This is awesome!
They are great Dave, i'll definitely be making myself 1 or 2 of these! * * * * *
Thanks so much for a great idea. Watching your videos, I've been inspired to start my own army--but I live in New Zealand, and, man is it hard to find stormtroopers, new or used! I have reviewed those a few years back. They are not too bad. But I still find I can pick up originals cheaper than that. It just takes patience.
i put up flyers in gas stations looking for old toys we have a local Lionel shop that will get star wars stuff occasionally and sell it cheep
Great videos
Always, very nice:)
Stoked to try one out!!
It's already made and waiting.
my brother and I made one for our troopers back in the early 80's using cloth and as simple as yours
With these Pauldrons, my dusty yellowed Stormtroopers instantly become Sandtroopers. Simple fix, no Hydrogen Peroxide required. Cheers!
wow creative, if it were me i wouldve painted the shoulder
Color of the pauldrons indicated rank, white for Sergeant. Blue for Lieutenant ext
very cool!
Just thinking, wouldn't it be easier grabbing some coloured vinyl contact for the pauldron colour patches and cut out those instead of using double sided tape?
Excellent!
you're on the money here mate, literally!! Keep up the good work :) (Lando cape please! quick! before his value shoots up 'cos of the new solo flick!)
The pattern is already on my website. I've not found a good colour match yet for the vinyl, so no video yet.
Toy Polloi wonderful! I’ll have a look and keep u posted. I may have a colour match here ;)
Great intro!
Nice!
Great idea the poldrons look amazing you should do can this power droid be saved
Thanks. That would be a fun figure to fix. I don't have one that needs repair, but will keep my eyes out for one.
Omg I was making shoulder pads for stormtroopers last week.
you come up with the coolest ideas Toy
any thoughts about the falcon that has a lot of dead space i just got an original one with battery damage and was trying to think of something to dress it up a bit
Thanks. I was thinking of doing something the next time I get a junked falcon in.
Mostra como criar uma para action figures de 12".
A-Team!
did you know that kenner made a prototype sandtrooper i saw it at a vintage star wars toy exhibit at a museum at leicester
I'm going to send this video to my brother. I think this would look excellent with his Dewback. I wonder if it would be possible to heat the second colored section to the other piece of vinyl without destroying it? I think this is a fantastic idea! Brilliant video as usual :D

Orange ones would be good for those yellowed and dirt encrusted troopers that refuse to come clean
They would. I've made a few in various colours now and added them to my army. It makes them look really nice.
Hey Dave ,

Do some .svg files. Automated cutters are so common these days
Love the new intro but LEGO is a mass noun so the plural either stays LEGO or becomes LEGO bricks or LEGO pieces ;-)
Depends on who you ask :D I say Legos, so Legos it is.
Should I ever find a repro Kenner stormtrooper, I would pick up these pauldrons and give these figures a Snowtrooper rifle.
Da da da daaa.... da da daaa..... da-da da da daaa... da da-da daaa...
What a great idea.......although you are going to upset the yogurt knitters improving a classic figure 😳
If I've not upset them by now I'd be amazed. But this custom doesn't damage the figures at all and is in keeping with what kenner would have done. So what's not to like!
Also by the way, using a killer whale seems oddly appropriate :}
I imagine there cards looking all wrong
