oirs was a magnesium fram, alu deck unit. it had that foot basket you have. got new gaskets and tires from a hoarding used dealer in the carolinas thru their ebay shop
Very fun project. I just got another old A5 running! I suspect your transmission is actually in 3rd gear. If that passenger side shifting rod got bumped backwards, it'd prevent the side that currently has the lever in it from moving. Try pulling that middle shift rod towards the front of the vehicle and see if it clicks into a middle (neutral) position even with the shifting lever. I had to pry mine back out with plastic bar after testing this theory.
