“You don’t have to take your top off, but I always prefer...”. Nice :)
Wouldn’t mind an entire wall in my fish room with just 33L’s. Love that size. Surprised they’re not more common. That tank cleaned up nice. The kids will love it 👍
Same with the 40 long, two of my favorite sizes
My favorite sizes are 33s and 40 breeders. 😍
Great job
anyone else find it satifying watching a dirty tank getting cleaned or is it just me
I do lol
Wow , what a difference that made. Looks brand spankin new. I like that size of tank in the long version like that. It looks big for its size
You busy this weekend? I got a new used 210g with some pretty thick salt creep caked on. You look like the perfect person for the job. I pay in pizza and optional beer.
Dang, unfortunately i am
@@SteenfottAquatics S'ok , next time
And 33 Long All Day. My Favorite Tank. I want to do a nice display rack for a few of them some nice high light plants since it’s so low.
My tanks are extra dirty. I was watching Melevs reef and he recommended muratic acid which is vinegar on steroids, they use it for pools. If you've got really bad stains, give it a go.
Did you take your bike out yesterday Bob?
Yesterday and this morning =)
Every video I find..
Bleach, acid..
1st rule on internet: do not use (strong) chemicals 💁🏻♂️
Vinegar doesn't work!
Tried soaking it in Vinegar, wiping it with vinegar etc does not work!!
What works???
It's amazing how with a little work an old tank almost looks new again. I just did that on an old tank I was giving to a friend. Good job you did. It would be hard to clean with my bike sitting there lol.
I made sure to take the bike out after =)
@@SteenfottAquatics So it was a win win lol
I just bought a used 55 gallon drained it and cleaned out very well ect. Been sitting there for 2 weeks now the filter is a 75 gallon. It's wet inside yet. I didn't clean it or anything yet. I'm just wondering what to do about the filter if I should clean it and if so how? Or if I just throw it on and let it do its thing?
For the love of........please don’t scrape that plastic across the glass in any more videos holy hell!!! Lol
That looks like a magic eraser sponge which I would not recommend using in an aquarium let alone without a glove.
Feels good to repurpose an old tank. I recently done one too, I should have tidy up the metal frame 👍👍🐠🐠
Great job Bob it's looking good 👊✌️
You obviously don't have hard water, there is no way that would take off the calcium deposits I get on my tanks!!!
Its pretty common practice for calcium build up. You just have to let it soak. I cleaned a salt water tank with it, just had to let it soak forever.
what is the tank size
33 gallon long
I've got an old 65 gallon...it was a beautiful set up I ran it for 12 years. After I had my daughter, I couldn't keep up with it. It's been sitting dry for about 5 years. So it's definitely an older tank. I'd like to freshen her up & start over. I'm curious what you suggest I do if I don't want to take any chances of it bursting or springing a leak. New silicone? If so, what's the best approach?
My general rule of thumb is, if its over 10 years old i reseal it. However, when you factor in the materials and more importantly the time it takes to reseal. It may just be cheaper to purchase a new 65g.
Great video bob can you please show us how to reseal an aquarium
Next time i do it definitely
Thanks bob 😀
YES! I JUST MADE A COMMENT ABOUT THIS. WHERE'S THE VIDEO!?🎉
Nice job on the tank and really great that you're donating it (I think) to a classroom 👍💕
Kind of donating it, ill be picking it back up after the school year
That tank profile/foot print looks awesome! Cleaned up real nice too!
one of my favorite sizes
That tank cleaned up beautifully! Great job, Bob.
👍💕👍
Thanks =)
Nice truck, nice bike and nice Dewalt Saw Horse. Lol
Squeaky clean! What will be going in it? Are you choosing the fish or will the teacher and/or kids?
Probably some time of Rasbora and shrimp. Something simple.
Scooping gravel out of the bottom of the tank, can you say Shop-Vac. Let me tell you that is so much easier with the Shop-Vac.
I only have a little portable vac, fills up too fast. I should probably get a bigger one.
Aahhh! My ears ar e bleeding.
Love the 33l, I've only ever seen one for sale, and it was for $90, unfortunately
They are pretty rare :( my favorite is the 40 long.
Cool. Check out the new england motorcycle museum. They are located in conn. I think. They rebuild and sell bikes too
I have become addicted to bikes
@@SteenfottAquatics lol. You should try sailing a 16ft hobie cat going mach 8 across the water. Check out Joseph Bennett videos on youtube. 😁⛵👍, bytheway, You gave me the idea to clean my new OLD fishtanks on sawhorses. Thanks for the info. I didnt think to leave the tank full of water a week to test it for leaks, but it is a good idea. -peace 🕊
Vinegar in a spray bottle worked wonders on the calcium buildup in a Tanganyikan tank of mine. Spray on some vinegar, let sit for 5 minutes, and wipe out the residue. I only had to respray a few times for the more stubborn bits. Less elbow grease, but more time.
Awesomeness
Hey, can i reseal old aquarium that had broken on bottom and the left side? It is still can be used or should throw it? My aquarium size just same like you, i want to know it is still can be used or not, if you say cant i will throw it out, it breaks in its corners on the bottom glass and also on the sides in the bottom corner, thanks yr answer 🙏
My eyes started hurting when you got the vinegar in your eyes.
It was an interesting experience lol
I've had to pull metal out of my eye with a magnet. Not fun.
Like watching paint dry LOL. As a retired school custodian I appreciate that you do not want to flood a classroom.
This is just what I needed to see! I was given an old aquarium and I'll have a student group clean it up for the media center. They'll be able to watch you and know just what to do. Thanks!
Is a 33L just a longer 20L
Nope, its a shorter 55 gallon =) Same footprint, but only 12 inches tall.
Great video I’m getting a used tank my coworker is giving me and I need it this info good job man
Do you do windows?
nope lol
Is that a magic eraser?
Ah, two seconds later.. I see that it is. Thanks for the tips!
will the vinegar cause the tank to carry the smell?
Nice video! I dilute my vinegar a little to help with the odor. Safety first! I always forget my glasses too! Wait! I wear glasses. Ha! Good point! I hope everyone noticed you were outside too for ventilation because it can get a little toxic to your lungs like bleach. I love it that you don’t get all those oxygen bubbles on the glass when you use white vinegar! Can’t wait to see the rest of the set up in the class. You’re awesome Bob!❤️
Thanks Susan =)
Awesome video
Thanks =)
I like Barkeepers friend for cleaning manky tanks.
Never thought of that before, ill have to try
What model is your bike?
Honda Shadow 750
Fun!
I had a Honda 450 nighthawk. I loved that bike! I used to ride my friends 700... a Honda S. Have you ever been on one of those? Crazy fun fast.
@@aquadesignsbymlt4769 I haven't seen a Honda S in a long time. Always thought it would be a fun bike. My 750 is a big sluggish for me, hope to upgrade next year to a Honda Fury
Never knew you could clean with Vinegar!
works great, except the smell
That’s a nice size rank. Also, love how you are spending your time off💞
Me too lol =)
Damn boi you came out talking so fast I though you were about to spit some bars
