One thing I loved about the St Vincent model when I tried one was how unexpectedly comfortable it is to play. As odd as the shape seems, it doesn't FEEL strange at all sitting down.
Luke's story of the day his dad bought him a guitar brings me to tears every time. That Damage Control riff brings back G3 memories, that outro solo is just amazing!
Toto were top flight studio guys and played on tons of tracks before releasing their own stuff as "Toto". Luke played on a TON of Quincy Jones tracks in those days.
@@scottydog62Availability is extremely limited here in the UK, at the time I got mine Andertons had one white on in stock and GuitarGuitar had 1 blue one, that was it in the whole of the UK. I have a whole story about how I got mine: th-cam.com/video/CJQfYZkCglE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LZ7RlTxzMdByTIpJ
I love that you considered the color of the nut. Black is clearly the color needed. I had my guitar tech cut out a new nut in black corian and I did final shaping and polish and my tele with oxidized carved paisley pick guard and ash tray pulls the eye to both ends of the guitar at the same time! I salute your choice on blk!!!!! A fan!
The No. 1 thing you will notice when playing a Luke for the first time is how low and flat the frets are. No one ever mentions that in demos either. Definitely try before you think about buying one online. I was totally surprised when I first played one.
So Very Cool, Thankyou. Amazing to have Rabea back, Man his playing is SO Awesome. And just his 'personality' is so amazing. I would love to see more Rabea and Pete together again ...... maybe my 2 favorite Guitarists and both awesome 'Blokes' too. Champions. I have an Entry Level Sterling by Music Man Sub Silo3 in The David Gilmour Black with white pickups. OMG may be my favorite 'Strat' Style Guitar. The asymmetrical cut maple neck is slimmer on the treble side and thicker on the bass side and is just a pleasure to play for me. All The Best. Cheers
The " Beat it " riff was MJ's - Who sang it out to Steve in the studio (as he did all the riffs n parts to the musicians) - Lukather himself said in the Beato interview...
I first saw Dream Theater in Glasgow at the Cat House club way back. John knows what a Glasgow Kiss is! Congratulations Bea, you're earned it and you belong there. And well done Lee and team for championing his talent.
I think a lot of these are available in their Sterling by music man division. Still not cheap or my idea of a budget price but they’re comparable to the electromatic range from gretch prices 500-1100
So glad to have Rabea demoing these great guitars. He's adept with and loves so many styles of guitar music. If all we get demoed is blues, edge of breakup, and maybe some begrudging boomer rock or country... we don't have all the info about how versatile a guitar is (or isn't). I always prefer the channels that put a guitar through its paces, end enjoy doing so.
Music is music, it matters not if its from youtube, a coliseum, a smokey bar room, or a garage. A vibration of strings that stirs the soul. A sound to inspire, and a sound track through life's good times and bad. You are a musician and that is something to be proud of.
Steve Lukather was & is a very sought after union member session guitarist, it was his bread & butter before, during and after his time in Toto, Toto was actually born from session players meeting in gigs & forming the band.
Hey Lee & Rab…Fascinating to hear you and Warren talking about Music Man in your store walkabout video this week, Lee…Particularly how they're small and comfortable so players that discover them feel more 'classic' guitars feel unwieldy, when going back to them!…Yet Rab, as he says, is a larger chap and still loves them. Now even more tempted, as a smaller man, I have to say…BTW Jakko's PRS vid this week is fascinating re piezo a pickup but his guitar has two separate outputs…Should Music Man consider doing the same?
Steve Lukather didn't write the Beat It riff, MJ sang it to him and he played it. And EVH's solo was already recorded. He says so in Rick Beato's interview
Great video. Love to see artists impressions of the other artists guitars. The Kaizen is my fave followed by Majesty close 2nd. I love how innovative the Kaizen is, total blast to play and the tone is NUTS
I own both the Luke III BFR and Majesty BFR. They're, without a doubt, the best guitars I've ever had. What I like the most is the playability and confort they provide, encouraging you to play more.
