No it's about God. He's saying if God isn't real then nothing else matters. And if God isn't here he doesn't wanna be here either. Sam said so in an interview
Every1luvzME I saw the interview. I honestly think the song is way more complete without having restricting it to one line of semantics, but while were at it, why would a gay man believe in God, and what's with the evolution references? Those are two things that really puzzle me. He may have said it's a bout God for his fans, so he wouldn't lose more than half his listeners.
I think the references to evolution are the argument for god not being real because if we evolved from apes then God couldn't have created us and so the rest of the bible is false meaning God isn't real, hence "if you're not even here".
Billy Boreham The fact evolution is true negates Genesis, that says all animals and living beings were created, yeah. Genesis got a lot of things wrong, including the time animals needed to evolve(a day?!), the order in which the animals formed(birds first evolved in the Jurassic period and land animals in the Carboniferous period, some 100 million years before, while the Bible puts birds and water creatures in the 4th day and land animals in the 5th - WROOOONG!). Even if the days of creation weren't literal days(which is also a position you cannot defend), the order of the events would still be patently wrong. What Sam said, if fish grew legs and got out the ocean, that's what happened, basically. All life came from the sea, to the land, then partly back into the sea, then onto the sky. All living creatures evolved from sea animals, and, if you want to be more subtle about it, because there was a huge extinction in the Permian period, most of the living beings today descend from the 4% animals that survived that extinction
So underrated I swear all these pioneers were wayyy ahead of there time if they did it when the internet was popping so much better music would be wining awards
This song was ahead of its time. One of the rare songs that doesn't age.

All living creatures evolved from sea animals, and, if you want to be more subtle about it, because there was a huge extinction in the Permian period, most of the living beings today descend from the 4% animals that survived that extinction
thanks for clearing that up
