Battletech (everything) is a long-established, dedicated community. The core isn't going anywhere, and it's that devotion - not the game quality - that's kept MWO alive. Which isn't a bad game, though not perfect either. There's simply no other option for the Battletech fans, so they keep coming back. Warts and all, there's literally no alternative out there with the same unique experience.
MWO is a pretty great game. PGI just had rough calls at times as they experimented with different things that translated to frustration for players and they lost a huge chunk of the player base as a result but yes there are people that hung on and for people just joining now, it's a great time and a great game where it's at now. I'm really happy to see where it's at as someone who started in 2017.
@@myname-ns1rppretty great? Everything except the combat is mediocre at best. @@captainbean3114 I'm just saying, alongside the standard 12v12 no respawns there could be other game modes with added mechanics. Instead of War Thunder it's just World of Tanks

Was an arty strike that hit you in the back in the last game. You can see the smoke come up here: 39:52. LtPoohPants has uploaded that game, too. Nice to see both perspectives. Very entertaining game btw.
I played MWO when it was released (had the low-tier founder package with the Jenner). It's weird hearing people talk about the game having had a long life, and having failed to live up to its potential due to having taken too long to get the polish that it needed. I have to admit, in those early days, after maybe two months of ultra boring battles where people just hid from LRMs every match, and all the time spent farming C-Bills for new variants of mechs I already had... I quit. I didn't keep up with new mechs and weapons and maps and improvements and whatnot, so I was never tempted to come back to the game. And it really does feel like it's getting close to the end of its life, which doesn't exactly make me want to come back, even if I knew I could get my account back. Maybe if it had been better at release, it would have been super popular instead of being kept alive by a small but highly dedicated playerbase.
Timberwolf's will always be GOATed for me in the games. Even if they aren't the best of the best for every scenario, it's iconic. Like a 911 or Ferrari. Just have to drive one.
I think this franchise will always have a fanbase. It is the premier place you go to if you want stompy robot tank action. I do however think it's an aging fanbase, and more could be done to pull in new generations.
I love watching these longer format vids. Not only for the excellent build breakdowns, but seeing the teamwork on these....jealous AF for real. We had 4-6 that could jump on a few times a week, but thats down to 2 of us due to RL issues...random games are more often than not frustrating as all get-out. Oh well, is what it is! Keep the vids coming guys!
Still loving your timby howl build with dual LBX20 to just shotgun down their throats with MASC. A timby going 109 with jump jets and that much firepower on a heavy is a sight to behold! I dont really like to talk about paid mechs, but it's just given me an opportunity to really enjoy the Timby with my exact play style of fast armor brawler. First $15 i ever spent in the game since playing for absolutely free for a few years. Warranted.
Nice build. I used the same build for a long time, but currently I have it built out with all MP lasers, which I am having fun with, just lacks the range a bit. Having the build overview and explanation at the start of the video is nice too. Thanks for the video!
I love this format of video with the explanation of what you take on the build and why. These types of videos helped me a lot when i was first starting out to learn what things work and why they work across several different builds.
Love the laser timby. After falling in love with the C variant that was an event reward a while back I decided I'd grab the hero variant for the cbill boost, 5% dissipation, and 4 armor that its CT gets. After skilling the thing up I realized there was no viable way to add a JJ other than buying an entire third mech. There's just so much value in flying around that a few percentage points of DPS and range (can run a Tcomp with the freed up ton) can barely hope to compensate for.
Fun fact you can get a bit more efficiency out of laser vomit with the warrant. So technically this is the second best build, but probably first in free to play
Yeah, you have to forgo the CT jump jet. Cant do 8 energy hardpoints, ECM and JJ without doing the S CT. Would definitely say the positioning allowed by the S makes it superior. Warrant does have the advantage of 4 CT armor, 5% dissipation, and one ton freed up over this build.
@@stormthrush37 ECM reliance is a crutch anyways. I strongly reccomend learning to play without it, especially if you want to do comp. Besides good positioning and map awareness is far more important
I'm a simple man: I see a Catapult with arms, I hit like. My fave TBR build is the BH So8, full on pulse laser shenanigans. The 6x MPL + LRM30 + ECM build is kinda funny too :D
Hey Phil, I'm pretty sure this is the most well known build for this mech. I refer to it and a few others as the Sean Lang build. I wanted you to look up this player and see if you think there is something nefarious. Chaotic Neutrality
Wouldn't say the best but probably the most reliable. Swap out a few mls and put on a hag 20. Use the 3 laser shoulder mount for large pulses and a med. Fill in thr rest.
Really with they would change the posture of the mech to bring its arms forward, which would effectively raise the arms a bit. That way the hardpoints are higher, and the arms might actually cover about half of the side torso.
think I drop a HS for a TC1 with this. any variant with an energy slot in CT will work for x3 ERLL x6 SPL as well; no real impact from ghost heat on the triple ERLL
21:00 -ish... To be fair, some of the community has returned, see The B33f putting out new MWO videos as well as Baradul again playing of late. But yeah, still late late in this game's life at this point.

Are you seriously complaining about a paint scheme that you literally can't see during gameplay because the game is in first person? Talk about stupidly petty.
