I've climbed this twice, the first time in one day (foolish; got back to the trailhead at 2 a.m.). Next time we took three days -- much better, though I took a shortcut down a steep snowfield, as you did here, but judged it poorly -- went out of control and hit the bottom a top speed, where I did cartwheels through the air and smashed my arm against a rock in the boulder field.
I'm going next week. Wish I had someone to climb with, but hey, I'm 100% confident in my abilities. Gonna hit this, then Maroon Peak, then head up to Teton to hit the grand all within a week. Wish me luck guys & great content! Amazing climb & thanks for the inspiration!
@@Pepperoni10125 It went about as close to perfect as Capitol can allow. I had to skip out on Teton because of the wildfire smoke. Sad to hear about the guy who just fell, and the knife edge would definitely be terrifying to anyone even remotely scared of heights.
Great video! haven't done this one yet, but knowing someone who did both this and little bear peak, they said they were literally shitting their pants while doing little bear an capitol not so much. So based off that opinion, and other similar opinions online, we can assume capitol isn't the hardest or scariest. But by no means does that diminish how gnarly the knife edge is! can't wait do to it myself!
What a great adventure! Thanks for sharing! Maybe next time we might see above your shoes and slower pans? Having been on a close peak, I know why your mom was worried. I didn't know it was considered one of the deadliest peaks here in Colorado. Again, thanks for taking us all along on your adventure. What a trip! Beautiful!

@@WillHaack Get after it!! The Crestone group will put some hair on your nuts. Capitol just has the hype factor and body count to boot. I'd argue even the Maroon group is more challenging than Cap
Not rly his “personal” opinion … Capitol is not the hardest peak in any form. It does not have the longest approach, most exposure, or hardest grade of the 14er’s, it has not claimed the most lives and certainly does not have the most dangerous or difficult combination of these aspects compared to other 14er’s. Cool video tho.
Also just keep it consistent man lol if u wanna run up mountains in converse and call yourself amateurs then you certainly are fitting the brand … but I wouldn’t call myself an amateur and then get cheeky with people trying to educate you in the comments
