  • These guitars have something seriously special about them. I wanted to make this video to shed some light on the interesting history and little-known details behind Music Man and their Cutlass line of guitars. These things are NO JOKE! But you won't know until you try one ;)

The new Sterling Cutlass HSS in firemist silver is phenomenal for the money. I upgraded all the electronics except the output jack. It's as good or better now than any S-type on the market under $1500.

Chase, I finally got to a video where you can make comments, so props for enabling that. Love the music you're doing brother man. Keep em comin.. The money really has to be good to sign a 10 year non-compete. 5 is a more normal contract. That said, CBS paid a tidy sum to make that happen. Leo was one smart individual, for sure.

I like the feel of the cutlass, it is fantastic, it has amazing build quality. The only reason I got rid of mine is, I think the active noiseless “silent circuit” pickups sound dead. The bridge (trem unit) also is very finicky. Great video.

@@thatmanonapedal I have an American professional II Stratocaster now. In my opinion it is a better instrument for me. However stock, it needs, locking tuners, better springs and a thicker block. Out of the box the musicman comes with those features. The necks feel identical. Personally I like Fenders trem unit better. Just didn’t connect with it. Hopefully who has it enjoys it, I would love to try other Music mans.

They've actually gotten a bit hotter recently, but still vintage voiced for sure. The Sterling line offers great features for the price and make killer mod platforms for heavier tones. I'm in mine under $800 with straplocks and case, and that's with all new electronics including Seymour Duncan pickups.

I'm a big fan of Music Man guitars I have several. You're really good guitar player but you're tone/sound is very noisy all those open strings that you're hitting for just one note make your playing sound sloppy. I appreciate that you're trying to pull off SRV riffs here but it's not working.