The guitarist in that new band that is everywhere at the moment, The Last Dinner Party, uses the St Vincent guitar a lot. She's obviously a bit of gearhead. Interesting band. Should get her on Captain Meets sometime.
Not familiar with James Valentine but his guitar tone was my favorite easily! Also Frenzied Flame and Vileblood! Possible my 2 favorite games of all time, i love it!
Michael Jackson wrote the riff to Beat It, Luke just played rhythm guitar and bass, originally through big Marshall's but Quincy Jones wanted it to be played across all radio genres so I think it's just a modded Fender deluxe. Toto are all over the Thriller album, everyone should listen to 'em!
Luke and Toto is one of my fav bands and many people dont know the 1000s of songs Luke helped write or play on. St Vincent is very much a new fav of an artist who stretches the guitar limits
This dude's ML3 Pro is excellent. I cant believe its still available after all these years, but people are sleeping on it. It was expensive initially, but compared to these Sabres, they're a steal. Quality made at WMI.
The St Vincent sound and look like Firebird PU. You can only get that chime with blade magnets inside the bobbins . HB's mini PU have just one PU flat across the base of the bobbins
I think steve may have been the one who asked eddie to play the solo. Pretty sure I heard that somewhere. i could be wrong though :)). Awesome vid btw. Love it whenever Rabea comes back on
I think i said this before elsewhere, but it's wild to me that the Kaizen's idea was "let's pull out all the stops and make the most modern guitar possible", but it's still made of wood, and it's still a bolt on neck with not that much of a recess. Call a spade a spade, it's just a Tosin signature model from a company that's not his own.
@@mrfacephone Oh, I wasn't taking about him losing anything. I was talking about his gains. You can tell he's in the gym and bulking up. Rabea, Petrucci, and Abasi are all looking pretty in shape 🏋️💪
The people complaining about the headstock, frets, colours, neck profile, and tone seem to have wandered in here from a Fender video? The whole point of these guitars is to address elements of existing brand models that the signature artists wanted to change.
Dude Suspended Animation is great. I like the live versions of the songs from the G3 tour. There’s a breakdown soloy part from Glasgow Kiss that is different from the album
SV signature is designed to resemble a dress. It reminds me of The Jetsons. But anyway....she said it's a dress. I love the design. Hope to own one some day.
I was once told by a man I trust that Steve was struggling to come up with a solo and that Van Halen were rehearsing in the same building, so Steve went and asked Eddie if he could have a go at recording a solo on the track. Apparently Eddie was pretty drunk but the solo was still recorded in one take. for all I know this is Chinese whispers but it sounds kind of believable to me.
Luke didn't write the "Beat It" riff; he played it and played the bass. Toto was basically the rhythm section and Eddie played only the solo. Steve and Eddie were great friends so this wasn't a difficult issue.
One thing I loved about the St Vincent model when I tried one was how unexpectedly comfortable it is to play. As odd as the shape seems, it doesn't FEEL strange at all sitting down.
I’ve played a full bore Albert Lee model one time, and had that exact experience. Became one of my most favourite and listed after models after that.
The pickups remind me of Firebird units...
Dying to try. The only EBMM model that interests me remotely
the st. vincent is a really polarizing guitar, glad to see that it gets some love in the video and the comments.
I bought myself a Valentine from Anderson’s during lockdown. Absolutely killer guitar that certainly made staying indoors more fun!
Luke's story of the day his dad bought him a guitar brings me to tears every time. That Damage Control riff brings back G3 memories, that outro solo is just amazing!
In Rabea's hands these guitars look like childrens toys. how big are his hands?! damn!
Rabea is a big dude
Toto were top flight studio guys and played on tons of tracks before releasing their own stuff as "Toto". Luke played on a TON of Quincy Jones tracks in those days.
The entire BEAT IT rhythm section (basically everything except the solo)
Rabea trying new gear became my fav section of the channel especially blindfolded
Recently bought the Music Man Mariposa in Imperial White from Andertons, absolutley bloody love the thing, hard to pick up other guitars now.
Those Mariposa's are awesome looking guitars, I would have a hard time picking which color I would want I'm not rich enough to buy all of them😅

