One time I bought a pet rabbit while I was manic. It's cool tho cause he's pretty chill and he actually helps me when I'm depressed. Taking care of him gives me motivation to get out of bed on the days where it's really bad. I've managed to train him to use a litter box and I'm working on the transition from the cage to being a free range pet. He also encourages me to eat healthier because I always keep fresh veggies in the fridge for him. I end up munching on them too. I never thought a little bunny could do so much for me.

I really want a tarantula for similar resasons. Reading and watching about them during a hard time in my life made them special to me. I'm scared of them. Definately. ..but most hobbyists were terrified at first then end up with 100 tarantulas and or other exotic creatures. The tarantula studies just help me escape during the time I was suffering.
Bunnies. ..not my thing but I'm super glad your friend helps you....so cute.

Sometimes I'm so low I can't face the world and cover myself in my duvet but guess who's right by my side, Charlie my little ray of sunshine! I have so many mood changes in one day, it really scares me sometimes. Keep smiling people and fight a good fight!!🐾👍

ZeroGHome24 I had a service dog for many years and don’t know what I would’ve done without the companionship. When I lost him, it was like losing a personal caretaker or a child. Especially with how much I really depended on the dog for part of my mental balance. I have two cats now, which is definitely not the same, but they bring life into my home when I really need it and I’m so grateful for them! I’m so glad you have a furry friends like that. Dogs are absolutely brilliant!

I have had bi polor for many years. I t is so important to eat a balanced diet. One thing I now do every day is take a large protein drink the sort body builders have. I also take multi vitamins plus iron and fish oils. Also magnesium. This does not get rid of the constant tiredness we suffer but does make it less. You will not feel the benefit right away . It takes a few weeks . It must be done every day.

I tried magnesium to see if it helped my depression. It does. I have to increase my magnesium during the winter. Doesn't resolve the problems, but I don't have to feel bad about them while not being numbed like the psych drugs do. Most all magnesium works for me, but I have had to switch brands here and there because of stomach and elimination issues. I take three tablets a day and I have added one more for this winter. I suffered depression for 60 years and now I don't. Wish you well.

Thanks for this video you just said what I whas going trough the last time I reacted on your channel and why I removed my reaction the first time and didn't react anymore. I did watch your earlier video's to and acted like you said, stop hurting the people that whe love or in this case other people on this channel. I got really upset by the reaction of this guy who seemed to know more about me than I do myself. I had a drinking problem like 14 years ago and he keeps saying that I am living in denial and it hurts to be confronted with this everytime. I also got a real bad back injury and I tried for over a year to live without these pain killers but I couldn't do anything anymore I just got more and more depressed even after the operation and several injections in my spinal cord. Does this make me an addict? What about my children if I can't even go out for a walk anymore? Sometimes it's easy to say learn to live with chronic pain. I whas lucky that my GP and the professor that performed the operation realised this because I really couldn't go on like this. Now I am able to cook go for a walk with my dog and care for the people I love.

    When I feel good....then I feel good!
Having a Chronic illness( Chrohns and leg amputation) I don't feel well alot..so my depression gets worse. When I physically feel well...I psychologically feel better...pain is a big factor because it tires me and I can't do things I want to.
    Head n body go together.

This is so true. I believe it takes about 3 months to reprogram our brains.
I learned this in therapy and was recently talking to my boyfriend (he has bipolar) about it.
I used to constantly call myself down. Through spoken words and in my head. My therapist told me to start arguing with that voice. Whenever I caught myself having those thoughts I started to force myself to say no, you’re NOT stupid (or whatever) and start listing some good qualities I have instead.
It DOES feel stupid at first and you don’t think something so simple will ever work. Slowly though, it starts to feel more natural and eventually…IT just becomes the new voice!
I almost completely stopped having those thoughts and when I do now, the other voice immediately intervenes and starts arguing the negative :)
It does take some time but it’s actually pretty amazing to look back once you’re on the other side. Just to realize the impact something so small can actually make.

Thank you for another great video. I have a loved one who is struggling and I am trying to be proactive in her personal battle, even if she is not aware of it yet.
I always knew that people who are afflicted with this disorder are sent to this plane by our Creator to overcome the current belief system in order to help others grow and become the best beings they can be in order to help and uplift other human beings in the same dilemma. I think those who do not face bipolar disorder daily are the ones who are genuinely the ones who are disordered as they can't grasp the full life experience until ALL raw emotions have been spilled.
It is so good to see you have arrived at your purpose and I am so thankful that you are here for people like me who would have no hope for a meaningful future with our loved ones who are currently affected by bipolar disorder.
If I can find the way to bring my shell of a person loved one back to her true life's purpose, I promise that I will give back to others in my same situation to repay the debt I have incurred.
Maybe we, sufferers of the disorder and those concerned about them, have all been deemed strong enough to complete the task at hand and when victorious over the bipolar adversary, we are then able to provide proof to those who are still lost that a path to harmony does exist.
Thank you again for ALL that you do! (Admitted note taker here. Lol)

