    In a recent interview Lucas said his favorite episode of star wars the clone wars was one about a bunch of droids contemplating their own existence and that it was reminiscent of THX-1138.

    THX 1138 was brilliant, especially when you think of when it was made - 1970. I dont agree it was 1984 big brother. It's a film about humanity becoming divorced from what it is to be human. To think and to feel are so fundamental to people. It served as a terrible warning that machine will eventually control humans. What I found gripping is his escape and climb to freedom. You have no idea this is a city underground until he gets out of the tunnel and stands in view of a setting sun. And a bird is in flight which suggests this dystopian future contains a little flash of hope!

    • @Will_Moffett
      @Will_Moffett 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I think being big brother and degradation of human bonds come part and parcel. And it seems like machines weren't controlling people as much as a small group of people were using machines to control people.

      1984 was published in 1949 anyways so THX 1138 couldnt even be the spiritual "big brother" lol 1984 wasn't published in 1984. Unless you mean that big brother as in the government figure/authority but wouldn't "the man" or "give it to the man" have been used way more then "big brother" when referring to authority back then ?

It from a film standpoint reminded me somewhat of 2001 A Space Odyssey and from a conceptual standpoint. It reminded me of a cross between Brave New World and 1984. I would watch it again it's a stunning film to look at and has some interesting ideas.