Always love for Music Man!
Couldn't be happening to a cooler dude Rabea. ONE OF the giants... Cheers.
I love my St Vincent!❤🎉
I can confirm Kaizen statement. My dad worked for Toyota and he was the “Kaizen Leader”. Worked on standardization improvements
Rabea’s tone is always on point. Bravo!

27:02 - did the Cap overstretch himself there? 😂
I like how Rabea has learned to subtly turn up and down the volume knob with a toe
While they are all out of my budget range, Music Man just really does beautiful guitar designs.

I think St. Vincent said the inspiration for the body style was Klaus Nomi, who collaborated with David Bowie and wore outfits in shapes like that

St Vincent pickup selection:
1: neck & bridge
2: all 3 pickups
3: neck
4: middle
5: bridge
The normal ones have that pickup selection, but Goldies have the conventional Strat-style 5-way selection.
Steve Lukather was & is a very sought after union member session guitarist, it was his bread & butter before, during and after his time in Toto, Toto was actually born from session players meeting in gigs & forming the band.
Rabea's middle-aged and Petrucci's bulked-up, Lee starting 2024 off strong 😂

Spot on. And we also know Denny Jaeger composed the intro to Beat It... And received zero credit for the composition (as simple as it was).
Rabea is a tone chaser... love his playing

Are these Elden ring references? I’m about it. Nice job Rabea and Ernie Ball
Music Man are lucky to have such an incredible guitarist like Rabea

I'd love to see you cover Albert Lee's various signature models, especially given how great your Captain Meets video with him was.
Well howdy 🤠 coming from the far western USA 🇺🇸 Arizona at that !
I have the same reaction to Rush as Lee! Well, it's always a matter of taste!
Aw man, the nostalgia from the Hooded Man theme!!!

Now I want to go play my Majesty, but that would require me to get out of bed...and my alarm hasn't gone off yet. 😆
Bea’s Back! Love it
My favorite MM models will be always the Axis Van Halen, Steve Morse and Kaisen/Abasi.
We need the old guard back - Lee, Pete, Rob and Bea.
Rabea's resolution should be to just keep doing what he's doing. He looks in shape and great! 🤙
I was actually thinking it was looking like he was putting a bit of it back on.
@@mrfacephone Oh, I wasn't taking about him losing anything. I was talking about his gains. You can tell he's in the gym and bulking up. Rabea, Petrucci, and Abasi are all looking pretty in shape 🏋️💪
Gotta say, the Petrucci guitar has a sound that resonates with me. The choice of pickups just gives the guitar THAT sound. Great for all genres.
Bea's playing is as great as ever.
Your hair looks great on stage!
amazing instruments, fantastic innovations
Interesting that 2 of the best smaller American guitar companies (Music Man and G+L) owed their birth to the late great Leo Fender.
Bea sounds like Bea on whatever guitar he plays. Cool to see him play a St. Vincent and still sound like himself :D
Sounds great 👍

Frenzied Flame and Vileblood, someone must be a Fromsoft fan
9:45 this sounds AMAZING!! what a tone!
Tosins first album was done with a Pod HD (the black rack version) i believe
Would love a MM, but they have a woeful lack of left handed models to choose from. I'd buy an Axis in a heartbeat yet sadly have to live in hope.
Very nice
love the nod to fromsoft
LTE is wonderful. Hope more people check it out

I have never tried a music man guitar but would love too.
The necks always look a tad narrower than normal, is that right ?
A TH-cam guitarist? I feel offended for you. That said, this was a fun video! Great playing as always, an inspiration!
Steve Lukather. What a man. If its an L3 the pickups are dimarzio transitions, on the new one theyre musicman
I was once told by a man I trust that Steve was struggling to come up with a solo and that Van Halen were rehearsing in the same building, so Steve went and asked Eddie if he could have a go at recording a solo on the track. It's funny how Rabea never seems the slightest bit self-conscious playing guitar until he's playing his own artist model.
The St. Vincent reminds me of the Eastwood Airline
I remember trying to learn Glasgow Kiss, yeah that didn't work out to well..
Luke didn't write the "Beat It" riff; he played it and played the bass. Toto was basically the rhythm section and Eddie played only the solo. Steve and Eddie were great friends so this wasn't a difficult issue.
Hell yeah Rabea!
I agree with you about RUSH Lee. As much as I like the songs I can't listen to Geddy Lee for long before I have to turn it off.
Wow, any tabs for the Women of Ireland intro??! 😊
St Vincent inspiration for the guitar body was a dress... I think I watched something back when she released this guitar
I nearly bought a Kaizen 7 but with tax it was going to be $4400. Incredibly good guitar but these prices are getting so hard to keep up with.
If Rabea doesn't get a FromSoft soundtrack gig, there's no justice on earth.
They should make a model for Eric Gillette. He is incredible, been playin jp models forever
You’re right about the smell of the necks. I hope I can get Bea’s guitar. $4k is a lot. But worth it.
When will bea’s model be available?
Pretty sure Steve's guitars are loaded with Dimarzios, those pick ups are little underrated imo, they sound fantastic to my ears.
Music Man pickups now, he did have Dimarzio's and they are indeed great