Thank you so much! And knowing exactly where you're coming from with this message, I'm so proud of how far you come. The strength it takes from one self is amazing from a Polar Warrior. And yes, one voice can change the world of those with mental illness and without a doubt you are my best friend now. A blessing that shows me how to turn the negative into a positive and apply. I'm still searching as I am a white belt as far as defense and I made a promise. One promise that I will keep to inspire everyone and the children coming up facing bipolar disorder and severe depression that I will not do the deed of suicide and in my words.. Weve heard that saying" I would die for you" right? Well that's easy. The way out I get it. But now I say to the good people, I will live for you! And yes, it brings responsibility and focus even though dreadful at times. God bless all that took their own lives as I've lost friends crashing on meth. Yes the dope, the drunken buffoon, pillhead, pothead and etc. We know the names they call us at these religious gatherings. But that's not right as I have looked at the real issue and not a spiritual bully to grab a tissue. God loves us all and encourages treatment for our mental illness. I never partied a day in my life but I self medicated everyday. Thanks my friend for this counceling session. I hope to shake your hand one day. I'll shut up now. Love you all here. It's a beautiful day. Laugh

Aaaaamazing I recently found this channel and I am soo grateful for your thoughtful insight. I have trouble with explaining and forced explanations are rarely helpful especially if I'm symptomatic. So being able to share your videos with a few clicks and put it directly into the hands of those I care to interact with! If you have someone that suffers with bi-polar disorder and the relationship is important to you? Educate yourself on the way to support your friend before, during and after a manic episode or depressive period. It will be huge for the future of the relationship. I realize that not everyone is willing or able to deal with me in those situations. I would rather not have to be responsible for other people's feelings. Especially when they are insecure and extra sensitive. They are not usually equipped to handle any feelings apart from their own and the sometimes aggressive behavior is to much to handle. Thanks for your help shedding light on this rather dark and often hidden part of ourselves. It has been awesome listening to your gentle voice and the acceptance this platform provides.

this connection makes me feel a cry, without the tears. I feel like i am fighting this fight alone. you show me that we are not alone. thank you for sharing your understanding of your own misery, and your own path of self discovery. i do feel empowered by it, and feel as a result of watching just the past two months, that i can do it also. i am not okay right now, but i have no choice but to handle myself, and overcome this low, and my mania just recently landed me 250 miles from home and everyone i know, but i take this strength knowing that you have maybe felt similar, and your understanding will give me encouragement to keep fighting this monster inside of me. acknowledgement has given me power, thank you. i may actually call this last psychiatrist who dumped me about some medicine soon, even tho i fear another memory lapse of multiple months, masochism, and detached participation all the while swallowing and hiding the pain. its getting out of control, becoming so hard to hide, especially when i ask WHY HIDE FROM WHAT DOESN'T CARE or isn't concerned, especially when no matter how much noise i hear, see, feel, experience, the monster eats me alive

Michelle Angers wow - thank you so much! When I was struggling and looking for videos about bipolar disorder, it was amazing what I found... it was either someone talking about a textbook definition of what bipolar is, or someone talking about how crappy their life is. It was amazing to me how unhelpful TH-cam was, when it is usually my go to for information. That’s one of the reasons why I started this channel… I wanted to help fill a very obvious gap in information out there. I can’t believe how fast the channel has grown and it feels so good to help people. Please continue to stop back by anytime :-)

~word for word you have just said EXACTLY how I feel! I hate, hate hate this illness. 1000s of Distractions. Paralyzing depressions for too many days on end. Right now I've got you on you tube, and my t-v is on --and I'm using my tablet at the same time. Keeping myself in the moment doesn't exist in my world, the many things you are suggesting to help are things I've tried myself. My mind goes into the negative and I become stuck in the past, but only the negative past. TY for helping us, making sense. TY-TY-TY what you are saying makes sooooo much sense and I can totally relate.

I love watching your videos, they are a good reminder of the things that can help me (and all of us) manager our bipolar.
When you mentioned kind of forcing yourself to physically smile as a way to feel better, it reminded me of a book I read by Louise Hay, I believe it was called "Mirror Work". She describes a very similar exercise of spending time each day looking at yourself in the mirror and reciting uplifting messages--affirmations.

Thank you for your videos. I prefer your videos than highly technical videos done by psychiatrist. I feel there is hope. I can see a glimmer of hope. I just got diagnosed as bipolar for 2 weeks now. I suffered and survived major depression for 8 years. It is still new being diagnosed as bipolar and I am still in shock. But, I am putting a lot of effort in understanding this cruel disease. Thank you so much.

Terrific video -- your positivity and strength are helping me get better and get through my day. I do want to get better and as someone with bipolar I who struggles with negative thoughts, I had a breakthrough yesterday where I could finally feel, after 40 something years of struggling, that I love myself. Watching your videos increases that love and I thank you for the care that you're giving to us, your viewers. I hope that you have energy today and every day to do all that you desire. I'm utterly grateful. Salud!
