Wouldn't it be strange if the manufacturer recommended this in the instruction manual 🤔. I had to run to TH-cam and found you. Gonna give it a try. Thanks so much 🙏
A lot of reviews people complain about a toxic chemical/plastic/rubber smell that does not go away. The owners manual mentions that this may occur but is non-toxic, yet no one wants that smell in their house or on their food. Another review mentioned to remove the "rubber shipping legs" from the tray grate before using. These appear to be food grade silicone but I removed them anyways and have had no bad smells during the initial test run or two dishes I've cooked so far. This is a great little air fryer, remove these things and you'll be happy!
Brilliant. Received a Chefman Air Fryer for Christmas and your remedy to get rid of manufacturing smells worked like a champ. After washing everything thoroughly I ran the fryer at 400 degrees for four, 20 minute sessions. No more smells. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Sadly they lie anything non stick is lead or similar poisonous lining metals or coating, burn as this man says but it's always in the non stick always there, plenty of info on how dangerous these non stick coatings are, look up each ingredient metal etc it's a sad world we rely on!
That's my issue. Thank you for the review and the help. Mine is a Bella and it smells Horrible. It does smell like plastic or like when you go to clean your oven and put oven cleaner inside and turn it on low so Nasty. It makes me nauseous 😫 I'm doing the first heating like you suggested and hoping it will be better after. If not I will definitely be calling the manufacturer because it smells like the wires are melting or something 🤢 I thought it was going to catch on fire.. Glad I seen your video Fingers crossed it will work and that heinous foul smell goes away🤞
Bought a Vortex a few weeks ago. Cleaned it thoroughly, washed all accessories, been in use for around 2 hours total time so far. Still smells awful. Might be going back soon. I'll try again yet not hopeful.

@@beckderm I returned mine as the buttons were acting up and bought the $39 Gourmia from Costco. For me, the basket-type ending up working better for my needs. Drop in a liner and clean up is a breeze. The Vortex good if people like the oven door set-up, can get rid of the smell and the buttons work.
having this issue with my black and decker... on my third burn off and still having issues... i followed your instruction on washing the accessories and still no help... might be bringing this thing back to Costco...
This was my concern, the plastic smell is from the hot air heating the plastic housing and internal air channels , i honestly don't think it is safe to expose plastic to these high temps . I am sticking to my oven all metal .
@@WaveOvenRecipes That's great , i was searching for all metal one , couldn't find one with metal housing , they are metal on the inside i.e. tray and fan only .
Cool. I have reviewed many of the air fryer "oven" style that are all metal. But the basket air fryers typically have plastic. Cooker Reviews: th-cam.com/play/PLdwaKyfn2J3r48IqHRsTGKzzLg_fDlwzK.html
This odor worries me. The whole house smells like it does when the oven is being cleaned. I opened the kitchen windows and tried to let the air out. I might stop using it. I kind of prefer the aroma of food cooking in the oven.
My ProAir smells like it's burning food when I turn it on everything is clean but the top part how can I clean that top part without damaging anything on the inside
I have a duo fryer. After using mostly the fryer, I tried making chicken broth and something wasn't right about the taste had to throw it out. The slow cooker lid has a different lid than the fryer so that can't be it. The fryer chamber is also hard to clean. Wasn't covered here.
I've tried EVERYTHING x3 in my and it still ruins my food with that smell...I'm taking it back. Secret Japanese warriors don't do very well in the kitchen appliance world.
I have this issue with a Hamilton Beach bread machine I just bought. The plastic smell is in the bread, despite the fact I did the initial burn off. The manufacturer says it will go away after a few uses but that means wasting food until then. It’s annoying.
My air fyer not only smells like melting plastic, it gets into ny food and changes the taste drastically. The taste is so horrible . I can't get rid of this odor and taste. The higher the temperature the worst it smells and taste. I'm very concerned about the health risk. 😕
Help. I just got a Power xl vortex. I can still mess the plastic 3 days later in my kitchen and in my nostrils. I had to throw away my food. It's awful. I only used it once. Did you find a solution to the smell? I smell a refund in the near future because I just can't take the smell🤮
@@FlyFreely8272 I have the same issue. I’ve got an instant Vortex 10 quart, and we actually already dehydrated fruit in it, at 180° for 7 1/2 hours and the smell is still there, so as far as the burn off, that didn’t work. I had made a rotisserie chicken and I could swear it had a plastic taste. I’m thinking about just returning it
@@MoonQueen1010 I returned it a long time ago. I have the 8qt Gourmia. It's a little difficult to clean around heating element but it doesn't have the plastic smell after using it a few times. I've had it for about 6 months and use it every day.

The food kinda smelled like the cooker I didn’t even eat it
I put a bowl of water/white vinegar/lemon juice for 30 mins that took all the chemical smell out of it
Sounds like a good idea. What temperature? I don't want to burst the bowl. :)
Thank you. Our air fryer leaves a unpleasant taste and smell. I definitely will contact the manufacturer

My cosori 5.8qt has the problem and I’ve ran it probably 10 times at 400 for 30 minutes. I’m going to contact them. My wings tasted like fish!

Only if you accept to keep it. You could return for refund and try something else.

I’m surprised a investigative news show hasn’t looked into the possibility of the fumes being hazardous to breath and contaminating the food.
They don't do things that upset their advertisers. You have to do the homework.
